  1. That's right MSM is really used (primarily, I believe) for bone/joint issues.
  2. Yeah I know (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH)) but I just wanted to hear you say it (that you rip off the insurance companies)!
  3. bobby13, They are all right. Smoking reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of blood and consequently healing implications. Alcohol is gross quantities does not help either.
  4. lanthanos, 1.My finasteride comes from Cipla (which as you admit is an Indian pharmaceutical company). I'm holding the blister strip in my hand right now! 2. How does your insurance cover Proscar? Does your insurance company cover hairloss?!
  5. This sounds unethical and fraudelent. However you do pose a good question, which is how can a count be done of transplanted hair after HT? This leads to another question which is how many of the grafts actually survived? You will need to do the count as soon as possible in order to get the most realistic count, because about 10% of the grafts may die, after transplantation. The count should be done with a steroscopic microscope and I believe one can tell the transplanted hair (as distinct from the native atrophic) by the size of the hair shaft diameter and also the "bump" in the scalp at the base of the transplanted hair.
  6. Latin lotus is right. It may be possible that there can be an increase in hair diameter, though I am unaware of any scientific studies. The rate of hair growth is mainly genetic.
  7. The pharmacological effect is identical for all persons, however the physiological manifestation of the pharmacological effect varies from person to person.
  8. P.S. Look up Accutane, retin A, tretoin, etc. on this forum, to get a better idea about the interaction of vitamin A with the body/scalp hair growth
  9. You have to ingest a lot of vitamin A to have significant problems. You urinate out all vitamins except A, K, E and D. These are the ones that can do damage but a normal diet can supply you with enough vitamin A. NUHAIR = Snake oil
  10. Good stats and info kaounis and flyby. You need to know also HTHELP, as discussed in other threads: that scars will widen with time, but DO fade. There is a difference.
  11. Mid 2007 is almost a year and half ago. Probably not very effect. A couple or maybe three months, would have been acceptable. You can still try it and see if you have any direct and indirect effects. If not throw it away.
  12. You're confusing me. You need to explain yourself clearer when writing. I'll have to dig through my files to find the arguments against facial to scalp hair transplantation. You're welcome to research the topic. Again your satisfaction is what is important.
  13. Then why did you ask to begin with, if you've had first hand eye witness exposure. I have not had. The important thing is that you are satisfied.
  14. 22years, Both hair and nails are "DEAD", though organic. You cannot grind up nails, which are dead and inject it into your scalp and hope that your hair will grow. Most likely, your body will recognize, your own nails as foreign material, within the epidermis of the scalp and begin to attack it and/or calcify it. The only people who ground up nails/bones and planted it to hope that something will grow, were the Nazis, who ground up human remains to use as fertilizer for plants.
  15. wylie, I understand what you are getting at, and the answer is that the characteristics of facial hair (coarseness and shape of hair follicle, etc.)are somewhat different to scalp hair and I believe (not entirely sure) that it is not advisable to transplant hair from the face to the scalp.
  16. Raphael84, Bill is right. Despite, what you may have read, Minoxidil CANNOT increase the growth speed of your hair. The rate of hair growth has to do with the rate of cell division within the hair follicle. This is a PURELY genetic variable. This is why some persons, hair grows faster, than some others. Minoxidil works by vascular dialation, in addition to affecting potassium/sulphur channels (not to sure about this last part (K/Na)?) Minoxidil CAN increase the diameter of the hair shaft, but NOT the rate of cell division and consequently rate of hair growth.
  17. Chops, Generally speaking one needs 1000 grafts per level on the NW scale, so if you go to NW7, you will need 7000 grafts.
  18. Balboa, While this thread: http://hair-restoration-info.c...6710594&f=3466060861 which I initiated does not specifically ask about the remodelling of a new hair line, it does deal with the removal of non-atrophic hair from the top of the scalp to the another part, also, at the top of the scalp. Also you can view this thread about the reconstruction of the hairline, found here: http://hair-restoration-info.c...1079204&f=3466060861 I hope this helps!
  19. Shockloss has to do with nutrient blood supply being diverted to aid in the healing process of the newly transplanted grafts in the scalp and is mostly temporary. Permanent hairloss after HT happens to terminal hair that was already going to be miniaturized to vellus hair by the MPB process, regardless of the HT or use of minoxidil.
  20. Congratulations! As mentioned before, I especially like your "jagged" hairline. I too, will have an asymmetrical hairline re-constructed.
  21. Refrain from minoxidil for 1 week prior to surgery.
