  1. It is really irrelevant whether a Coalition doc or a Bosley doc is in it for the money. All i care is the doc's skill and most importantly: the result. Similarly, i find it laughable when a patient is praising the doc because the latter was nice and caring to him.
  2. Follow up on my earlier post: higher density tends to lead to early growers, and then tend to lead to better or more satisfactory results. However, an important point to be remember is donor is limited and one should always try to properly plan the HT and save grafts as hair loss progresses. I would rather have an average (or lukewarm) result for my hairline, top, and crown, rather than have a great hairline/top but a balding crown, because there is not have enough grafts left.
  3. Hang in there. You are still at the four month mark, way to early to be worried. But i understand, as most of us went through this. I am just now slowly stepping out of the doldrum at the five month mark.
  4. How is the growth of second HT compared to the first HT? Six months may be just a little behind the average, so nothing to worry for now.
  5. I also vote the Shapiro proposal. If you were 24, i might think otherwise. The Wong hairline is a bit too conservative.
  6. I think grafts density play a major role here. Assuming doctor A plants at 50 grafts/cm2 and doctor B plants at 70 grafts/cm2. If both cases achieve a growth rate of 30% at the 3 month mark, we will obviously see more growth for the higher density case, even though the yield is the same. It is also likely that the second case will be perceived as an early grower compared to the first case.
  7. get a doctor who does not require shaving...cooley, keene, shapiro etc
  8. Yes, it does make much more sense to have strip, max out your laxity, then use FUE. The main (still debatable since FUE has scars as well) advantage of FUE over strip is the lack of scar. Why would one have FUE and then get strip which will create a scar afterward.
  9. I don't think it is just DHI that produced poor or no growth. It is FUE in general.
  10. At least 2 or 3 growths that you pointed out on the pics are transplanted grafts that did not shed. Actually it is quite easy to distinguish them from new growths. Their tip is quite thick because the grafts were shaven. New growths, on the other hand, are very fine and/or curly.
  11. 3 scenarios are possible: -real growth at 1.5 month mark (not likely) -growth from your transplanted grafts that did not shed (most likely) -you are seeing things (likely) you are really only look at your head 10 times a day?
  12. Good luck Drew. You pick a great doctor. I am not sure about the Proscar though, since your hair loss is so extensive
  13. Contact dr. Lindsey. He is a plastic surgeon as well. If he is not specialized in nose surgery, he may refer you to someone else.
  14. glocktop: I also get tired easily of scalp exercise. One way to get around that is to lie on a couch (like slouching), put your hands behind your head, and then push your head up against the couch. Then alternate and then push your head down. You can stay in these positions a longer period of time, without getting your arms tired. I don't think that there is a correlation between body fat and laxity. However, I agree that some fat guys have a few folds on the back of their head, and that can really help with HT. However, I don't think these fat people are self-conscious or vain enough to have HT anyway. As for body fat, unless you are an athlete or a serious body builder, I don't think it is normal to have body fat <15%.
  15. Damn metrosexual HT patients. They are never satisfied. When it the next penis enlargement surgery? I also think that nape hair is not permanent, therefore not worth to spend graft money on this.
  16. I had a sarah wrap over my head (sort of like a shower cap) and had a loose fitting cap over. This is to prevent the cap from touching the graft. However, to do it again, I would advise against wearing anything until the grafts are settled (around 7-10 days). It is not worth it.
  17. Bill: you took it wrong. I really think it will be fun to start a guess contest on your hair count. No bad intention here. You are right, I forgot that Dr. Hasson can't reveal your info publicly.
  18. PGP is saying out loud what some of us are thinking: how can H&W get such a large number of grafts when no other doctor on this planet can do the same. The obvious answer is the possibility of grafts cutting. It is somewhat similar to the claim by dr. Armani about 15K grafts patient, well we know how that debate ended... It is hard to attack an institution like H&W, but PGP was able to make them start to provide the information on hair count from now on...this is a sign of a true patient's advocate. Dr.Hasson, how about lets start by providing Bill's lastest HT hair count. Better yet, maybe just wait a bit so we can start another guessing game on Bill's hair count...some of us are salivating about getting another gift certificate from Amazon.com.
  19. It is refreshing for Mr.GQ to finally admit that FUE yield simply sucks.
  20. When there is so much native hairs, it is very difficult to see or compare the difference. I take my HT as an example. Even though i got grafts between native hairs (at the forelock) I have up comparing this area long time ago. I only monitor my progress at the temples areas since that area was completely bald, and hence much easier to compare. Be optimistic! Dr. Keene is a great doctor.
  21. A great mystery had been solved! (at least for me anyway). Lots of HT patients notice that one side has more growth or grow better than the other. Some of this can be explained by the better healing of one side vs the other, or maybe the skill of the planting technicians. Dr. Cooley just gave me an answer that greatly explains why my right temple has more growth than my left temple. Like most baldies, i have one side that has a larger bald area, in this case, my right temple. Since more grafts were planted in the right temple, it only makes sense that there are more growths in that area.
  22. just show us some pics. The ones on the web site's gallery are not very clear or convincing.
  23. lovestospoon: I think everything is ok so far. Try to be careful the first week but after that, the grafts are fairly secured. BTW, did you hear Bill scream when local anesthesia was injected
  24. It depends, but it is hard to believe that that donor is still tender after the one year mark. However, Spex is much more knowledgeable than me. In my case, the donor is no longer tender around the 2 or 3 month mark.
