  1. Thanks all! Next update at 20 weeks I reckon ...
  2. I laughed! (My favourite Ron J term so far is "pelo-porn")
  3. OK, I am now at 15 weeks post-HT, and I have updated my blog again. Hopefully you will agree with me that I am beginning to get some early-stage growth. Apologies to Eman for plagiarising his "Yay! I have a hairline!" caption ...
  4. I started a similar thread here. Not sure if it adds much light though: http://hair-restoration-info.c...=133104361#133104361
  5. Well done DDD03 - I look forward to seeing your results! Good luck
  6. sunnyd Thanks for a great write-up. I had my HT done in February with Dr Feller and you've really caught the mood of the day - it felt like I was back there again. Re getting some of your money back ... of course, we have every right to expect to be treated ethically and honestly, but it's still nice to know it happens. For anyone else reading who has an upcoming HT with Dr Feller, especially those coming in from the UK, I would recommend public transport. The JFK Airport Airtrain and then the Long Island Rail Road out to Great Neck: it's quick, easy and cheap. Also, if you struggle to contact the clinic via email, you can always send Dr Feller a private message through this site. And of course there's always Spex. As DDD03 says, it would be good for others if you post pictures of your progress. Well done and thanks again.
  7. Adding a smiley face is no better than adding "lol" or "j/k" if the joke simply isn't funny.
  8. Wow, you are indeed an early grower. Looking good Clint69!
  9. Hello *sole_man*. I am from the UK too. Welcome to the forum. It is, as you say, both impartial and informative. Anyone paid to promote must declare it - most of us are just "paying it forward". Some pics would help members of the forum to comment more usefully. In the meantime, here are my tips: 1. You're young. It's hard I know, but keep up the meds. You can still maintain the illusion of density with half of your hair and that is usually all an HT can hope to achieve. 2. Consider buzzing down your hair. It might suit you. 3. Try hard to keep really trim, fit and healthy for at least a year - see how it impacts upon your self-esteem. 4. Research, research and research - work through this site, look at the results, check out the blogs. If meds only take you so far, if you think the buzz doesn't work, if your confidence can't improve from other efforts, then an HT might be the way forward. 5. Remember that everyone is different and the success of an HT depends upon an individual patient's physiology. 6. Don't let location be a barrier. Be prepared to travel far to see the right doc for you. 7. Avoid the hair mills at all costs. Go for a coalition doc. The only one in the UK is Farjo. You could consider Devroye in Belgium. Most of the top docs are in the US or Canada. There are some fabulous tips here: http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/505100191 Good luck mate.
  10. Good luck John. I have been particularly impressed by Dr Devroye's innovative write-ups on this site. I think he's a real rising star. I attended a consultation with a reputable European clinic. I asked the sales guy to tell me honestly, if money were absolutely no object, where he would go. He told me the US or Canada. All I'm saying is - don't rule out going over the pond.
  11. I have to say: that scar is looking terrific already. Looking at your scalp so soon out, it seems you are a rapid healer!
  12. I don't know the answer to that question stamos. I take the view that I should follow what it says on the bottle - if it works, great; if not, well it is a nice shampoo anyway! This is the official website for the product: http://www.divineskin.com/revita/default.asp Obviously it's a sales pitch but there's some quite interesting info there (if Bill is happy for the link to stay up). The ingredients are quite entertaining, including extracts from apple skins, caffeine and emu oil. You can just picture the boffins working on it: Junior boffin: Sir, the mixture just isn't working. We've tried banana skins and orange peel, but it's lacking that certain 'zing'! Senior boffin: Have you tried apples? They're in season at the moment. Junior boffin: Well, I could chuck one in the mix, just to see. *Junior boffin throws in apple* Junior boffin: It's gone green! Senior boffin: Oh shit, that won't sell, it looks like snot. Quick, chuck the copper peptides in. *Bubbling mixture turns orange* Senior boffin: That's better. Now, let me just get that bottle of soap [*accidentally knocks in his coffee*] Darn it, now it's got bloody caffeine in it! Junior boffin: Shall I tip my cup of Rooibos tea in as well? Senior boffin: Hell yeah, why not. But we really need something else ... something no-one else in the world would think of, something completely left field ... Junior boffin: Here's a thought ... now don't shoot it straight down, just hear me out ... how about the oozing fat from an emu's arse? Senior boffin: Perfect. No one else would think of that. Can you get some? Junior boffin: Sure. My house mate is a zooerast. He picked some up on his last trip to the safari park. I can be back in five minutes. *He returns shortly with a small phial of congealed fat and chucks it in the pot. They both stir it up and it becomes slightly flourescent. Junior boffin tries it out on his hair, which immediately stands on end* Both: Eureka! Quick, bottle it up!! *They exit to the sound of cash registers ringing*
  13. The docs' answers show why you need your doc's advice! Up to 10,000 FUs might have been optimistic, but it remains the case that your chosen doc should take note of your physiology and recommend a sensible approach for dealing with potential future loss.
  14. I started using it about two months post-HT after reading positive reviews of it by trusted posters on this forum. Before that I had used Nizoral but had become wary of using it too regularly (Spex posted about this) and wanted something I could use every day or so. I can't say for sure whether Revita has made any difference (it has supposed DHT blockers among other things, but I doubt they can have much of an effect), but I agree it is a very very nice shampoo. At the risk of sounding like a cheesy ad, it does make my hair feel great. On the negative side, it's almost ??20 a bottle (although you don't need to use much of it) and IMO it has a terribly designed dispenser which has a really weak clicking mechanism. If it gets knocked over in the shower and isn't put back properly, it leaks everywhere; because of its shape, it can only be placed on the flat end which is the same end as the dispenser. (That probably makes no sense until you have seen the bottle yourself.) Given that the bottle looks space age and comes in top notch stylish packaging, you'd think DS Laboratories would try to get the simple things right! On balance, I have taken the view that it really can't hurt to use it! No substitute for a good HT though! Hope that helps.
  15. I see no reason why not. I'm nearly four months post-HT and I've been using Revita for about two months now.
  16. Hi Space First and foremost - if you have chosen a top doc you should go with his advice. The doc will make a recommendation that involves a sensible plan for dealing with future hair loss. Given that approx 10,000 FUs can be harvested overall across several procedures (although it differs from person to person), 3,000 in the frontal third should leave plenty in the tank to deal with further hair loss progression behind the front and towards the crown. Personally I would be hesitant to go much over 3,500 in the frontal third. Much better to have a mature hairline IMO. I've always been worried when I see dense packing in the hairline, particularly for youngsters. So, yes, I agree with you completely. Also, while I appreciate the short-term cosmetic attraction of leaving a tuft up front, you need to plan for the long-term. How robust is it? My doc did my whole front third, rather than transplanting around the tuft. It will hopefully thicken up in due course. As you can see in my blog, I went for the all-over buzz and it was fine to go back to work within 20 days or so. Again, go with the advice of whichever doc you've chosen - I know you've done your research, so it will be a top doc I'm sure. Good luck.
  17. Lastchance - thanks for the great write-up and well done on choosing a top doc. I look forward to seeing your results come to fruition. Best wishes Acrobaz
  18. Ceasar08 - I've not seen you write about this before. It's a very helpful and interesting perspective. Can I ask you: - how long had you been taking fin before noticing the sides? - how long after ceasing fin did the sides disappear (if indeed they have all disappeared)? Many thanks Acrobaz
  19. I noticed today that Bill is about to reach 12,000 posts. As he reaches this milestone, let's just pause for a moment to thank him for all he gives to this online community and his excellent moderation skills. Most of the time it is a thankless task. I'd ask him to indulge us and keep this thread here where it will be seen and read, not buried in the off-topic section. So .... congratulations and thanks Bill! Your words of advice, public and private, to me and many others, have led us to make far more informed decisions than would ever have been the case otherwise.

  21. I asked a related question some time ago. Here is the thread: http://hair-restoration-info.c...=415107991#415107991 Doesn't really answer your question, but I think it's ok so as long as not chock full of other chemicals. Personally, I now use Revita. If in doubt, check with your doc. I particularly liked the money-saving tip from HairHope!
