  1. Phxind: Side effects are quite rare with Propecia. Try it, you will see. However, considering your predisposition regarding this drug, there is a great probability that you will get self-fulfilling prophecy, and end up getting side effects, caused by your head. Propecia works for me. I saw definite result after about 14 months. No side effects whatsoever.
  2. It looks like very clean work. Nice hairline design. Good luck and hope you will get good yield from this FUE procedure. Thanks for sharing your result. I will be eagerly follow your progress.
  3. Ringo: Your weblog is a bit confusing to follow. From what i can understand you had 1700 grafts done by MHR. Considering your baldness, and even discounting the fact that you had some toppik on the pictures, I think your result is amazing. It may be a bit thin but you should have gone with the MHR doctor opinion to add an extra 1700 grafts to the initial quote of 1700 grafts. I don't see where MHR can be blamed in this case. I have less extensive loss than you, yet if i had 1700 grafts, i would be disappointed as well...even in hands of a good Coalition doctor like dr. Cooley.
  4. Welcome to this forum. You got some very good advice the other members. I would also advise that you do a thorough search on FUE technic, which so far, had delivered inconsistent results. The FUE yield is horrible, when compared to strip HT. Due to the number of grafts you require, I would not recommend FUE. Please add some pics of you so we can give you some more recommendations.
  5. Nice post Thana! Sometimes compromises are required. I would like also for that thread to stay. However, i can see the rational behind removing it since the lawsuit is settled. It is a small cost to pay in order to keep this site open, and not let HTN turn into HLH or worse, Hairsite. Beside, contrary to HLH, you guys can still post about Armani here...this current thread is the proof.
  6. Great result! I agree with Wantego. The top of your head had no incision yet it looks much more dense now. Propecia maybe?
  7. Bill and Eman: Even though i did the research, even though i know patience is key and even though i know that growth is not likely at the 3 month mark, it is still not easy to deal with the wait. Fortunately, I am able to share this and be reassured by you guys as well as many other here. Thanks.
  8. Thanks Leeson for the best wishes. Just a clarification here, most of us on this site are here to help and we all wish all HT patients to receive the best surgery and results. As such, we all deserve to get great results because the procedure is so damn expensive. However, on one hand, we get guys like Eman, Thana, Bill and so many other veterans, who did a thorough research before even attempting HT, who went to the best doctors, who followed post-op instructions to the letter, who share with us the details of their procedures, and most of all, spend a great deal of time helping newbies (like me) on this forum. On the other hand, we have guys who are too lazy doing any research, who relied on ad on TV/shill/or even their own incompetent doctor, and went to those hair mills; who barely saw or did not even remember the name of their HT doctor, who do not plan their HT properly; who went for FUE even though being specifically warned about its many HUGE limitations; who went to the closest or the cheapest doctors because they don't set their priorities straight... Let me ask you: who deserve to get a better results? Leeson, i see that you went through quite a bit of hacks in the past, and i sincerely wish you will get the best results from dr. Hasson. Please share with us your results.
  9. Month 3 update: (for more details please check my web log) Now the doldrum...It is really not easy to wait for the hair to grow. There is always this doubt in my head that the grafts may not grow. But so far, i have seen some small, fine growths, although difficult to see or compare in the photos. A couple of pimples here and there at the recipient as well as at the donor indicate the hair is getting back into life! As for the scar, shock loss is no longer a concern to me. It is also faded quite a bit since last month. No sign of scar stretch either. I guess the scalp exercise for 1 month before HT was helpful. I have no doubt that it will be very difficult to detect the scar a few months from now.
  10. dr. Cooley said not to put anything on the recipient or donor. I don't think anything can help with the redness, just time.
  11. Bill: toppik is not a liquid, but it does look like gun powder to me did they check the toppik when you went through?
  12. Another satisfied HT patient! Even, if there are no additional growth, the result looks great. Someone should send your pics/results to those anti-HT guys (Hopefull and Lost my swaggers). Thanks for being so diligent with your updates.
  13. First of all, forget about HT for now. Wait at least a year on Propecia. You may be surprised of the result. I did not see a difference at the 1 year mark, but 2 months later, i can definitely see a difference at the crown, and maybe on the temples as well. However, i had an HT on the temples 3 months ago, so now i will never know whether Propecia really works on my temples as well. You may want to wait 1 year anyway in order to save for a larger HT session, as opposed to have one small HT now and then plan for a second future HT session. I would run away from your local doctor, as 1500 grafts is clearly not sufficient. Stay with a doctor from the Coalition and you will not regret your decision.
  14. I am at the 3 month mark as well. Damn, the doldrum is not easy. A few growths here and there for me, but i have to admit that at times, I am wondering whether the grafts will grow. I guess the next few months will tell.
  15. mmhce: It is not my intention to hijack your thread. My inquiries to HairHope about healing is directly related to your initial post about time between transplants. Although it is addressed to HairHope, I am hoping that other members can chime in and answer the issue that i raised: how can recipient site heal faster/better with FUE? Last time i checked, Bill is the moderator of this forum. If he has an issue with my question, i believe he will let me know.
  16. I don't know if donor hair is thicker than say, the top for a non-balding individual. However, when someone is subjected to male baldness pattern, the hair in the balding areas is usually thinner than the donor. Note that the donor is usually thicker because, not only it has more 2-hair and 3-hair grafts but also the density (grafts per cm2) is also higher. Dr. Keene did a limited study and she founds that for non-balding males, the density at the hairline and temples is around 40-50 FU/cm2, while the back/donor is around 80 FU/cm2. Therefore, the required density for transplanting at the hairline/temples may be even lower than 40 fu/cm2.
  17. Hairhope: I don't get this. I assume you mean the redness at the recipient site? If that is the case, the healing at recipient area should be the same whether you have FUE or strip? I would like to know how FUE can reduce the redness at the recipient site, since the procedure of making incision and implanting of the grafts is the same for FUE and strip. I do agree that it takes more time to recover from a strip scar when compared to the many FUE mini scars. Comestically, however, I would say that a strip scar is less visible since it is usually covered by hair.
  18. Hairhope: You did not shave the recipient or the donor? I would expect that normally FUE HT requires you to shave the donor site (unless your hair is already very short), which will make the HT obvious. Do you have pictures to share? Good luck with the growth phase. Note that recovery time for strip can sometimes be quick as well, when shaving is not required. I was able to go back to work after 3 days. Thanks.
  19. Maxxy: I completely agree with you. What I meant was that i don't care for those hair products being peddled by Santeprog.
  20. Hairhope: I believe you are happy with your FUE result. Can you please share with us your result. So far i have not seen many great results from FUE. What is interesting is that you already had a strip before, thus you are definitely not choosing FUE because you are afraid of the strip scar. Come to think about it, why did you go with FUE the second time? Thanks.
  21. I would add: this applies to ANY profession. I am yet to see any dividend from my few thousands dollars procedure, but with hair growth coming up, i hope my income will increase as well
  22. I did not see the link but, who cares. There is only one proven hair growth product, and it is Propecia.
  23. I would advise to use a pill cutter, available at any pharmacy (around 5$), to cut Proscar instead of a knife as shown in the video. More precise and less risk of cutting your finger.
  24. I would not put Toppik in the recipient area until it is fully healed, around the 2 week mark. You need to keep the area as clean as possible. Can you share your pics?
  25. Like Bill said, any reputable doctor would not throw grafts away. On the other hand, i can compare to FUE with a yield rate of 50% (sometimes even lower), it is almost like you are throwing 50% of your grafts (and your money) away. Note that strip can generate low yield as well in the hands of inexperienced/incompetent doctors. However, with a Coalition doctor, you can generally expect a yield of over 90%.
