  1. Originally minoxidil was applied in the treatment of hypertension and one of the resulting side effects was the growth of hair on the body.
  2. Bill is right. Its like the currency of an economy. IN GOD WE TRUST. Confidence, faith and trust is ALL we got.
  3. MPB will still progress. Took finasteride and Minoxidil, but hairloss continued to advance and was particularly noticeable after 2 years on meds. But it is good that you've had initial response and I hope that you delay your hair loss as long a possible
  4. I think it would not matter if the doctor can go to 4 cm or 40 cm. The surgeon needs to be judicious in the width of tissue that SHOULD be extracted. Additionally, factors such as tension in closing the excision would become critical. Donor supply is finite.
  5. thinkingaboutit, 1. 2nd time shockloss varies from person to person. More input from other members would be necessary in order for you to get a general idea as to what you may expect. 2. Some doctors prefer shaving the receipient area, as it may be easier invade the atrophic region. Shaving being done NOT to the skin. 3. Shaving (NOT to the skin) may be considered as "shockloss". 4. Shaving would not increase the graft survival rate. 5. You should have never stopped taking minoxidil, and if you were never on it. GET ON IT. Surgical intervention must be done synergistically with pharmaceutical intervention. This applies to finasteride too.
  6. Spirual, Takes some pictures and show us. "Clumps" indicates "patchy" hairloss, and as Bill indicated, this is abnormal. Hairloss at 50-150 hair per day is normal.
  7. After 15 days, your grafts would have been firmly secure. When my hairloss first started, it was so drastic, there were large "bulbs" of tissue at the base of the shedded hair. It was though entire follicular units were shed during the effluvium. Perhaps, you may be going through a shed. BUT NOT LOSING YOUR GRAFTS.
  8. mark_fields, Please contact the moderator about proper procedures for clinic promotion.
  9. Finasteride was originally designed for systemic use. Pharmacological effects will always be greater with systemic use of a drug. Just like if you start ingesting minoxidil, you will start to grow hair ALL over your body. Minoxidil too was designed for systemic use, but the side effect of hair growth, prompted its use in a topical manner.
  10. E-man is right. That is the standard procedure.
  11. I remember an instance, where my mother dyed her hair and the dye migrated into her scalp and down into her face, darkening her complexion (for a few weeks). We need to be careful. Bleaching via hydrogen peroxide, should be something that we must be careful about also.
  12. Dr M Humayun Mohmand, Maxxy is sharp and, perhaps also, your English may not be as good as ours. You may need to choose your words carefully, and defend your statements. Thanks for your clarification on your personal observed statistics.
  13. Microfibre camouflage. Depends on your level of baldness. Don't go in the water. It will wash off. Held in place by electro-statics, I believe. Could be wrong about that part.
  14. GTL, I have had similar experiences such as this. I started to use Folligen, which contains purified water and has copper peptides as its active ingredients. I believe Graftcyte (a topical product used post-operative HT) also contains copper peptides. You can try Folligen if you like and see how it reacts with your scalp. (This is a topical product, of course).
  15. hairtodaygone, YES. Minoxidil can work on all parts of your head. The reason why the pharamceutical companies (no need to call the names)says it can only work on the crown area, is because that is the area in which they carried out the scientific experimentations.
  16. Yeah, its called mass spectrometer analysis. www.unitedpharmacies.com www.genhair.com P.S. This will be the last time I recommend websites.
  17. Makhya, Start taking finasteride and minoxidil right away, if you are not on it already. And monitor your body for adverse side-effects of course.
  18. Makhya, While I cannot see your crown area, generally speaking, one requires 1000 grafts per level on the NW scale. You seem to be about NW5 and could head to 6 or 7 depending on your genetic pre-disposition. So to recreate the illusion of density, generally valued at 45 FU/cm2, at this point in time, you will need approximately 5000 grafts( and since the mean normal graft size is 2.2 hair per graft) that is approximately 11,000 hair. As thanatopsis_awry said, the first priority is re-establishing the hairline as without a hair line the eyes are no longer the face's main focus-point and the ocular attention becomes dispersed, oscillating between the face and the alopecia region. Also as thanatopsis_awry said, you will not get total coverage in one session, but will require multiple sessions throughout your lifetime in order to maintain the illusion of density. Only a few surgeons practise "megasession" where they transplant, more than the average 3000 grafts. You will need to investigate if you are a suitable candidate for this type of FUT. Hope this answers some of your concerns, and as always, I am open to criticism from the experts.
  19. Interestingly, Red Heads are supposed to have the coarsest hair of all human hair types (for the scalp, of course).
  20. Dr M Humayun Mohmand, Are these statistics for all HT patients or are they representative of your patients only? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
  21. Actually, on another thread a poster recently asked for recommended places to purchase cheap finasteride and I had to disclaim to him that while I had personally recommended a couple of websites, more than a couple of times, I have decided to desist from such action as it can be misconstrued as solicitation.
  22. Just search the internet. I have recommended a couple of websites on this forum a few times already and I do not want anyone to get the idea that I am soliciting business for them. Moreover I don't get paid by the businesses for the recommendations. Suffice it to say, cheap generics can be found in India, where there is a large pharmaceutical industry. Just search the internet.
  23. There all right. It doesn't look that bad. Cheer up
  24. Yeah I am metrosexual. When I was a kid....they would call them yuppies (Young Upwardly/Urban Progressive Professionals). I wanted to be like them when I was young and now that I am one... I need the hair to match.
