I went to Dr. Rahal for my last procedure and am a happy camper. I can't recommend him or his staff highly enough, however, if I lived in Chicago I can't see any reason to travel and not go to Dr. Konior.

It all comes down to your scalp laxity and donor density. Some people have been able to get 5,000+ grafts from a single strip procedure. Without knowing your scalp laxity or donor density, I would still be willing to say that you shouldn't have a problem extracting that many grafts, but there is always a chance you won't. Really only a doctor can tell you that from an in person consult.

I was wearing an adjustable snapback hat pretty much right after surgery to travel from the clinic to my hotel. As long as it doesn't touch the recipient area the first couple weeks, you will be fine.
-
At 1 month post op you can wear whatever hat you want. The only time to be really concerned is at about 2 weeks post op, you don't want anything touching or rubbing your grafts.

I would guess that the patient isn't willing to cut his hair to satisfy the desires of the clinic or the forum, I know I wouldn't be.- 17 replies

Dr. Epstein used to be recommended here, and he no longer is due to poor results, so that should tell you all you need to know about him. Every doctor is not equal as you know, and every doctor is not equal in terms of scar repair work. If I was you I would start by posting up some pics here so we can better help you, and then I would schedule a consult with Dr. Glenn Charles in Boca Raton, he is a good surgeon and seems like a genuine guy who will steer you in the right direction. It is really going to come down to whether a scar revision or fue into the scar is your best option, again pics would be helpful.

That sucks man, but playing the market like the lottery is not a good idea. You should really never invest more money than your willing to lose in riskier stocks. If you don't mind me asking what company was it?

Was it a mistake to get FUT?
greatjob replied to Torip's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Since you've already gone the strip route and have shown no signs of poor scarring, I personally wouldn't switch up to fue until you're absolutely certain it will be your last procedure, that is of course assuming you're trying to maximize your donor. If it will be your last and you think you have that many grafts available from fue, then why not go to turkey or one of the cheaper places where doctors are performing great fue for a cheap price. -

I have always liked you matt, but not anymore...I hate you because I am so jealous... -
Yes I mean 30 5mg tablets, I have checked every pharmacy local to me and they are all around the same price, and every hair transplant doctor no longer sells them. I am located in the U.S. on the west coast/south west.

Basically anyone can post there without question, and all of the negative posts are very vague and general, whereas the positive reviews are very specific and real. If you need real reviews of Dr. Rahal search here for patient results, I would be more than willing to help you as I'm sure Can't decide would be as well, and every other Rahal patient active on this site.

It's the same drug, finasteride. Proscar comes in the form of 5mg finasteride pills that was originally used for the treatment of enlarged prostate, hairloss patients quarter the pill to get 1.25 mg of finasteride per dose. This is usually a more cost effective option compared to propecia, which contains 1 mg of finasteride. Cliff notes: They are the same drug, just in different doses and designed for different uses.

Joe I have read your posts on generic vs. name brand proscar and I have been wanting to give name brand proscar a run, but I have found it difficult to find a legit source at a decent price. All of the pharmacy's in my area are quoting around $170 for a four month supply, and that is compared to the generic costing me $9 for a four month supply. I have checked with the clinics in my area, even some of the bad ones, and no one seems to be selling the meds anymore. Do you happen to know of a reputable online source for name brand proscar at a reasonable price? I've recently started to think that I my have gotten a bad batch since my pharmacy switched labs.

I am really having trouble following your rambling posts, but I can't say I would be upset if fue or a less invasive procedure rendered strip obsolete, but we are not there yet. However, when you say yield is where strip could hit fue where it hurts is contradictory to your own idea that fue myths have been dismissed. Because the yield myth has been dismissed, the real reason why strip is still the better option for some patients in donor availability, for some people (like me) the only way to achieve enough grafts is from strip. For patients with low density, good laxity and advanced loss strip is still the best option, and if you can't accept that then you can't see past your own experience. -
If you are worried about total donor available and already have a strip scar, it doesn't make much sense to turn to fue at this point, unless you are older, have minimal loss and have minimal loss in your family. It would really help to know how old you are, how advanced your loss is, are you on meds, and it would be extremely helpful if you would post up some pics. I can empathize with you, I had a procedure at age 24 when I was very naive about hair transplants with a recommended doctor who promised me the world with a 800+ graft procedure for me when I was a extremely thinned NW 6. Needless to say I was very disapointed and lived the last 7 years of my life with a terrible head of hair and unable to shave down.

Donor scar options
greatjob replied to Cautiouslyconsidering's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
We are "hating" on you because your posts have since the beginning sounded like a typical clinic shill, you bash every other clinic/technique, tirelessly promote your clinic, and your clinic has had numerous verified shills here posting from the same IP addresses. No one here likes these kinds of tactics to drum up business, they are unethical and we call them out when we see them. I personally believe you have received some compensation from HTI for your work on the forums, whether it be money or free procedures. Making recommendations to friends and family is not the same as going on a public forum with a high profile and violating or circumventing the terms of service of the forum to solicit business for HTI. -
