Toilet Breaks During Transplant

Recommended Posts

During my transplant in December I got up to use the toilet several times. I passed fluid several times that day, perhaps I drank too much water at breakfast and I was nervous and what not. Did anyone else do this? Surely it doesn't interfere with things.

No it does not interfere with anything. I have had hts where i have been the same. With me it was anxiety making me go more.

Yes that may well be related to fluids. But also steroids given in many clinics for swelling can have a mild diuretic effect. It does happen with many patients.

I remember really holding it in so I wouldn't interrupt the doctor's flow (no pun intended) in extracting grafts.

yea I needed to more frequently during surgery, from the start I'm thinking that I don't want to slow down or break up the momentum of the staff doing the work, and of course when you think about something it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. lol

Are you asking if anyone experienced more frequent urination during surgery?

Sort of yeah. I had to keep asking for toilet breaks and I felt like it disruoted the process a little.

Very interesting. A mild diuretic effect from steroids. That would make sense because I probably took about 5 breaks throughout the day. Cheers.

That's exactly how I felt. I kept thinking that I was disruoting the process by going to the toilet.
