  1. The graft breakdown looks good. I didn't get any 4s. And your ratio of 1s to 2s looks good. The 1s are for a softer, more natural hairline and the 2s and 3s help with density. You got about 400 more grafts than me. But my doc didn't think I needed more than 3,000 - that was the number also quoted to me by a few other doctors - but I pushed him for more. So he netted around 3,450.
  2. Are you using Neosporin or Bactrin on the suture line? That should help with itching.
  3. That's a nice result for the number of grafts and the area of coverage. How is his donor supply for possible future work?
  4. Absolutely ridiculous statement. Depends what you consider your prime. Sad if you think life peaks in your 20s or early 30s.
  5. I'm sure he is thinking of future loss as well. The meds won't save the frontal third. They just slow down the inevitable. The good news is your mid-scalp looks solid at 42, so 2,500 grafts into your frontal third is going to hold you for a while and make a dramatic difference in your cosmetic appearance. He'll 'march' a little bit into your already miniaturizing hairs that will be lost eventually anyway to time and genetics. This will make the transition zone more seamless as well as take into account future loss.
  6. I looked at your pics before reading your explanation. Sorry 'bout that.
  7. Great documentation, KD. Looking forward to your updates. Heal and grow well!
  8. Like I said, I ignored it for a month or so, put it out of my mind. To be honest, I don't know what the scar looks like because I can't find it. I had my daughter look and she couldn't find it either.
  9. Like there was a gap there. That's how I discovered it.
  10. Around two months post-op I noticed a rectangular bald patch around an area of my donor scar and became concerned that it was stretching. It made me anxious and I looked at it everyday for a couple of weeks. Then I finally decided that there wasn't anything I could do about it and tried to forget about it for a month. I did. When I looked again, I couldn't find it. The hair had grown back in so I attribute it to shock loss. There's nothing you can really do about it now, so try to forget about it and check it again in a month or so. Good luck.
  11. I really like the comb through portion of the videos. It's about as transparent as you can be.
  12. Wish I had your hair. Have to agree with hsrp10, the last pics look like cosmetic improvement was achieved.
  13. There is always a risk of permanently shocking out already miniaturizing/weak hairs with transplants. Even though I've been using Propecia since 1997, I've still experienced hair loss. It just slowed it down considerably. So you'll lose those already miniaturizing hairs in your crown eventually, it's just a matter of when and a HT can potentially speed that up.
  14. Keep those pictures, aditya94, because when you're 40 you'll wish you had that crown! And so will your friends. It doesn't look bad at all. It looks like it might be starting to thin a little, but you're using meds and that's the best step you can take at this point. Sounds like your friends are poking at an insecurity. You have a great head of hair, man. Now run along and live life and have fun. Check back in 5 years.
  15. Where were the majority of the 2300 grafts placed? If it was the frontal third, then you can take some comfort in knowing that what you may have lost from shock loss you will get back in new growth (if the shock loss is permanent). So you may very well end up where you were four months pre-op. If the shock loss is temporary, then you will see improvement through new growth and recovery of shocked out hair.
  16. Midwest00, I just read about your journey. What an emotional roller coaster this must have been for you. Wishing you the best in every regard.
  17. Scar5 is right, you gotta try and adjust your mindset. Luckily, I am able to wear a hat in my line of work, so I've been hiding under one for the past 5 months, while looking like a 'weirdo' underneath. That doesn't mean I haven't been self-conscious about the hat - my colleagues have made comments. I even had someone say 'Are you bald underneath?' I'd check out 1978matt's thread - he mentions his approach after his first haircut at 21 days: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/171968-raymond-konior-md-4-320-fut-grafts-august-2013-a-5.html
  18. Friends can be harsh when it comes to things like hair loss. They seem to get off on pointing it out. I know, because when I was your age there was this one guy who made a comment about my receding hairline, placed his fingers on my forehead and said I had a 'four-finger forehead.' Trust me, I wish I had a four-finger forehead now! I imagine you are sensitive about it because of their comments, but it's probably not as bad as you think. Posting some pics on here would allow members to better assess your situation.
  19. When I saw your before pictures, my first reaction was, "Why the hell…" and then I saw your result. Looks great. Congrats.
  20. I agree with everyone about the meds - at the very least Propecia (Fin) to preserve the mid-scalp and crown. It's incredibly effective. As for the number of grafts you need, I would consult several physicians on your list - pretty soon a picture will emerge. The top 3 surgeons on my list all quoted about the same number of grafts.
  21. Looking forward to seeing the 12-month result.
