User6257473
Just wanted any second opinions as to whether my crown is starting to go or not? I’m 20 years old and I’ve always had quite a visible crown, not sure if I’m just being paranoid or if there might be something to worry about

I’ve just taken this if it helps give a different view of it. Been trying not to take too many photos so not to worry myself too much Edited May 8, 2020 by User6257473
Senior Member makehairgreatagain Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 It looks good but the overexposure makes it really hard to tell. Your whorl looks like its expanding out a bit. Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to your hair. Are you on/using anything now?

I’ve been using Rogaine for maybe the past year and a half I think? However whether it’s doing any good or not I’m not sure
Senior Member makehairgreatagain Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) That picture looks great. If you're really concerned, you can email a surgeon recommended here and see what they have to say and also if Finasteride is in your future Edited May 8, 2020 by makehairgreatagain Typo

And I’ll keep that in mind if I ever feel as if it’s getting worse. Thanks man
Senior Member makehairgreatagain Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 Just be proactive and look into it sooner rather than later. I know I wish I did

Senior Member giegnosiganoe Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 Honestly, this early on it's probably hard to tell until you get down there with a microscope. Try to schedule an appointment with a hair specialist/dermatologist to get a good look at it. If you really are in the early stages of balding, you will be very glad to have known about it so you can start taking finasteride.

There’s some history of hair loss in the family. My dad went bald on top in his early to mid 30’s, but then my granddad on my mums side passed away in his 70’s with a full head of hair, so there’s no clear cut apparent direction for how I might end up
Senior Member HairFunk Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 Hope you have your Grandads genes. Best to monitor it over the next few years! Worst comes to the worst and you do notice it going, you could start a course of Saw Palmetto (natural DHT inhibitor) or even Finasteride 2-3 times per week. Wait a few more years first as it looks perfectly OK.
Senior Member TorontoMan Posted May 8, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted May 8, 2020 I believe the lighting in your photo is overexposing a natural swirl. I had it growing up and at 27 now I still do. Regardless, at 20 years of age it’s great that you’ve paid attention, you’re in a position to be proactive about your hair going forward. Monitor every so often, don’t unnecessarily fixate, and see how it progresses.
