2265 grafts with dr demisroy of turkey

okay guys here we go my review

i had first transplant approx 18 months ago via strip in poland with dr saifi

this surgery was a success i have to a state that .

however i felt he was quite conservative and my hairline did not turn out as dense as i would like .

so i had lots to think about .!!!!!

i wish i did not go down the strip route the first time . i know no point now crying over spilt milk . the reason i say is this is THERES NO REASON TO HAVE STRIP if considering hair transplant for norwood 1-5

i had 1500 grafts first time around and i was left with linear scar and as a result cannot cut my hair any shorter than a number 3 guard :(

i researched this forum for long time and discovered that turkey is hotbed for fue surgery .

i hope you all have read mickey85s thread re fue vs fut , please do as it is invaluable !!!!

so i decided i wanted more density as first tranplant did not achieve this.you can see this from pics below

i seen lots of great results on foreign forums of dr demisroy and decided he was doc for me

i booked with health travel agent clemens weber. he immediately was honest and forthcoming with what was possible. remember i have been member of this forum for few years so quite educated .

they are a german company based in Istanbul . they organised times and pickups from airport to hotel etc

fast forward to journey to istanbul

after sleeping in the morning of journey :( I gathered myself and set of to airport feeling no way back now .I took my flight to London and caught connection to Istanbul .im not a great flyer so sleeping pill sorted this.

i arrived in istanbul and was instantly greeted by driver holding my namecard up .we made our way to car and started the long journey to hotel based in Asian side of turkey.i say long ,I arrived 5.00pm this being rush hour . the traffic was unbelievable with people selling all sorts of things on the road from water to fruit.this poart of journey took approx. 1-1.5 hours.

I was brought to hotel and told id be picked up at half eight following morn .hotel was very clean with nice room offering aircon , tv , lovely bathroom .very pleased with hotel.

day of surgery;

I started of the day with nice breakfast based on 11th floor of hotel offering panoramic views over Istanbul :)

I was picked up by driver(dr demirsoy assistant) and brought to clinic ;we chatted a bitabout hair transplants. he asked about my prev strip procedure. it is my impression in turkey that strip procedure is thought of as prehistoric.

we arrived at clinic which is actually an apartment. I must say the clinic was immaculate and finished to very high standard .given coverings for my shoes upon entrance and greeted by Clemens weber who I had previous correspondence with.

I dicussed with Clemens about possible membership to network . his response was considering but membership is very expensive. this might be enforced b fact clinic is charging 1 euro a graft were other parts of world are charging 6 times that and more . iwould love to see recommended though .

after few cups of Turkish tea I met the doctor.

he greeted me with large smile and handshake and instantly started to inspect my hair. he told me it was quite thin at front but in general in good shape.also stated my curly hair would work great with transplantation.

dr demirsoy took me into consulting room and took pictures and here we discussed my hairline and my hopes.

we talked at great length about this .I wanted to bulk my hairline up and close temples .

dr said my hairline was fine the way it was and said it would not look natural if closed temples more. he would not budge on this as I persisted to tell him I wanted this. in the end I took his opinion. this enforced to me that dr demirsoy is very ethical.

the dr also showed me more pictures of results which were incredible .

again another point was I wished to not shave donor area or recipient area. we dismissed this as not possible as my hair not long enough and would not reach number of grafts needed. we opted then to only partial shave my head.

so doctor drew on hairline and went to work on shaving . we had a bit of humour at this with dr declaring himself"bad barber"

next was the injections to donor area .this was slightly painful but over relatively quite quickly . next came the punches with micrometer 0.7 punch.dr did punches and most of extractions with techs helping.

we stopped for nice lunch and set back again to make recipient holes. dr did all of this work .

next came placement of grafts which techs did all of this . I felt very comfortable with this.

I must say I found lying in fixed position very challenging ad at times could not wait fro operation to be over. no real pain as such just very hard lying all day.

so we were finished ;very glad to hear this :) took more pictures etc . dr told me we achieved 2265 grafts slightly more than the 1500-2000 grafts shooting for. I was pleased to hear this .dr also told me that as he est 1500 -2000 he would only charge for 2000. I therefore received 265 free of charge. this coupled with fact only 1 euro a graft I found more than generous. he claimed my present from him :)

so back to hotel arrived around half nine .had bite to eat and slept like a baby lol totally diff from prev strip which I was up most of night in intense pain.

day after surgery.

picked up from hotel around nine and brought to clinic for first wash .I was told what to do and given various washes, shampoos etc. said my goodbyes to techs/dr etc .they were very warming and ended with hugs etc. :)

brought to airport were I treated myself to several beer and flew home .

im so glad I went for surgery in turkey and can recommend dr demirsoy to anyone based on my experience.

lets hope my results echo my very positive experience .

only glad to answer any questions .

Congratulations! sounds like you had an overall positive experience like i did. You seem like an awesome candidate for this procedure btw, tons of grafts to spare by the looks of it. Please post some of the post-op pics if you can, so we can get a better idea of how the new graft placement looks like.

Cheers and happy growing :)

Very cool. The post-op pictures in your other thread look immaculate. The hairline, graft placement and angles are all very intricate and precise. I really think you should post those pictures in another comment in this thread because that is some immaculate work :) How was Dr Demirsoy in person? Did you discuss his possible application on this forum? I think he charges 1EURO per graft? 2265 grafts into your already decent front half will be amazing. Please keep us updated.

PS did you fill in the strip scar?

hi mickey

yes im trying to merge the two threads in one.anyone got any ideas how to do this?

dr demirsoy speaks very little English .I had a patient advocate who translated. despite this I found him a very warm person, caring and felt very comfortable with him. .I can tell he has a lot of pride in his work .

I mentioned to patient advocate about membership. he told me his decision is based on high price to join network . Im going to update my original thread and add more info

I can understand the HTN fee being alot for Demirsoy considering he charges in the 1EURO range. Keser charges a ridiculous(by Turkish standards) 3.5EURO per graft and he doesn't even work on high norwood patterns!

Also looks like we have another ethical and skilled hidden gem in Turkey! Who would have thought Turkey would be one of the forefronts for FUE...

It is so strange that Turkey of all places(and Belgium) has embraced FUE considering it was invented in Australia and that North America decided(for the most part) that it was not worthy of developing further. Many eyes are now looking to Turkey(myself included) for cost-effective and minimally invasive hair procedures.

mickey ; cost was a big factor when considering . I just don't see point of paying more for something when no need.

I must say at one euro a graft I thought to good to be true . I don't see this price structure lasting though.

I may have got transplant for 1 euro a graft from a sureon who may turn out to be one of the best in the business

Exactly what i was thinking! I also wondered why his prices were so cheap. Could be that they are set to meet what locals can afford, but then again the area the clinic is located in is full of wealthy celebrities and football players. I was also told by his staff that he was offered several opportunities to perform surgeries abroad in countries like Dubai/UAE all of which he has turned down because he wants to remain close to his family. This is according to his secretary and agent.

His staff mostly work second jobs by the way. The secretary lady who makes you sign those medical contracts told me that she used to be an assistant/technician in his old clinic which was much bigger. She used to perform lazer hair removal and still does but at a different clinic now (after working hours) since the new place is much smaller. I found this out after asking why the pictures of the clinic on his website look different.

Ding,

Congratulations! The work looks very refined, and I'm glad you found a surgeon to meet your goals. I'll merge the two threads as well.

Dingdong,

Did you ice your forehead as instructed? Did the doctor put you on prednisone for swelling? I must say, that sounds terrible.

Please continue to update this thread, it is one that I am looking for to following.

Have you been doing your forehead massages regularly throughout the day? I was instructed to do this very regularly for the first few days and i had next to no swelling at all,

Bsically, with your fingers, start in the cntere of your forehead and work outwards and down into your cheeks, repeat.

With regard to prices being cheapoer in Turkey, the reasons for this are:

- High competition in the private healthcare industry

- Tax breaks and incentives from the government, especially for foreign travellers

- Subsidised investments to help continue to build the insutry and ensure it's the best/most cometitive around the globe.

Regards

going ; i knew this would be a possibility

spanker ; hi spanker . i have not been icing and doctor did not actually prescribe ant inflammatory medicine . i read a post lately saying that icing can actually make the swelling worse think it was dr carman. he did suggest a head band to help relieve swelling .

s2 driver. iv been lazy on the massage front . i have been doing exercises but not as much as suggested.

i think the swelling is gradually subsiding . i must say it is not painful just uncomfortable and leaves you housebound .

strangely my first ht i had no swelling at all .

The icing is suppose to prevent or reduce the swelling before it happens, however, once the damage is done swelling wise, I don't know that it would do any good.

I would like to read that post you are talking about, as it goes against everything that I know about the subject. The good thing is that it won't last much longer and it will be a thing of the past.
