  1. PHOTOS ABOVE ARE NOT DISPLAYING PROPERLY , THIS IS A REPOSTING 50 year old patient came in to restore hairline and frontal area by FUE. Dr Rahal, designed a hairline that maybe considered on the aggressive side. The ratio of the placement of the hairline relative to facial proportions is on point. He has a healthy donor, minimal overall risk of future hairloss, great hair caliber and hairs/graft. The average density was at 46.5 grafts per cm but a great 107 hairs/cm. The combination of the hair caliber, hair colour/contrast and wave provides a great coverage. Patient is thrilled. Surgery type : FUE Recipient Area treated: 55 cm Zones Treated : 1 to 3 Grafts Transplanted: 2557 grafts Recipient Graft Density: 46.5 grafts/cm Recipient Hair Density:107 hairs/cm Graft breakdown Single Hair: 457 grafts Two Hair: 1039 grafts Three Hair: 901 grafts Four Hair:160 grafts TOTAL GRAFTS: 2557 grafts TOTAL HAIRS: 5878 hairs HAIRS PER GRAFT: 2.3 hairs/graft
  2. PHOTOS ABOVE ARE NOT DISPLAYING PROPERLY , THIS IS A REPOSTING. Dr Rahal designed a conservative hairline, reconstructing the lateral (temple) areas and adding density without lowering the front. This opens up a much greater range of styling options for the patient. 1233 grafts were used with a density that works out at 47 grafts per cm. The patient's donor area still has many grafts available for the future. Surgery Type: FUE Recipient Area Treated: 26cm Zones Treated: 1 & 2 Grafts Transplanted: 1233 grafts Recipient Graft Density: 47.42grafts/cm Recipient Hair Density: 92.6 hairs/cm Graft Breakdown: Single Hair - 385 grafts Two Hair - 542 grafts Three Hair - 276 grafts Four Hair - 30 grafts Average Hairs Per Graft - 1.95 Total Grafts - 1233 Total Hairs - 2408

  5. Hi 24needmore, We also have a location in Toronto if you'd like to pay us a visit in person to learn more. Just reach out, happy to help! Tara
  6. Hi Akuma Just to clarify further. The vibration nerve fibers are different from the pain nerve fibers. The vibration sensation travels faster to the brain than pain fibers and closes the gate to pain traveling to the central nervous system. This is called, the gate control theory of pain. Dr Rahal uses the vibration, using a hand held small skin massager when applying the local xylocaine (which tends to have a sharp pain sensation and is often confused with cutting. Dr Rahal, is the only person cutting and removing the strip, the assistants help in handing him the instruments and holding the head during the procedure. Plus, the skin is cut only after the anesthetic has taken. The strip is then removed, trichophytic closure done, and then sutured with two layers to ensure proper scar healing. hope this helps
  7. Hi Fullerhead, Congrats for doing diligent research! This forum is a wealth of information for someone beginning their journey of hair restoration. Did you know Dr. Rahal performs FUE in Toronto? We have a location in North York. We also offer a free information session at our Toronto Clinic if you'd like to stop in to learn more. Just reach out, we're here to help Tara
  8. Looks good, still early yet (I know we're not talking about our post-op, but do reach out if you have questions!) Keep us posted, and happy growing.
  9. Talk to the clinic about what they allow post-op, but you can always use a bit of concealer or make-up to get you through if you have redness beyond the 4 weeks. Good luck with your procedure & healing!
  10. If I can toss another perspective into the mix... If you're going to a world class physician for your HT then you know they have the techniques down and the consistent results to back up their technical aptitude. Most often when patient's meet with a doctor then, it's to talk about the "artistic" side of the transplant (hairline design for example). Setting clear expectations for doctor & patient is critical to the success of the procedure. It benefits the doctor to have these conversations with patients before asking for any type of commitment, even a consultation fee... - Tara
  11. Hi UKLad81 here, quickly, are some links to previous patients posted, with higher norwoods http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182198-dr-rahal-4862-fut-norwood-5-6-mos-post-op.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182149-dr-rahal-5130-fut-norwood-5-a-2.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182285-dr-rahal-4324-fut-norwood-5-10-mos-post-op.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182795-dr-rahal-4960-graft-fut-norwood-6-6-5-mos-post-op.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/182455-dr-rahal-4129-graft-fut-norwood-5-8-mos-post-op.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/138905-dr-rahal-2-sessions-total-grafts-6282-a.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/165151-dr-rahal-4381-grafts-2-years.html
  12. Hi @goodwally! Thanks for sharing your pictures & story. You've got a good list of physicians there, and you're conducting your due diligence, kudos to you! To answer your question, yes, we most certainly can transplant around existing hairs. Are you considering FUE only? Is Strip an option? We'll be happy to provide more detailed feedback, and share more photo examples with you. Have you contacted our clinic for an information session? Good luck with the research Tara
  13. This patient is now 12 months post-op. His final results show the planned conservative hairline and coverage over the frontal and mid-scalp zones. With the continued use of medications, this patient is expected to age with a natural look.
  14. Did you speak with your doc about your concerns? Have you experimented with different hair lengths to see how things look in the back? Sometimes a good cut can make the difference.
  15. I agree with the gen consensus here that meds are your first option. It's hard to judge based on 3 photos. Family history is just one piece of the puzzle. Need to see more photos to search for any additional miniaturization (with hair wet helps) and your donor availability before even starting a conversation about eligibility for HT. Best of luck with the meds research
  16. This is a tough comparison because when you think back over the past 10 years at all the changes that have occurred in HT industry in general, the possibility of results are more viable and more impressive now vs. 10 years ago. I've been with Rahal for 7 years, and even in this time I've seen improvements in the size of cases, density that can be achieved, maximization of donor, etc. etc. Plus, with progressive hair loss, there will always be room for long term refinement to any result.
  17. You're doing the best possible thing: research. Don't do anything until your certain with the doctor & treatment plan you end up choosing. Many patients take years before taking the plunge. You're empowering yourself with education, that's the right path.
  18. Agree with the others to give it some additional time & growth. All you need is something to minimize the contrast between your hair and scalp in the meantime. Dermatch can work wonders! Worst case, I've seen SMP (done correctly) cover strip scars very well.
  19. From our experience, the number of patients that come from the forums and go back to share their experience, in general, is way less than 100%. Especially when they are happy. They go on and never look back. The majority of patients that come to us, and prob to many of the clinics, don't come from the forums, and are less likely to post their experience. Just look at the number of patients being posted by the clinics, versus the new patient experiences posted by patients themselves. The fact that we have more FUT experiences cited, is because we have been doing FUT (20 plus years, for longer than FUE (10 years). Tara
  20. With all due respect, we do FUE on daily basis with successful results and you site two patients and call it roll of the dice. I don't think its a fair assessment. Tara
  21. This results is definitely an FUE. Thank you for pointing it out TOC The confusion may stem from uploading it to the HTN gallery (which is done by the forum admin). I will as them to correct that.
  22. Shaving, like many other parts of the procedure comes down to Physician preference & their own experience with their patients. As home1212 mentioned, we always require the recipient area to be shaved for the procedure. This is how we deliver the best results for patients. --Tara
  23. Hi @ thegoalie31 We have a clinic in Toronto if you're interested in dropping by for an information session. We can share some FUE patient examples with you then. Just reach out --Tara
  24. Great question. Always a good discussion starter. The "art" side of hair restoration. It begs the question of what defines aesthetics? There are so many elements that lend to a great hair transplant. We can talk density, angles, design, coverage, etc. Wondering what the thoughts are on criteria that define a great aesthetic results? --Tara
  25. Hi Alessi, We're still here Stay tuned for some video & picture results of recent FUE patients we've had. Will post these by next week, and will be sure to include link here. Just reach out if you have any questions for us!
