  1. My month 8 results had been post on my weblog. Please check it out. I have achieved cosmetic improvement, but still hoping for more density. I obviously don't feel as bald as before and depending on the lighting, i can sometimes forget that i had HT or that i needed an HT. However, under harsh light, the temples are still thin and need more density.
  2. Month 6 update: please see my weblog for news pics. A few new growths (that i was able to notice) since last month, but not a lot. The change is mostly due to the thickening of the already grown transplanted hairs. I still see many hairs that are currently very fine and very hard to see in the picture but looking forward for the thickening of those hairs. At this point, when compared to my day 2 post-op pics, I am guessing that anywhere between 60% to 80% of the transplanted grafts grew. Note that when I look in the mirror, the result does not look as thin as in the pics. Unless under bright light, the result so far is very encouraging. I am obviously did not reach a satisfactory final result yet, but a huge difference compared to pre HT. I am optimistic with the thickening in the upcoming months. I also added some pics of my back, right after a haircut. This is my normal length pre HT. The scar is well hidden even at this length (i think clip 3). I am going to take a break from the forum for the summer and stop looking in the mirror. I will post my progress in about 2 months.
  3. Dr. Lindsey: I wish your daughter a quick and complete recovery, and certainly wish that you will ski with her next winter.
  4. Never heard anywhere that massaging the recipient site stimulates growth, so don't do it. At this point, only time can help.
  5. I think FDA is required only for offering to the general public, not when it is at the experimental stage.
  6. ss999: Right on schedule! Coming months would be exciting for you.
  7. Hairthere: It is worrying to see how some people are using flawed logic to prove a point. TakeAChance's main question is whether whether PRP works in terms of reverse hair thinning or hair regrowth. Side effects for him, is likely a secondary matter. If PRP does not work, what is the point of discussing side effects. Hairthere, why don't you should just tell him to take sugar for instance. We don't know whether sugar works with hairloss but obv, it does not cause side effects. On the second point, how can you be definitive that PRP does not have side effects, when in fact you admit yourself that you don't know whether it works and at this stage, it is still experimental. It is well known that there is no side effects when PRP is used for healing. However, it is another story when hundred of injections PRP are made with needle into the scalp. On top of that this treatment is likely not permanent, thus more injections are required. More scaring of the scalp tissue will not be very good for the recipient site. BTW, I had first hand experience with PRP, when Dr. Cooley incorporated that in my HT. There is a big difference of using PRP to help with the healing (which had been tested for numerous years) and using PRP to deal with hair regrowth (which is at the experimental stage).
  8. I agree with LMS, even though he can be conservative sometimes. You are probably not a good candidate for HT due to your age and family history. Go work out, get more muscles, shave your hair...
  9. grafts are secure by that time, but why do you want to massage the recipient site?
  10. You talk like it is a proven method. Until, it is proven to work, PRP is just hype/experimental/snake oil.
  11. it seems that statistically, there is a slightly a higher chance of getting hair loss pattern from the mother side than the father
  12. It may look thicker because of the dirt and oil attached to the hair anyway if it works for you and if your hair does not look too dirty, there is nothing wrong with washing it less often. However, one thing to be clear here, washing hair more often does NOT increase hair loss.
  13. jonrctim: Don't worry, i went through this myself as well, and i freak out a bit also. It will come back. In my case, it came back around month 4 and i am confident that by month 6 or 7, all traces of shockloss will be gone. Note that permanent shock loss is very rare.
  14. Thanks all for the encouragement. At this point, I am definitely not an early grower, however, hopefully the end result will turn out to be ok.
  15. 5 month mark: I am attempting to step out of the doldrum, not there yet. The temples thicken up and the transplanted hair get darker and longer compared with 4 month mark. The hairline is getting more and more defined, but is still very thin. I had more regrowths in the past month, tiny velus hairs, mostly hard to see. On the positive side, I am pleased with the hairline design and hairs angulation. In fact, it is very difficult to distinguish between the native hair from the transplanted hairs. Thus the result so far is very natural. Coming in the HT, i had 4 concerns: 1) Not having any regrowth - is no longer a concern; 2) Having permanent donor/recipient site shockloss: no longer a concern; 3) A bad scar: no longer a concern; 4) Whether i will have the result up to my satisfaction: it is still yet to be seen. Although I wished my progress to be faster, and the doldrum is never easy, I am satisfied with the development so far, considering that i should have many more months of improvement. Wish me luck. Please check my weblog for 5 month pics.
  16. I think 60$ per month is a fair deal for Propecia. However, I use Proscar (which is EXACTLY the same as Propecia) which costs 15$/month when i split it in four.
  17. You hair loss is not stabilized, therefore you should not do anything at this point. Considering your hair loss history, HT will probably not appropriate for you. My recommendation is shave it all off, and seriously go the gym 5 times a week. We will talk in a year, and count the number of women you will get. Hair is really overrated in term of sexual attractiveness.
  18. Side effects of finasteride is very very rare (around 2%). Don't even think about it. You will probably have a bigger probability than 2% of getting low growth or no growth HT.
  19. It is a very difficult(maybe even impossible) exercise to monitor the growth rate and when the transplanted grafts will get out of the resting phase. Just be patient and stop looking in the mirror. As for the growth of transplanted hairs, i would expect it to be the same speed as native hairs.
  20. GlenB: while Dr. Bernstein is a world class doctor, i find him to be somewhat conservative. That being said, he did examine you in person. Why don't you try with Dr. Feller who is in NY region as well. I would stay away from dr. Cole, too many controversies.
  21. Actually, i do agree that when i took valium (for my procedure), it felt pretty good as well I can see why some are addicted to this medication.
  22. this thread is starting to sound a lot like the other thread regarding dr. Epstein: http://hair-restoration-info.c...=954108522#954108522
  23. When i first start to explore this site, it was Robert's weblog that caught my attention and that was why I started to research a bit more on dr. Cooley. I did not know that Robert was a former moderator at that time though.
  24. Congratulation on your recent HT. I am glad that you had a great experience with dr. Konior. However, I would water down a bit your recommendation since you are yet to see your result.
