  1. Are any cats harmed during the procedure or do they used ones that are already dead?
  2. Yes from what i've seen the wait is a few months in many if not most cases. But once you do your consults, they will tell you what they have available. Also, I agree with one of the posters above that its not necessarily the case that there are no risks with a strip scar. I have seen some very thin and acceptable scars posted here but also many not so good. I ended up going the fue route. Good luck in your research and consults.
  3. Most of the top clinics are usually booked out for a few months but sometimes there are cancelations and you can get in sooner. Cooley has shown some good results. Who else are you considering at this point?
  4. As for the number of grafts you would need, its best to do an in person consult with a few docs to get the advice. Are you thinking of fut or fue?
  5. I think it would great if Dr. Bisanga joined this forum. I've had 5700 fue with him and have been extremely happy with the results. He is well known for his fue work which is why I went to him. What is less known about him is that his strip work is amazing too. You will see this in his results for sure. I can tell you first hand that he truly cares about his patients and will only do whats best for them. He has my vote 100%, I think he will make a great contribution to this forum!
  6. Hi Stublue, It looks like you're on track. Keep us posted.
  7. Stinger. that sounds like good reasoning. That is the exact same analysis I went through and came up with the same conclusion.
  8. Futguy I agree with faizy that if you lost a graft there would have been flowing blood. All looks normal.
  9. Futguy, the pics look normal to me. The scabs will eventually come off but you can gently massage them during a tub soak to help them along.
  10. Hi Orlhair1, Welcome to the fue club. I think this is going to look really good. Your hair characteristics will make it even better. Great scar too!
  11. Yea I know what you mean. I was a little star struck when I first met him. After months of reading about his world class results, he had a bit of rock star status in my mind but he will put you at ease quickly.
  12. Mickey, Dr. Bisanga is quite easy to talk to and very personable. When I was consulting with him, he put me at ease very quickly and spent quite a bit of time discussing not just my goals but about the ht industry in general.
  13. Thanks Mickey. Yea the donor is pretty solid. I'm told I have more grafts in the bank if needed also.
  14. Hi All, Here are some updated pics at 3 months post op. I made it through the ugly duckling phase. Its hard to tell from the pics whats going on but there are some news hairs coming through which is always a good sign at this stage.
  15. Sorry, I couldn't resist that one You have a fantastic result and an amazing head of hair at this point! You are a great example of why fue is a good option.
  16. I suggest meeting several docs in person for thorough evaluation before making a final decision. Also, as has been said, you should really give consideration to European doctors for fue. Bisanga does consultations on the east coast from time to time in the DC area. Have fun with your research and keep us posted as to what you decide.
  17. It sounds like shock loss. It should taper off soon.
  18. You're definitely a man with hair at this point. I would love to see more pics and hear the details of the second op. I'm happy for you!
  19. It would depend on the donor density in the area above the ears of course but with average density easily several hundred grafts could be taken.
  20. There is a certain amount of maturing that can go on at your age where there is some minor recession at the temples and doesn't mean you're going bald. I'm not sure you even have that going on at this point. I would have to agree with your doctor that you don't even need meds. Just enjoy your hair!
  21. Hi Zaxter, Welcome. Finding this site is a huge boost in the research. As for the prices, those can vary quite a bit per clinic. Generally fue is more expensive than strip. I know this is easy to say and hard to do but don't let price dictate which method you choose. Some clinics post the prices on their individual sites. So you will probably be able to get some idea what to expect. You seem to have realistic goals. You may want to submit pics for online consults to get graft and price estimates. Good luck with your research and feel free to hit me up if I can answer any questions for you,
  22. I read a thread on here about seasonal shedding. Basically its was saying that our transplanted hair will shed periodically and then come back. You may be able to search that in this forum and find it. Also, It could simply be your perception. My hair looks thinner sometimes also. Most likely its nothing to worry about.
