The only way to eliminate an existing strip scar is to have another strip surgery. The first scar will be completely removed but will be replaced with a second one. The idea here is to create a smaller scar than the existing one. Alternatively, you can get FUE into the scar so that the scar is concealed. The concept is similar to SMP but instead of tattooing, you actually have hair growing through the scar. So it’s something to consider. Rahal Hair Transplant

Only cases of extreme malnutrition me a fact hair growth and hair loss. A large percentage of the population simply don’t get enough vitamins and eat poorly. TV dinners, tasty cakes, ice cream, hotdogs, too many carbohydrates, etc. won’t cause an individual to lose their hair. NW8, at only one month after your hair transplant, these stagnant follicles may actually still grow. In fact, they may not have ever shed from the initial procedure yet. If this is the case, they may still shed and then new hairs will begin to grow in somewhere between three and five months. If you’ve undergone FUE, you’re safe to massage your scalp in any way shape or form at that stage. However, if you’ve undergone strip, I wouldn’t massage the scalp too hard. Massaging shampoo or conditioner into the scalp for example is fine however, doing scalp exercises is not advised only three months postop from strip. Rahal Hair Transplant

There are a number of medical and unrelated conditions that can affect libido. However, minoxidil doesn't affect or alter male hormone levels and thus, should not affect it. On a similar note, while Propecia can actually affect libido, often times Propecia is blamed when there are other underlying issues causing it. This is a personal choice however, most patients seem to prefer keeping their hair short for the first couple of months after hair restoration surgery and when the hair transplant really starts to grow in and thicken, they will grow it to their preferred length for styling purposes. FUE hair transplantation has come a long way and can produce solid, natural looking results on par with strip in the right hands. However, hair restoration surgery does nothing to slow down or stop the progression of male pattern baldness. Propecia works well in this department for many men which is why those with minimal hair loss are often advised to consider it. That said, men can undergo FUE without getting on Propecia as long as they understand and accept the risks that hair loss may continue after surgery. Hi @Runandy Hairs may have shed post-op or possibly temporary shock loss (which always grows back). Having had three hair transplants myself, it's normal to see gaps. It's also normal for patients 3 to 6 months to have questions around this time, say the right side grows faster than the left-or vice versa. All normal. Hairs don't shed at the same time. Same with growth. Around this time, everything is patchy. There's peaks and valleys. Bottom line, it's just too early to tell. It's always helpful to reference the guideline posted. @Abi28 Since everyone is different, some patients see results faster or slower. Depends. Below is a range that takes into account both. - 3-6 months. First signs of growth, It will be patchy, light density, some areas will grow faster than others. Maybe the right or the left, depends. You will also notice pimples. All normal. This is the toughest time for patients! The area might still be red, maybe there is some shedding. It's called the "ugly duckling stage." Here are some posts from other forum members about it - 6-9 months. Thin areas, patchy areas start to fill in, fine hairs start to thicken. You will notice less pimples. And start to be satisfied with the HT, but not 100% satisfied. First jump in density. You will be excited for what's to come. You also start to get more confident with the HT, when you realize others can't tell. They might say, "you look different, younger, good." But they don't know why. - 9-12 months. Some growth - but fine hairs mature mostly. Second increase/jump in density. You will be 90% happy. Maybe a couple of areas. But overall happy. You will also notice that some hairs have a mind of their. All normal. They need to go through a couple of cycles to mature, take on the same characteristics. You may also want to tweak come spots, couple of hairs here, couple there. All 100% covered with our growth guarantee. - 12-15 months - Things start to come together. Hairs mature and everything flows when styling your hair You will know what I mean then. - 15-24 - you start to get more confident with the HT. And actually forget you had one. I hope this helps!

@John Doe thanks for sharing your experience! Not to worry. At four months, things are just starting to take off. It's normal to see gaps as you experience shedding. How do I know? I also had a hair transplant 🙂 Believe me, I've been there. You're at the "ugly duckling stage." Remember, it's normal for one side to grow faster than the other. It's normal to see gaps. All part of the process. At around six months, things will start to blend. And even then you still have a long way to go. Everything looks great but for your peace of mind (not that you have anything to worry about 🙂 touchups are always free. If you need one. Our number one goal is that you're happy, it's that simple. So hang in there and try to forget about it for the next few months.

Dr. Rahal reviews your information and creates your personalized treatment plan, which includes cost, number of graphs, answers your questions, etc. You would then schedule a call with the patient advisor to discuss the treatment plan, your options and answer any additional questions...Sounds like this step was missed. For an in person consultation, you would meet with an advisor. He/she would take photos, answer basic questions about the procedure, discuss your goals, complete the hair loss history form with you, plus you would meet some patients in person. He/she would then send the information to Dr. Rahal for review. He would then create your treatment plan, and the advisor would schedule a call to discuss. p.s. @LonelyGraft No problem! No. Dr. Rahal did not work under Dr. Armani. I'm sure they shared information, learned from each other, shared tips, etc. For example, Dr. Ron Shapiro visited Dr. Rahal not too long ago. He shared some tips and vice versa. Combined both have 60+ years experience... so there is a lot to share and learn from each other. It was cool to see both talking "hairlines." For a hair geek like me anyway. lol BTW, Dr. Ron Shapiro designs some awesome hairlines. He's Not talked about much. But does amazing work. @Aftermath I hesitate to say it's a smear campaign, though there is a lot of misinformation. Let's call it mistaken Dr. Rahal is highly involved in every case. A typical day starts at 5am. Dr. Rahal discusses your goals/expectations, designs your hairline, maps your donor region. This takes about an hour. Then it's off to the OR where Dr. Rahal calculates your donor region, what he can and can't safely harvest (it's called donor management). He then has a huddle with the team to discuss the game plan. We offer every type of FUE... before each case, Dr. Rahal harvests a small number of grafts via manual, motorized FUE, including dull/sharp and different punch sizes. Each graft is then inspected under magnification for quality. The technique/punch with the lowest transaction, best quality is used. It depends on hair characteristics, skin thickness, etc. Dr. Rahal then does some final calculations, notes the depth and angle of grafts and plots the donor area on a whiteboard and donor. Throughout the day it's a combination of Dr. Rahal/team harvesting graphs, with Dr. Rahal in and out of the room throughout the day. If you are familiar with donor management, it's an ongoing process of calculations, partial transaction (deliberate in some cases), all with the goal of preserving your donor area, avoiding overharvesting and allowing for maximum number of graphs in the future. Each graft is inspected (every single one of them) under magnification for quality. Dr. Rahal reviews the graph count sheet and numbers ongoing You take a break, enjoy some lunch. Most patients have an appetite since they've been sleeping/had a good nap up until this point Dr. Rahal prepares and injects PRP into the scalp Dr. Rahal then goes over the hairline again, maps the scalp, prepares custom blades, and makes all the incisions. This can take one or two hours. We have an entire team dedicated to implanting, and we use specialized planters, which preserves graft quality. Dr. Rahal is again in an out of the room, inspecting the recipient site for quality, etc. He may also provide additional freezing if needed. Dr. Rahal meets with the patient with a patient care manager, goes over post-op, etc. Dr. Rahal again meets with the patient the next day - and for each follow-up. Keep in mind above is a general breakdown. I'm thinking of doing a video of each step. Might be helpful and help with a lot of the miss information. Hope this helps.

Hi lovinitl9, We always appreciate feedback. But need to correct you on a few things. 1) We don't use needles. We only use custom blades. 2) Dr. Rahal does not perform multiple procedures at the same time. If two patients are scheduled, it's a larger session in the morning (2500+ grafts) - and smaller session (under 1000 grafts) in the afternoon. Even then, we have a dedicated FUE team for each procedure. Most technicians have been with us 20+ years. Dr. Rahal has over 25+ years experience. I assure you it's not a problem. 3) We have an entire department and 3 full-time staff dedicated to patient care. Ask any Rahal patient and they will confirm we take patient care very seriously. A search on this form for "patient care" will confirm. We are in contact with every patient (phone, email, txt) post-op - and each patient is assigned his/her own patient care manager. Bottomline, we would know if a patient is unhappy (and do everything in our power to correct it). I assure you, patients are happy. 4) Again, we are always appreciate feedback. Thank you.
