  1. I think that hairline looks fantastic and natural, especially since he combed his hair back it really show cases the work. I can't think of a patient review that's had a better hairline. I'd love to see if Dr. Feller really thinks this is just 80% growth, this isn't even 3,000 grafts.
  2. Looks great swoop, how do you rate Dr. Doganay? Still up in the air about who to go to next.
  3. If you don't care about a stretched scar than who am I to argue with you, but me personally I'd rather be bald than have an ugly big scar in the back of my head that looks unnatural, whether this is popular opinion or not is irrelevant, this is my personal train of thought you don't have to agree. I don't have an exact number of how many scars stretch, what I do now is what I've been told by several physicians, and that's that no one can predict how you will scar, there are things that help them asses the situation but an absolute guarantee is not available this is common knowledge any reputable surgeon will tell you. My opinion that high norwoods should go FUE is the simple fact that there may come a time where they no longer wish to deal with hairloss or fight the inevitable, this is documented with Joe Rogan who now shaves his head and regrets getting a hair transplants because of his huge scar. This may never be you, it may never be me, but I for one want to have the freedom to choose, I know a lot of guys feel the same way I do which is why we opt for hair restoration, to have the freedom to grow your hair out, cut your hair, shave it if you want too, this freedom does not exist with FUT. This is my opinion and that's my train of thought, you don't have to agree I respect that, but i ask you respect mine. Furthermore, who cares about shaving down? I care, just because you have never cut your hair shorter than a two on the sides doesn't mean no one else has, you're arguing personal preference here not everyone has the same hairstyle or likes the same hairstyle.
  4. One of the best hairlines I've seen, this thread was one of the many reasons I chose Dr. Diep for my hairline, it's been 2 months still in the ugly duckling stage:(
  5. Sunseeker, hair restoration whether it be FUE or FUT will always look better longer, typically your born with 100 follicular u its per cm, so when you have a large bald area it's difficult to match the density, in order for someone to appear like that are not balding they'd require 50 follicular units per cm, generally this is not possible in individuals with a lot of hairloss because there is a large area to cover, so what surgeons do is transplant less density like 30 follicular units per cm, this will look thin when cut short, but will become less apparent when grown out because the follicles can lay over each other covering more of the scalp. So it really depends on how much hair you've lost, if it's minor recession and you're a good candidate, surgeons can dense pack and hair could be cut short, this has nothing to do with FUE or FUT only has to do with how many grafts are being transplantes in a particular area and how closely they are being transplanted.
  6. Very good result considering how bald you were, typically 4,000 grafts for a Norwood 6 is not going to give great density. If I were you I'd address the lateral humps next.
  7. I think it's because they're getting underdosed gear from underground labs rather than pharmagrade. I've also heard guys buying anavar and get it tested and it ends up being dbol that will eat your hair up. It's risk buying gear from underground labs, another reason why I chose not to run gear. But it's not worth it for any guy with MPB.
  8. Visit hairlossfromsteroids.com he gives a list of steroids that are relatively safe for hairloss off the top of my head anavar I believe is one, I think and I'm not certain but superdrol or halotestin was safe, I'm a lifter myself and I've researched steroids and often pondered about going on a cycle but it's not worth it, you do not maintain the gains especially if you take wet compounds where the majority of the gains is water. Also, finasteride only blocks 60-70 % of DHT, but if you're taking superphysiological amounts of testosterone the amount of DHT your body will produce will be a lot more, so te effect that finasteride would have would be minimal, I've heard guys running dutasteride instead, again it's a gamble, personally I don't think it's worth the risk, not to mention the damage your gonna do on your endocrine system, once you come off the gear you're going to have to run an AI and you'll have to run finasteride, your body is going to have to have a hard time adjusting, you probably won't be able to maintain an erection during this time. You're essentially putting exogenous androgens in your body while suppressing a natural hormone, does not seem like a good recipe for your sex life.
  9. This narrative is still around especially with physicians that are more comfortable performing FUT, that's why I encourage you to speak to a physician that is good at both, they will tell you that the difference in yield is insignificant. Personally, I believe them more than a physician who primarily practices FUT because they don't have an agenda, my surgeon Dr. Diep, is a recommended surgeon here, he's got amazing results with FUT and FUE when I consulted with him and asked him about my apprehension regarding yield, he advised me that he was an FUE specialist therefore he was confident his yield would not differ on either procedure but he told me it was up to me he could do either procedure and get good results. I think nowadays it's more important the surgeon you choose rather than the procedure itself know what I mean. I just saw your pics, your hairloss is very minor, 1,800 grafts would be good on the temples, I think 2,000 would really give you excellent density, but 1,800 is ok for your minor hairloss.
  10. I believe that to be 100% the case, it's very well documented on this site, I myself had an FUE procedure that I considered to be a success, I doubt my result would've been any different if I would've gotten an FUT, also please note that "kinky wiry" hair can occur in either procedure, it's not only FUE that can cause this appearance, and most of the time the hair characteristic fixes itself over time. David the moderator got this from an FUT procedure he had but it went away after a while. I encourage you to really think about what would be best for you, comparing top FUE to top FUT the cosmetic outcome will be similar. However, the difference in price may be a lot. Unfortunately, even the best physicians can't tell if you will scar poorly, it's rare this happens on your first procedure though. Take a look at before and after videos from physicians that perform both, a good example is Dr. Diep, hes very good at both procedures.
  11. Not sure what to gather from your post honestly, sounds like maybe you had unrealistic expectations. A hair transplant will not fix your hair problems for life. You're over 40 years old so it's safe to say your hairloss is not aggressive especially considering you only had frontal hairline baldness, in your case you're probably ok to not take finasteride. But hairloss progresses in everyone with the gene, even if you take finasteride, so my initial impression is that you wanted to have a procedure that would solve your problem for life, which is not the case ever. 1 month out you may actually look a little worse than you did before the transplant and this is perfectly normal, you look worse before you look better. I think finasteride is appropriate in really young guys who don't know how far their hairloss will progress, meaning a 20 year old guy with the same hairloss you have at 42, this would be a good indicator that this kid may end up to be Norwood 6 or 7, in this case finasteride is appropriate so that he retains most of his native hair for a long period of time. However, if you're in your 40's-50's and you have minor frontal hairloss, you're more than likely ok to get a transplant without finasteride because your hairloss is not aggressive, another scenario is think it's not appropriate to take finasteride is if your a Norwood 5-7 in these cases most of your hair is gone, the risk to benefit is completely swayed the opposite way, you risk permanent sexual dysfunction for a few hairs on your head, nevertheless you'll be bald either way, accept you'll be bald and impotent, not a good trade off.
  12. Well in my opinion and this is just my opinion FUE has gained in popularity, the increase in popularity led to more physicians practicing FUE, this has led to physicians naturally progressing at the procedure, just like anything in life, once something becomes popular more and more people will do it and this will lead to an increase in skill. Not all surgeons are created equal, like I said FUE takes a tremendous amount of surgical skill the leaning curve takes years, in my opinion now that it's been around for over 10 years more and more surgeons are getting over that curve and some are really pushing the boundaries in terms of yield, grafts extracted, and level of baldness that they are working on. Naturally, many surgeons don't wish to go through this learning curve because they already get good results with FUT so they don't see a need. Some surgeons particularly on this site are on a mission to discredit FUE in its entirety. So take what they say with s grain of salt. My opinion if you don't care about the scar and you dont wear your hair short your probably better off going FUT because it's a lot cheaper than FUE. In regards to numbness etc. if you go to a reputable FUT surgeon the likelihood of this occurring is low. Can you post pictures of your hairloss? I'm interested to see why you were quoted only 1,800 grafts that's very low for FUT or FUE.
  13. Not to derail this thread but Dr. Bhatti already stated this study had nothing to do with FUT vs FUE yield. Dr. Harris I believe he's recommend as well is the doctor he's consulted with has already conducted his own study that shows the yield is on par with FUT, so studies conducted by physicians and not a third party should always be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, op do your research, remember these scars last a lifetime, do you ever wish to buzz your head in the future? Do you wear your hair short? If neither of these things matter than FUT may be a good option, but if this is something you wish to do down the line id think real hard before committing yourself to surgery.
  14. Both doctors are respected in their fields, personally though I think you can find better specialist in both fields, hasson and Wong for FUT or rahal both id pick over Bernstein, and while I respect Dr. Harris, many European physicians provide better results for FUE, dr. Lorenzo, dr. Erdogan, but nevertheless both physicians you've consulted are good. 1,800 grafts I'm assuming they want to play it safe and be conservative, can you post pics, it'll be easier to gauge whether 1,800 grafts will make a significant impact or not for you.
  15. From the physicians I've spoken with that perform FUT and FUE regularly they don't state that the yield is much of a difference. Now with that being said if you have FUE with an inexperienced surgeon that does not specialize in FUE the yield will probably be lower. FUE takes a great deal of patience and surgical skill much more than FUT. So it's absolutely imperative you choose a surgeon who specializes in FUE and does them regularly. As for 1,800 grafts being to small for FUT that's really your choice, personally I wouldn't want to scar my head for just 1,800 grafts, so if you're going FUT why not get more? Have you thoroughly researched physicians?
  16. I think you mean FUT can harvest more grafts in a single sitting, when you say yield you're talking about the growth of the grafts, it's a hotly debated topic on here, but in my opinion the difference in yield via FUE vs FUT is insignificant, 1,800 grafts is relatively small for FUT, not sure why you'd want to do so little grafts with FUT, even for hairlines typically 2,000-2,500 is a good amount.
  17. You hit the nail on the head, SMP alone will not stand the test of time it'll look ridiculous. In your case I do suggest at least giving finasteride a try at a minuscule dose, you still have a lot of hair left to lose, have you tried lipogaine? It's basically monoxidil with some other things, at the very least try this, wait until you're in your late 20's if you're destined to be very bald Norwood 6-7 by your late 20's you'll be able to see a clear pattern, at that time you can have a transplant and just plan for further loss, your grafts can be placed in a manner that will look natural even if hairloss progresses. At your age I had more hair than you and by the time I was 29 Norwood 6 pattern, this is not always the case though so I don't wanna scare you, but it's best to wait it out and stabilize your hairloss.
  18. A reversal is not even necessary, if you're a Norwood 5 and up, you place your grafts in a pattern that would be natural if further hairloss progresses, the only time I advocate a trial of finasteride is if you're a Norwood 2 with basically a full head of hair left to lose. Otherwise, I'd your a Norwood 5 basically bald, you take finasteride and if you happen to be one of the sad cases of post finasteride syndrome, you'd be impotent for life and you'd still be bald, it's a double whammy, for individuals that are already bald there's little to no pay out, only that you maintain high sides, I'd rather go Norwood 7 then go impotent for life. Although those cases are rare, i took org finasteride and dutasteride, the side effects went away once I stopped.
  19. The way you scar involves more than jut surgical skill, some of it has to do with genetics and some of it has to do with elasticity, the problem with stripping out is that often the patients demand for more hair, more hair, and more hair and many times physicians believe in their own ability, but once they realize the scalp is no longer elastic it is too late. Once the wound is difficult to close the skin will stretch and the scar will inevitably stretch, this may happen on the first, second, or third, no surgeon can predict this, there is no surgeon on earth that will guarantee that your scar won't stretch, the chances of your scar stretching after multiple procedures goes up immensely, to some they don't care about a scar, to me I'd rather be bald, so it's not worth it. That's why I believe and this is my opinion that the overall cosmetic result will always be better with several FUE procedures rather than several FUT's that's why I believe high norwoods should opt for FUE, also buzzing your head is still an option with FUE should your hairloss progress, the scars are insignificant and SMP could cover it up completely. There's a documented case of an individual on YouTube shaved his head to the bone, the scars although visible to the trained eye would be insignificant to the average person.
  20. It can take up to 6 weeks for the transplanted hairs to shed, it took me around 7 weeks for all of the transplanted hair to shed. As for doing crossfit or surfing, I'd advise you to check with your surgeon, my surgeon advised me 2 weeks to return to the gym and no swimming in the ocean for 8 weeks. But the best thing you can so is follow your doctors post op care, as he's the best one to consult regarding your situation.
  21. Sides are rare, most guys in here out on fin with no sides. When I started fin I was 21 I took it without knowing or even researching the side effects. One time I was with a girl sexually, we had sex, then an hour later when we tried again nothing, at that time I could have sex several times a night, anyways I was not able to have sex for the rest of the night. It was beyond embarrassing. I continued taking the fin I kept having problems getting an erection I was depressed, I went to the dr and told him I was taking Fin for my hairline, he told me the sides and I almost flipped, needless to say I discontinued it, luckily the side effects went away once I stopped. That's just me though, you may not get anything, the way our bodies react to androgens are very different, some guys have testosterone levels at 300 with no effects other guys feel they have low testosterone at 600 level. It does help in main ting your hair, you don't have much to maintain, but the only thing is the sides of your head are very high that's the only thing you could maintain.
  22. Its definitely useful, it will also maintain your sides high, they may drop in the future, with that being said, the side effects are no joke, I suggest starting on a very low dose, I tried Finasteride and Dutasteride and unfortunately both gave me side effects that were not good for a young man. Have you tried minoxidil? only side effect I get that from that is itchy scalp but thats nothing.
  23. Lalit, did you do any bodyhair by chance? are you on any hairloss medication like Finasteride or Minoxidil?
