  1. Dewayne, You just solidified what I've suspected the last several months! A few people, and one in particular, asking me if I've lost weight and at the same time looking at me up and down. That was the second person at that point that made the comment. I've been the same exact weight for 8 years and this person has known me forever. I can say with certainty now after reading what you and others here have described that it's for sure the hairline that they can't quite put there finger on, and how it makes that big of a difference!!
  2. kguitary, You're going to need to put another photo or three to get a better view, hairline and back.
  3. kman, I don't tell anyone about my HT cuz your really dealing with people in general who for one, don't really care, and secondly, do not understand hair transplantation and therefore are leaving yourself open to unnecessary ridicule. If I really thought someone was in need and looking for some answers, the best thing any of us could do would be to direct them to HTN and the rest would pretty much be history.
  4. Abby, One thing I've read about using donor tissue from one person to another is that it can happen but the danger from the transplant drugs themselves far out weigh the benefits and therefore becomes an ethical issue.
  5. HT55, I agree 100%!! I believe a two or three prong attack using Nizoral may very well be of some benefit, and certainly is to your morale, plus you're moving in the right direction and doing something about your hair loss. I'm going to be starting the 2% soon.
  6. pittboss, It doesn't "happen" unless you choose one of the 5 top doctors on this site! I could have gone back to the same doctor over and over and over again, each time just getting a small increment of growth with the same promises and excuses. FUE is follicular unit extraction, which in essence is a procedure done hair by hair and is twice as costly. Stick with the strip method, and unless you don't mind waiting forever to see some real growth, go to one of the best, which you'll soon find out about. Good luck.
  7. newtoforum, Someone, I'm sure, will help you out better once they read this, and not too long ago I saw some photos of a guy on the forum whose facial transplant looked awesome! Maybe Bill can show you when he chimes in.
  8. ChargerFan8608, You don't need to feel bad at all about your previous HT. I had two HTs before finding this site, and by the way it was going I would have needed five more of those HTs to get the results I got the first time by going to Canada! It was fun and easy! The clinic I went to reimbursed me for part of my airfare and offered to put me up in a waterfront hotel for 2 nights. Don't let the distance fool you because I'm convinced there's no more work involved in flying to another country than there is in going somewhere 30 miles from your home. I ended up staying for two weeks in Vancouver instead and that was a good decision for myself. I was up and runing around Vancouver immediately after my surgery with my hat on, so you can go back to work almost right away if you can get away by wearing a hat. I had Tricophytic donor closure and ironically the top doctors charge less than some others, and you don't get some assoiate doctor doing your work who points the finger at the other one when things don't go right. The entire surgery including travel was considerably less than if I would have stayed in my area. But more importantly the final yield and results I received were what I always wanted!
  9. ziggysawdust, I wouldn't even want to be testing it out on me, even though Bill has the correct information. Try to ween yourself as soon as posible.
  10. HT55, Maybe the 2% Nizoral is worth giving a try after all. It would be nice to hear that it's not too expensive.
  11. Markymarc1981, I didn't know how much I saved taking Proscar vs. Propecia but you figured it out for us! I use Nizoral 1% vs. 2% because you don't need a script, and I read once that it didn't make any difference. Revita would be my first choice for shampoos because it has all the good ingredients, but until they atleast cut the price by 50%, which will still only bring it down to 14.00 per 6 ounces--I believe, I'm using Nizoral. You've had really good results using Proscar. I've had hair loss slowdown but nothing like yours.
  12. nm76, I have also thought about this, but really don't think that at some far off distance I could wind up becoming a n6 or n7. There's pretty good signs early on that you'll end up losing it all. I hope your taking your finesteride daily to slow your hair loss down, considering you can continue to stay on it with little or no side effects for about a year or so to really start seeing the results.
  13. NW5a, I know how you feel! You can comb your hair more than one way now!!
  14. There's a good chance that this girl doesn't know for sure how she may react to her boy friend losing his hair more. People often say one thing, and when you ask them later about it turns out they've done something entirely different. Let real love pop up and slap her in the face, and she might be writng "Dear Abby" back. BeHappy: You wrote the same thing I was thinking exactly when I read her story, that we like ourselves less when were going through hair loss and nobody complains. Thank god for hair transplantation today!!
  15. Asterisk, I agree it looks great!!!! You've got to be thrilled like I am just looking at it!!
  16. 16inchscar, Yes!!!!!!!!! How long ago was your last HT? Even if there was grafts waisted at your surgery, you should have more than enough to get a great result from a future HT.
  17. mikey11, It sounds like you had some growth so you're probably not one of the rare no-growth cases and could have also had a poor yield from your transplant. When a doctor looks at it again closely under magnification, he will tell you how many grafts you really received. 1000 grafts is pretty insignificant to begin with, unless you're just going back to do a minor touch up on a hairline or crown. If you post a picture, that would be helpful in seeing how many more grafts you could use.
  18. Man, Thanks, and will you share what you read and know.
  19. 16inchscar, Stick with one of the top 5 doctors on this site, like I did, and I guarantee you'll be LOL with joy!! I did and I'm LOL!! My result/density and coverage in my frontal-third are real!!
  20. Man, What and where did you read about SLS, and is it found in Nizoral?
  21. HoToStop, I feel certain that a regular doctor will give you a sript. Call ahead just to be sure. Good luck.
  22. La La Land Hair, If you really want an excellent result from your transplant, stick with the top 5!!!! The road has been paved already by other members having work done by them, and they are surprisingly more reasonable in price! The worst hair transplant doctors have the nicest offices and staff but don't even compare in skill to the top 5! A clinic I chose paid me to go there and the whole procedure ended up costing me less than staying in my area plus I got a vacation to boot.
  23. Donna, I have never once suspected and feel that almost no one will think if a woman is wearing a wig that they indeed have hair loss. Women have an advantage in that regard. It's more of thinking that she's just doing it for looking better and not for hair loss even vaguely. I personally have been told once or twice that someone I was with was wearing a wig and it was a total surprise to me. That isn't to say that it can't be a bit of a hassle, but other than that I think they look good.
  24. HoToStop, One more thing: Look into/compare the price of Propecia vs. Proscar. I switched to Proscar and I pay with S&H $80.00 for 30 tabs which I cut into fourths with a pill cutter. The last time before that when I ordered Propecia, I dropped like three or four hundred dollars. But look for yourself to be sure.
