Senior Member TommyLucchese Posted May 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Hair Restoration Site for Johnny B That result looks amazing to me and is the result I dream about if I do have a procedure. Here are my questions: Is this an unusually great result? Or does it look "better" because he has grown it long so it appears thicker? I have read that the hair can look too thin if it grows out long, but this result looks great long. Is it typical or a special case? I think I'm wording this poorly, but hopefully you get what I mean. Essentially, I'm wondering the chances of me having a procedure done and wielding the same kind of result. I know it depends on number of grafts, surgeon, my hair characteristics but taking all those aside - I just want to know if this result would be achieved by most people if they grew their hair out? 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week. Senior Member Cant decide Posted May 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 JBs result is great and it is not the norm. The amount of native hair you still have adding to density is the key. His result, as portrayed in the pics I think you are looking at, are not possible if transplanting to a totally bald scalp. His hair color also plays a huge role as well. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted May 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Tommy, Johnnyb's HT is one of the best I've ever seen. More likely than not, you won't have this kind of result. However, if you are only a NW 3 and have good hair characteristics the odds of a home run result are increased. Senior Member RCWest Posted May 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Johnny has one of the thickest transplanted hairlines I have ever seen. He also had over 5000 grafts in just the front half alone. That is a lot more than the usual 3000 ish that is usually placed in that size area. He still has strong hair in the back half and crown, and is on Finasteride. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Senior Member Icecreamman Posted May 6, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 6, 2012 Exactly what all the others have said. Not normal at all. Many factors involved I.e. Norwood level, number of grafts, hair characteristic, and maybe most importantly surgeon...

One thing i find interesting is when it was short at 9 months he was concerned about one side it was thinner than the other and to be honest it didn't look half as thick as it is now so i'd love to know and have asked him what does he think has given him this extraordinary thickness the length or maturing and he can't answer with conviction so we'll never know. Bonkerstonker! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1977 Update I'm now on 12200 Grafts, hair loss has been a thing of my past for years. Also I don't use minoxidil anymore I lost no hair coming off it. Reduced propecia to 1mg every other day. My surgeons were Dr Hasson x 4, Dr Wong x 2 Norton x1 I started losing my hair at 19 in 1999 I started using propecia and minoxidil in 2000 Had 7 hair transplants over 12200 grafts by way of strip but 700 were Fue From Norton in uk
Senior Member chrisdav Posted May 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2012 He had an unbelieveable transformation. Bleaching and highlighting is definitely beneficial in aiding the appearance of his hair. 2 poor unsatisfactory hair transplants performed in the UK. Based on vast research and meeting patients, I travelled to see Dr Feller in New York to get repaired.
Senior Member Jotronic Posted May 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted May 7, 2012 To be fair, one could argue that no single result is considered "typical". If we all had coarse light colored hair and a small area of loss in the front with 5000 plus grafts placed then yes, this would be a typical result. Most of us are not that blessed unfortunately so no, this is not typical. Make no mistake though, this is true high density placement and the blonde highlights have far less to do with the appearance of density than does the math behind the result. The length, the color, etc. are minor conditions that aid in the final result but it is the sheer numbers along with the placement, angle and direction that makes this result so good. I couldn't agree more...I think sometimes hair color compliments results...i.e..salt n pepper look, however in this case, this is sheer genius on part of the surgeon!!! Newhairplease!! Regular Member Masato Posted August 24, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted August 24, 2012 Do you guys think the same result could have been achieved via FUE (same amount of grafts) instead of strip? Could FUE ever come close to this? I've never seen a FUE case with long hair like that...

Could FUE ever come close to this? I've never seen a FUE case with long hair like that... I think there are many factors as to why Johnny b had such a killer result. 5000 grafts to the frontal third is a big part of it. To fue 5000 is a lot of time and money. Most likely you would have to have multiple sessions. Truth is, I haven't seen many fut surgeries that have had this killer of a result let alone fue, but anything is possible I guess... Senior Member Levrais Posted August 24, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted August 24, 2012 I agree with icecreamman, I'm not sure that this result could be duplicated at all. Its way above average to say the least 5700 FUE in 3 procedures with Dr. Bisanga View my patient website: http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1874
