Regular Member Ukspurs Posted October 4, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted October 4, 2020 Hey all, This will be my second FUE procedure, having previously had just over 1000 hairline grafts with Dr Reddy in 2018. I’m wanting to increase the density of my hairline, particularly throughout the right side, with a small increase in density in the left temple area. As the right side of my hairline is less dense it gives the impression of being higher up my forehead compared to the left side. I did research on various forums and liked what I saw from Dr Arshad and his team. I had a free video consultation with the clinic manager and then Dr Arshad himself. One of the features of a natural looking hairline is that it is asymmetrical. Are you taking finasteride to try and stabalise your hair loss? All the best and thanks for sharing. Regular Member Ukspurs Posted October 5, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 5, 2020 Hey, Yeh, I still expect the hairline to be asymmetrical, just not as asymmetrical, if that makes sense. I style one side up and the other down to even it out a bit. Don’t get me wrong, the hairline now is pretty good, but I’ve seen people post pictures of a ‘second pass’ in their hairlines and it has really improved it. I just feel that some more density would really complete mine. I’ll be sure to post some pictures soon. With relation to medication Ive used propecia for years, I continue to take 1mg per day. Regular Member Ukspurs Posted October 7, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 7, 2020 Hey all, Just a quick update from my surgery with Dr Arshad at the Hair Dr clinic in Dewsbury. Dr Arshad examined my donor area and commented how good it was. We spoke in detail regarding the hairline for quite a while, Dr Arshad thought about 750 grafts in total would achieve what I wanted. The price was £4 per graft due to the surgery taking place in an area where I had previously had FUE. I ended up having 1117 grafts, as quite a few of my grafts, despite looking like singles were actually doubles when viewed under the microscope. This was no problem due to my extensive donor area. I was not charged for these extra grafts, they were used on the left side of the hairline, and in the mid scalp areas where I was beginning to thin. The plan was to put some grafts in there anyway. I guess this shows the importance of using a proper microscope to check the grafts. I was looked after really well on the day from start to finish. They were happy to let me take photos throughout if I wanted but to be honest I couldn’t be bothered. Someone from the clinic telephoned me today (day after surgery) to check if everything was ok, which was nice. They also have a WhatsApp chat that someone mans 24/7, another nice touch. I’m someone that works in healthcare as a nurse and has quite high standards. I found that Dr Arshad and his team were excellent throughout. Any questions feel free to ask. Senior Member Curious25 Posted October 7, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2020 I've seen a few good patient results from Dr A over the last year and a bit across the forums - I think he managed to get quite a few K grafts out of a patient who had already undergone perhaps 3x FUE procedures beforehand as well due to his aggressive surgical approach which I quite liked the sound of. Anyway, I wish you well and I'm sure you will have great growth, the work looks nice and clean, and going off your profession I'm sure when it comes to post op aftercare you will be on the ball. I hadn’t seen many Dr Reddy results recently. He is now based only in London, which is quite a distance from me. It was ages to get an appointment with him even for an initial consultation which would be £200. I was seeing quite a lot of good work on other forums from Dr Arshad. It was closer to where I live and I was able to get a free consultation (within a few weeks). Would this not technically have qualified as part of your follow up in respect to the ongoing nature of your hair restoration with the clinic? Anyway, I’m glad you found Dr A and were able to be fitted in. Any noticeable differences of practices or techniques between the two surgeries that you noticed? Will be following with interest. Dr Reddy did odd weekends there, this was separate to his primary place of work at the Harley Street Clinic, so in essence they were completely separate clinics. I said to the Harley Street Clinic representative over the phone that I’d had a procedure done with Dr Reddy 2 years ago at a different clinic and they said I’d need another consultation. Perhaps if I’d have insisted they send a message to Dr Reddy directly it may have been different. With regards to differences and techniques. Dr Arshad used a motorised punch, Dr Reddy primarily used a manual punch, now and then he switched to a motorised one. Dr Arshad had a big high powered microscope in the corner with a dedicated individual checking all the grafts. You are also fussed over a bit more at the hair dr clinic, in a good way. They also give you a bag to take home and in that is all the medication you need, even down to the paracetamol, ibuprofen and the shampoo. Furthermore you are provided with a little chart to complete, see pic below. Just loads of little things impressed me.
