  1. I would try the minox trick. If it works then you potentially save a lot of money for something that takes 20 seconds daily. Not sure about using non scalp hair as donor. Sounds good in practice but probably less reliable. Downside of head hair is you will be having to trim them down at least once a week, but you probably know that already. Would suggest Farjo and Edward Ball as UK options.
  2. I've had kenalog injections for seasonal allergies in the past. Intramuscular. Works quite well for a few weeks then fades off. One potential side effect is permanent 'dimple' in the skin, and it supresses the immune system temporarily. I wouldn't mess around with it.
  3. This was my immediate thought too. Would suggest seeing him in person first before booking anything. It's difficult to see what's going on just from pictures. You able to say who the surgeon was?
  4. Dr K's techs actually do a lot of work so that he doesn't have to. They organise everything: Get the patient all prepped up and all the instruments ready. He literally just walks into the room, scrubs up and does the work, usually with 3 or 4 techs assisting, or more if it's FUT. Then on breaks he can go to his office, attend to emails for 5-10 minutes while the patient has a comfort break etc. The techs then sort everything out for the next session, e.g. FUE extractions from another area. It's like a military operation. I watched him perform an FUT surgery for a few hours in 2014, so have observed it both in and out of the chair.
  5. Not stupid at all. That would be easiest with FUT/strip. With FUE you would have to shave the back and the sides, but could still keep the hair on top long. Check out Elon Musk's recent weird (post HT?) haircut - something like that.
  6. NW3. You could have a HT for sure, 1500 to 2000 grafts tops, FUE. I would not go crazy with the hairline but aim for a lower and more solid NW2-3 shape.
  7. Maybe you can rub in a woman's facial concealer to soften the look of that temple. It looks a bit too dark and line is more defined versus the left side.
  8. https://shapiromedical.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/article_hairline-design.pdf Have a look at page 10 (labled p360) in the above pdf. See if the design of yours is off.
  9. No HT in my opinion, but has one of best make up teams. Old film cameras like the DUI photos can wash out hair and make you look more bald. Suspect he would have jumped on Fin in the late 90s.
  10. Slicked back also works but so too the side part. Basically any way the hair can layer over each other and lay flat will help block out light. Slicked back obviously helps more if you're disguising a thin crown.
  11. It looks about right to me for 2100 grafts. I went back and see that it was around 4500 hairs, which is slightly on low side, perhaps because of donor limitations. I think he has done the right thing in not pushing the density too high at the front. As the apex to crown area may continue to thin slowly over time it will retain a more natural look than having a ton of density in a small area. Doing a side part style and layering it flat will help reduce the see through effect in bright lights. But having a 'high' haircut myself I understand the appeal. If my hair is too short and there's spotlight or sun shining directly above it it can expose the limitations.
  12. Donor looks a bit below average. A little narrow and not the best density. By narrow I mean the surface area relative to the area on the top of your head you may need to cover over your lifetime. I would try to get on Fin and preserve what you have before anything else.
  13. If you have a good chance of being NW5 or worse I think having at least one good size FUT first is a good option. NW4 or lower you should be good for FUE alone. I've had nearly 13,000 hairs moved in total: 8000 FUT and 5000 FUE. The FUE resulted in the most noticeable change in the donor area. To imagine having started with 8000 FUE (instead of FUT) would have completely exhausted the donor area and left very little in reserve. That might be fine if I never progress beyond NW5, but there's no guarrantees. Even with the better FUE techniques I think I'd still start FUT for my own particular case. I can shave the sides to a grade 4 comfortably though a grade 3 is not quite so good on one side. That said, it would need to be someone who knew about HTs to know it was an FUT scar. I feel as though I gained about 3000 grafts in reserve from taking this approach. You trade a scar for the fullest possible outcome on top. Though not ideal, with a proper doctor i don't think an FUT scar should be any worse than 3-4mm, in which case you could put 300 FUE grafts into it if it really bothered you.
  14. Nice one Melvin. Looking forward to seeing this one develop over the coming months. Agree with the guys who said the buzz look looked good too.
  15. With hair like that I wouldn't get a HT. As for the number of grafts. temple to temple is probably about 20cm. Depending on hairline position, you might need to graft 1.5cm back into the old hairline. In terms of required density, say 45-50 per sq cm. 20 x 1.5 x 50 = 1,500 1,000 could also be valid if you just reinforce the existing hairline rather than drop it down. 20 x 1 x 50 = 1,000
  16. He used to do 3000-4000, sometimes up to 4500 FUT, up until about 4 or 5 years ago. Since then he's been trying to reduce the workload now he's getting into his early to mid 60s. Based off what I've seen the last few years he generally seems to cap things at around 3000 FUT or 2000 FUE.
  17. Have a look at T Sal and T Gel. Also Scalpicin, although I would not use this regularly as it's hydrocortisone and can thin the skin. An option might be to use the Scalpicin to clear things up intially, then maintain using shampoos. Interestingly T Sal contains Salycylic Acid which is the same stuff used in Wart remover, except lower concentration.
  18. Nice one. I think you've got some great donor hair there as it looks quite thick already.

  20. I think hair type plays a part. My hair sticks out straight and i can get away with grade 4 with no visibility, but to the trained eye, someone could pick it out at grade 3 or 2. If your donor is dense and lays flat you could potentially have no issues at 2 or 3, but as a working assumption I'd plan for grade 4. Anything better is a bonus.
