  1. I did get a travel pillow and that is what I am continuing to use - went back to sleeping with multiple pillows and the travel pillow to reduce the pressure on the sutures. Maybe after they have been removed (it has been one week since my surgery - planning to remove it at the 2 week mark), it will be better?
  2. Hi all It has been about 7 days since my HT - how did folks manage sleeping with the sutures at this stage? I tried sleeping on my back on one or two normal pillows but it was still very uncomfortable with the sutures at the back - went back to my 4-5 pillows and sleeping at about 45 degrees... What are the typical recommendations?

  4. Thanks .. I am asking my docctor to do it. Any suggestions from folks on how to prepare for it? Is this painful ?:-)... Any way to reduce the discomfort? Thanks
  5. Hi all I just completed a HT with Dr. Rahal and will be getting the sutures removed after 14 days. I am wondering if any member on this forum has gotten this done from any doctor or clinic in the San Francisco Bay area - especially in the peninsula area. Thanks...

  7. Quick update - got done with this. Surgery went really well... managed to get a lot more grafts than planned. We were initially planning for 4000 grafts but were able to get 4865 grafts. I will update my blog with the exact number of hairs (9000+) and some pics of the post operation. Will update the blog regulary. Currently just bearing the swelling... :-(
  8. Thanks for all the advice. I am planning to start a blog on my progress so will record all updates with my pics. Hopefully I will be able to help folks the way others on this forum have helped me.
  9. Hi all I have been researching this for many months and decided to get the appointment a few weeks back and it is time finally. I will be going through the session on June 3rd. I am a Type 6 (I think) and Dr. Rahal (or rather Adrian) has estimated that they will be trying to transplant 4000 grafts - let us see how it goes. I am certainly nervous like hell - any advice from folks who have gone through this experience?

  11. hopeful: you mentioned a very important point: "I hope you are aware that procedures are not a peace of cake...there is a waiting period for your scalp to look normal again so be prepared for that also." Can you provide me any more details on what to expect? How long before the scalp looks "normal"? And what are some of the things I should expect to see after surgery? Thanks a lot for the advice - it certainly helps for me to be prepared and not get surprises... too many doctors I am talking to make it seem like a minor surgery (the dentist comparison is the most common one :-)). I want to ensure that I know what a patient really goes through with this surgery. Thanks!
  12. Are there any doctors doing FUE for more than 2500/3000 grafts? I know there is the very controversial Dr. Armani.. anyone else? Especially anyone that is considered less controversial and recommended by the forum members? Thanks!
  13. Thanks for all the responses guys!! Very helpful indeed. After reading all these and researching some more, I have narrowed it down to the following: 1. Hasson and Wong 2. Feller 3. Rahal 4. Cooley 5. Alexander I have sent online consultation requests to all of them so let us see what they say. Thanks again!
  14. So is cost the major inhibitor for going with FUE for large areas or is it just not best suited? Just trying to ensure that I do not get the second best only for cost reasons :-)
  15. What are the pros and cons? Specifically in my case (norwood 6 so need a large area to be covered) and average skin laxity?
