  1. Looking good, man. At 5 months, I was still at that Is this it? stage. I'm at 7 months now from a procedure with Dr. K and as you can see from my avatar, it will only get better for you. And you have great hair characteristics. Start thinking about hairstyles.
  2. Yes, but you better have vast knowledge of film and of the filmmaking process itself to be taken seriously as a critic, otherwise who cares. Dr. Alexander, with all due respect, I was considering a HT with another doctor on this forum at one time and then I read one of his replies to a patient who was venting his frustration about his lack of results. The doctor came off as defensive and it turned me off to him. Regardless, interesting case. I'm at 7 months without the use of Acell and I've seen several impressive early growers on this forum, as well as enough of your other cases to trust that this is a legitimate posting.
  3. I used the mildest SLS-free shampoo I could find - California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo & Body Wash. Another mild SLS-free shampoo I used for a while - Fundamental Shampoo. Regenepure NT is pretty gentle as well. I've used them all on my grafted hair. If you have or develop dandruff or dermatitis, there are other shampoos to consider.
  4. Dr. K was my surgeon as well. How many grafts are you aiming for? I'm 7 months post-op - you can see my progress in my avatar. My hair loss was similar to Matt's. Complete frontal third restoration.
  5. Hard to tell really. I studied the angles and density, and they look in line with his existing hair, in some areas. There is usually a 'soft' area between the graft zone and existing hair that takes time to blend. Sometimes shock loss is a factor, the texture of the new hair, etc. Time will tell.
  6. You have two of the top hair restoration surgeons in the world in the Midwest - Dr. Raymond Konior in Chicago and Dr. Ron Shapiro in Minneapolis. I'd start there, but do not go to Bosley.
  7. I believe there was one other recently posted on here by Dr. Konior.
  8. In my case, I don't know whether it is shock loss or that the HT has hastened the demise of already miniaturizing/weak hairs, but I've experienced the same thing in my mid-scalp and crown behind my graft area. It is noticeably thinner than pre-HT. It's been discussed on here that HTs can accelerate hair loss in areas predisposed to MPB. It's a bit of a paradox of the game. I wish I could find the thread for you, but gillenator talked about it in detail when I asked him about it.
  9. Looking good. Time does start to fly once it starts coming in. Nearing 7 months myself. At every stage I found I was asking myself, Is this it? only to have continued improvement. Glad you're happy, man!
  10. As you know, it's a journey that takes place in real time. So while you're going through it, things come up. I'm always a little surprised that people come on here seeking information or advice about something they're experiencing before consulting their surgeon. But surgeons are human and don't necessarily have the answer or an adequate explanation/solution for everything. I also advise people to discuss alternative instructions with their surgeon before proceeding on a different course. Nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't mean you don't trust your surgeon or made a poor choice. I developed a severe case of dermatitis and informed my surgeon I was going to consult my dermatologist and he was cool with that, and I got his okay before I proceeded with my dermatologist's recommended treatment.
  11. I don't agree with the idea of blindly following your surgeon's advice just so you can win the debate of whether or not you followed the post-op instructions to the letter in the event of an unsatisfactory result. If I came on here seeking information because something didn't quite seem right with my surgeon's post-op instructions or it was out of step with what other surgeon's typically recommended, you better believe I'm going to challenge my surgeon on it.
  12. Not necessarily. You mentioned 5 and 10 year studies. In my case it started losing its effectiveness after 10 years, so I'd say I was a good responder. Especially when you consider the MPB in my family. Both my brother and father were pretty slick by the time they were 30. I'm in my late 40s and still have thin coverage in my mid-scalp and crown and had better than that until the past several years. I also think my HT might have contributed to more thinning, but would have to have my surgeon weigh in on that when he sees me again.
  13. What do you mean 'above their baselines?' I've been using it since 1997 - so for 17 years. It seems to have lost quite a bit of its effectiveness on my crown, especially in the last couple of years. I recently saw a picture of me taken 4 years ago from above and my crown was bushy and completely camouflaged with hair. That's no longer the case. I have to spend a little bit of time combing it a certain way for coverage. It's becoming see-through in some places.
  14. That's what it's all about, my man! It's only going to get better. I'm at 6.5 months and I'm surprised at how it keeps improving.
  15. My shed and thinning came in the mid-scalp and crown behind the recipient site. I didn't use it before my HT and haven't resumed using it since I stopped approximately 20 days post-op. I started 9-10 post-op.
  16. Whatever magic elixir he might be using or deal he made with the Hair Gods, I wish he'd share it with the rest of us.
  17. Good God…I seriously don't believe I've ever seen a better result.
  18. Sounds like you prescribe to this new bumper crop of internet 'gurus' that preach the gospel of 'the worse you treat a woman, the more she wants you. Be a challenge.' Must be a generational thing, because my father loved and adored, honored and respected my mother for 51 years. When it's right, it's right, and games shouldn't have to be played.
  19. Missed that. Agree with Matt. Some people on here have reported that overuse of Nizoral/Ketoconazole has caused excessive shedding. hsrp10 being one of them.
  20. Looking forward to hearing what Dr. K says about what you have remaining in your donor bank for added density. But based on what you stated above, I'd say your goals have been met. Congrats!
