Should I do HT on crown? 29 M

Recommended Posts

Been on fin+minox for 10 + years. My hairline is fine, however the crown has been slowly receding. I cut my hair a while back short, which made the hair loss situation much more obvious. However, once the hair gets longer in conjunction with the "back-slick" style, its hardly noticeable.

Would you do a HT at this point, or am I exaggerating?

Personally, I believe it is an industry unwritten rule to hold off crown restoration until mid 30's.

Just keep the longer hair style if you are concerned about covering the crown? It barely looks noticeable when your hair is longer.

I wouldn’t get surgery. You barely have any hair loss.

Definitely don't get surgery yet.  You have too much native hair remaining to risk losing it to shock loss.

Yeah, I regret cutting it short now. But even when I have longer hair, I tend to use back-slick as it covers the thinning vortex better.

Yea, that's actually what worries me - that a HT may accelerate the hair loss. However I've been in contact with one hair transplant clinic and they said I was a good candidate so IDK. Maybe it's just sales-talk.

Who was the clinic ? Most will agree to do a HT even when it’s not needed unfortunately. Ethical and this industry are not synonymous 🤨

I don't think you need surgery at this point. Talk to your doctor about possibly switching from finasteride to dustasteride

My advice does not constitute a patient-physician relationship nor as medical advice and all medical questions/concerns should be addressed to your medical provider.

To echo everyone else's sentiments... No. Save your money & hassle. The loss is very minor, and therefore the cosmetic difference post-HT is going to be very minor as well. Not worth it at this stage.

Stick to your regimen and leave it for as long as you can. You hair loss will likely slow down a bit as you enter your 30's anyway and you may not ever need a HT.

It is just sales talk. You have so much to risk and so little to gain at this point. I understand your frustration but I would hold off and continue styling it longer. All the best!
