1. stamos - nothing wrong with being a newbie. Even PGP was one once. But he knows his stuff, however he sometimes chooses to communicate it!
2. I would just like to say that, insults etc aside, I have found this to be a very informative and productive thread. It's taught me stuff I didn't know - and probably should have known - before my own decision to have an HT. A leading clinic is now being extra transparent and, while he can be a raging bull, we have PGP to thank for that as well as for bringing an issue of concern to wider attention. Just my two cents.
3. Thanks you two, I shall rush out and buy it because you're obviously not selling something. Next question: JAM or MARMALADE? I hope I have helped!
4. Weights aren't my thing but I do a lot of cardio-based circuit training. I picked it up about a week after the staples from my strip surgery went out, so about 18-19 days post-op. My doc told me most exercise is fine earlier on (after staple removal), but to avoid crunch-type exercises where you clasp the back of your head for a bit longer - about a month. But then if you clasp the back of your head, you're doing the crunches wrong! Definitely less wait with FUE, but check with your doc. Dr Lindsey posted a short snappy opinion on this thread: http://hair-restoration-info.c...?r=66010298#66010298
5. I just tried a number three clip and - oops - the bastard is visible again! Back to the nanogen fibres for a fortnight ....
6. Anytime - before of after. It's a dietary supplement, not a medicine. People often take it alongside glucosamine for joint health. I take both - along with Omega 3 cod liver oil. More info here: http://hair-restoration-info.c...711093122#1711093122 As to whether it helps with post-HT healing: the jury is out. But it's good for you and pretty cheap, so I'd take it anyway.
7. We all heal differently. canadian_buba and I experienced different levels of pinkness in the recipient area despite having a similar procedure. That is physiology dependent. I was therefore able to go out without a hat, but with concealer around the donor area, at 3 weeks. Bear in mind we were both shaved down in our recipient areas and that can add to the "appearance" of an HT. Bottom line - it could be anything from 10 days to 3 months. Btw, the fact I was lucky and had little pinkness does not mean I will have a better result than canadian_buba - his may be much better than mine. Again, it is all physiology dependent. Hopefully they will both be great! Eman's advice about doing it in fall/winter is sound - you have an excuse to be wearing a hat without getting too hot! So I would go after the wedding too.
8. I am seven weeks post op - three weeks behind Petchski! I still have very slight numbness in the donor and recipient areas, but it is definitely diminishing. Put it this way: it stopped feeling like I was touching someone else's head about 2-3 weeks ago. There is still some tightness in the donor area. If 0 is no tightness at all, and 10 is a Croydon facelift (check Wikipedia), I'm at a 2. I'm still getting slight scabbiness/ooziness in the donor area, but nothing problematic.
9. The answer depends on many factors: whether you are planning FUE or strip, how many grafts you might need, where they might be placed, whether your doctor favours shaving the recipient area, etc. There are many posts on the forum about the options. Telling people you're having an HT procedure definitely makes many things easier, but don't underestimate the consequences of being "HT guy". For my part, I went back at three weeks and posted my experience here: http://hair-restoration-info.c...=344104471#344104471 Good luck.
10. Wow - what a marathon session! Well done on 5,404 grafts, you must have had really good scalp laxity. Your blog pictures look really good with a nice new hairline. I hope you heal well and I look forward to following your progress.
11. I admit I have been luckier than some on that front. The speed of the recovery period all depends on physiology, which varies from person to person. People say that rogaine helps with regrowth although I've not used it myself. I used Vitamin E oil for a few weeks then stopped. Beyond that, I think it's just mother nature. If you post some pics then the veteran members of the community (i.e. people with more experience than me) might offer better informed opinions on the state of your donor area. Hold tight - it should all come good.
12. jonrctim I am three weeks ahead of you and it sounds like our procedures were very similar. My transplanted hairs looked exactly the same as yours as they shed - it's nothing to get worried about. Hairs from previous HTs can also be affected by shock loss. Heal well.
13. Great pics Tubs - and congratulations on your transformation. You must be thrilled. Best wishes.
14. Looking good djjr1 - it's all beginning to come through really nicely now - and there's still lots of growth to come yet! You must be very happy.
15. Hi Adam - are you ready to post your month three photos yet? I'm keen to see how you're getting on, given that you're just one month ahead of me!
16. I agree 100%. Gotta give it a go - you may look great.
17. dakota - what makes you think men are looking at their hair anyway?
