  1. Totally impressive work. You're headed for some great results in the next few months.
  2. The line does look abrupt now but wait and see how it looks like when it grows in. With longer hair you can probably make it completely unnoticeable (many people have natural "holes" in their hair coverage, birthmarks, injuries etc. and they are not visible unless they are really big). Try to relax and see what happens. I'd suggest wearing a hat in the meantime.
  3. Also, some people have naturally high hairlines, and apparently they're able to control the hairline with the "Roman" haircut:
  4. Yeah, I've always wondered about the same thing. For me (NW6-7) it also made more sense to go back to NW3-4, but all the doctors I talked to advised me to address the hairline first. It is true that the hairline frames the face and that it is what most people see when talking to you. On the other hand a youthful/NW1 hairline thinning towards the crown looks very unnatural to me (although not unheard of, like Zidane). I tried to find a middle ground by asking for the highest possible hairline ("conservative" in the HL lingo), but I have yet to see how it will turn out at the end.
  5. How much of it did you use man? Go see allergologist.
  6. I am seeing a lot of shedding one month after starting Propecia/Finasteride, both on scalp and in the donor area. And yes, the hairs seem to be thin. Is that a good sign? It kind of freaked me out.
  7. That is a good question for a doctor. The only thing I can think of could be that your surgeon might have transplanted hair from the "unsafe" area.
  8. I second that. I can't tell if they work, but they are a major pain to use. Depending on the model, you'll need to hold it on your head up to 15 minutes, continuously changing position, never knowing whether you are covering the whole area properly, and inevitably causing fatigue in your arms. I gave it up after a few months.
  9. Try another doctor, or hair restoration clinics, they can also give you a prescription for Proscar/Finasteride. My doctor made no issues about cutting the pill.
  10. Same here. I used it anyway, twice so far, first time after 2 months. I was careful on the recipient area and tried to touch the skin as little as possible, and with the plastic cover on of course. I had to do it because with new and old hair my head looked like one hot mess. I will now probably leave it as it is for a couple of months.
  11. Your hair looks great and full and there is no reason to undergo surgery if you can get fixed by medication. If I were you, I would start Propecia + Rogaine immediately, and reconsider surgery in a year or two. Because you are in the early stages you can get great results, including regrowth. I wish the medication was available when I was at your stage of MPB.
  12. Hey man, can you post some pics? I'm curious about your progress.
  13. Dr. Maral had an African guy at the same time I had my surgery, and he said that it was difficult to extract the grafts from his donor area but they made it. I saw the guy the next day and he seemed OK post-op, but I forgot his email address. Maybe you can ask Dr. Maral to get you two in touch? Again, I'm still waiting for my results to mature, so I'm not making any suggestions yet
  14. I see what you mean, but none of us really needs an HT, even when we're NW7. It is what we want to do, for a number of reasons. This guy's hair really looks amazing after his HT and with medication he will very likely be OK until his early to mid 30s or so (he looks like early 20s to me). If he can afford it, why not?
  15. I would strongly suggest that you check this up with a doctor. Needles in scalp = potential hurting of hair grafts = sounds dubious.
  16. It is one thing to have a flight (even a long one), and another to extensively travel overseas, drive through Texas and whatnot.
  17. 1/4 of a 5 mg tablet is actually 1.25 mg There should be no problem at all, however I cut my Proscar in 5 pieces. Here is how:
  18. Hah, I don't know. I am occasionally feeling some itch on the scalp and I had a crazy idea that this is from the hairs that come out from under the skin I don't know man, if it is then it's good for you, either way something will eventually appear. And there is no way that I don't examine my hair at least three times a day--each time I apply Rogaine and take a shower--to confirm that there are new short hairs filling in...
  19. I had a FUE and I don't think it's a good idea at all. Travel for the first 10 days and leave at least 7 remaining days for recovery. No matter how good and clean the surgery, you will have up to 10.000 (+/-) relatively deep incisions on your head, tons of local anesthetics, painkillers and other drugs. You will feel uncomfortable on the sun for the first couple of days. You'll be all drowsy from the drugs and shock of the operation for days. You will likely have some swelling on the days 3-5, even with antihistamines, and you might be lying for hours with ice on your forehead. Believe me, it is not a good time to travel, especially not overseas. Of course it might be easier if you are having a smaller intervention, but I would still strongly dissuade you from doing that.
  20. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. I think you should by all means protect your head from direct exposure to the sun. However the incisions will heal faster if the head is uncovered. I don't think wearing a hat can obstruct hair growth, but depending on your skin type it can be bad for your scalp. Each time I wear a hat for a longer time (2-3 hours or more) I develop redness from sweating or get a zit on the recipient area.
