  1. Good luck Bill for your procedure tomorrow. Nobody deserves a better result than you. Enjoy your stay in Vancouver.
  2. JohnK: Are you going to answer my question, which is pretty legitimate.
  3. with strip, only the narrow (2-cm width) donor region is being shaven. This region is then extracted, thus leaving an even narrower area, which can then be easily cover with hair. with FUE, a large region (5-7cm width) is shaven, which is then impossible to hide the many small red dots. If the donor is not well distributed, this will leave patchy areas of hair.
  4. Congratulation! Please share with us your result. Good luck!
  5. Forget HT, how about this warning: -smoking may causes impotence -smoking may reduce the pool of potential mates If you were able to stop for 14 days, might as well continue.
  6. John K: Your post sounds very promotional, very similar to a few posts I have read the past year from some of Dr. Epstein's other patients...usually a first post, overly praising the doctor, one paragraph only, no pic to show, no reply when asked to post picture...enough said. Lets see if you can answer my question: what is the exact date of your first HT? If Dec 08 is the correct date, then your result is not out yet. Therefore, praising a doctor without fully grown result is premature and make me doubt your honesty.
  7. If it is done right, HT can be undetectable, as you can see with numerous photos here, as well as videos on youtube. Even if it is not done right, notwithstanding the old plug technology dated last decade, it is still probably undetectable to a hair layman.
  8. While i agree at the FUE has a faster donor healing time, I think that FUE has a longer down time, when compared to strip where shaving is not required, a comment echoed by dr. True who does both strip and FUE. (I can't find his article about this topic)This is due to the fact that FUE generally requires shaving of the donor site.
  9. No, cost is not a major factor. A major factor inhibitor for going with FUE is low growth and low yield. As our famous Thana had wrote: FUE is an inherently flawed procedure. As for the number of grafts, you definitely need over 4K. However, due to laxity issues, you may need to do it in more than one session. 6K as quoted by dr. Armani seems a bit excessive.
  10. The procedure of transplanting another person's hair is highly unethical and probably illegal, due to huge risks for little rewards. It is not recommended by modern medecine.
  11. New ones popping up would not be like a stubble. They are very fine and light. The stubbles you are mentioning are probably not growing transplanted hairs. You may pluck it to leave room for new growth.
  12. KMAN: Coming along nicely, and definitely more to come. Thanks for updating your progress.
  13. Abe: the last time i check, your doctor is Umar, not the other FUE doctor,so stop worrying. A month is early, the redness will be gone. It is good that you stop minox at the recipient area. Personally, i would stop minox everywhere as i don't believe in it anyway. Thank for the update, and good luck with the growth phase.
  14. thana: thanks for kudos, i am just show what people would want to see in the result. Hopefully, it can help them to make a decision. I certainly sometimes wish that more pictures from patients are available. Even better, a video. hairhope: thanks, i certainly hope so. Eman: you are right. The corner is not turn yet for me, contrary to you my friend. Actually, i don't think you can see the corner in your rear view anymore
  15. talking about hair envy, or i should say, envy of Eman's hair!
  16. It is funny that we can clone a whole creature like a sheep, but can't clone a hair follicle. From what i have read, while the injected hair cells do grow, the whole difficulty is regarding how to control the direction of hair once it starts to grow. I am certainly optimistic that it will be available in 5 years mainly because this generation of balding men are way more look conscious than the past generation. This means that the market is much bigger now than say in the 90's, which in turn the potential profit is much higher, thus more funding for research. Also with the internet, there are more collaborative tools available for scientists around the world, helping them to more easily share ideas. IMO, 'in the next 5 year' is equivalent now to perhaps 20-30 years to when someone mentioned this same sentence in year 2000.
  17. The telogen (resting) phase of the hair normally lasts 5-6 weeks. It is very unlikely that new growths occur after the 9 months mark. There will be some thickening and lengthening of the hair, but not new growths.
  18. hairseekerusa: Congratulation and good luck. While i have not gotten my final result yet, i am very pleased with my experience so far with Dr. Cooley. I am sure you already did lots of research and are now well prepared. It is now time to relax, knowing you did everything you could before HT. HT is really not that serious, nor it is a major surgery. If it can calms you, try to think of it like a visit to a dentist for a tooth extraction or root canal, although it will cost you a whole lot of money
  19. You will need at least 3000 grafts so 5000$ will be too low. Don't trust your hairstylist who obviously does not know what he/she is saying. Do lots of research. You came to the right place.
  20. Good luck unfortunate HT! Keep in mind however about Dr. Cooley's comment about variability of results. Be optimistic, but know that there factors that are beyond your doctor's control.
  21. yeah right, the waiting may be the best part for your audience, but it is definitely not that funny for those who are in the doldrum phase
  22. All this open discussion is nice. I applaud unfortunateHT for publishing his result on-line, and I do feel that he is in search of answers and his tone is not at all accusatory. While I can understand his disappointment, it is a pretty clear case of native hair being further recessed after HT. I don't see much wrong with Dr. Feller work here. The yield may be just a bit lower than what we usually see from Dr. Feller, hard to say. IMO, it is not sub-par result.
  23. Hey guys: My month 4 result pics were uploaded in my web log. Please check it out. I also uploaded a video of the hairline as well as the scar: Video of my month 4 hairline: Video of my month 4 scar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glaBIoE-GS4 More growth since month 3. The right temple grew quite well and i can see the hairline slowly being defined. I think there are about 2 to 3 times more growths when compared to the left temple. Don't know why, maybe some vascular issues. However, i am optimistic as there are a lots of fine hairs starting to grow in the left temples. Although a bit premature, i added two pics with comparison with pre-hair transplant condition. The cosmetic difference is not yet significant, hopefully it will in the next few months. Finally, the scar fades some more. Even my wife is having difficulty finding the scar in order to take these pictures. The area of shock loss on the right side of the scar is also decreasing in size. I notice that taking pictures with no flash shows a much more accurate description, although i need to take a few since the photos usually turn out to be blurry.
  24. Great post and great advice Thana! It should be archived on this Forum.
