  1. And that's the reason for some seemingly odd questions. Its to find out if you are mentally ready for a hair transplant. Some people aren't mentally ready even though they may be great candidates as far as hair available.
  2. I'm putting a picture here to show what I mean. If you can thicken this area up a bit with meds you may not feel like you need a hair transplant, depending on your goals.
  3. You're not going to create an entirely new hairline with meds, but it looks like you may be thinning throughout the entire front third, so meds may thicken that up. If you can strengthen and thicken the hair shafts along the current front hairline, you may get a noticeable improvement and look like your hairline was lowered slightly.
  4. Do you have any pictures of your current hair situation? You may still be a candidate for hair transplants even if you can't use meds. If you have a lot of body hair you can try using some of that mixed in with scalp donor. If you are prone to eventual donor thinning, the body hair grafts should last much longer than scalp grafts , so that is something you can try doing if you went with a hair transplant. Beard hair is in a much safer zone that the back and sides of the head. Even if you lose a lot more hair, the beard grafts should have a much better chance at continued growth.
  5. Wow Davy. This turned out so perfect. Back in the beginning I was worried that you’d have a lot of scarring because you were removing an entire pluggy hairline, not just a few grafts in the corners. It needed to be done for sure, but I thought there would be visible scars. If I was just looking at the end result now without ever seeing the before pics I would never think you had any work done.
  6. This is an interesting question because I think some Drs are feeling more pressured to perform surgeries on younger men these days than in the past. If you turn then down then they go to a cheap place and get botched, so you almost want to say yes just to try to save them from something worse.
  7. As others have said, I think it looks good for only 2500 grafts on that large area.
  8. I removed all of the recent posts arguing back and forth. I am not going to allow that here. However I am going to reply to a couple of items as I think it directly pertains to this thread. First you say you did some research and claim the Colorado clinic has nothing to do with the Las Vegas clinic. Then you claim to actually work at the Las Vegas clinic. The web site clearly lists both locations ( I checked the website myself to be sure), so to say you had to do research to know that is totally ridiculous. To also claim that you are not affiliated when your own web site shows you are is again ridiculous. I'm pointing this out so anyone who happens to read this doing any research on these clinics can see the blatant lies being done by them. To claim it's unjustified slander, well just take a look at the OPs surgery pictures. Everyone can decide for themselves whether it's justified or whether it's slander. I don't want to see any more of this nonsense here. I dealt with this kind of thing myself years ago when the company I went to kept changing names and claiming they weren't connected with their previous company.
  9. That bald patch in the donor looks like shock loss. I tried to compare it to some of your previous pictures right after surgery and that area seems to be fine in the earlier pics. If the patch is just developing recently then it's shock loss and will grow back.
  10. Sometimes transplanted hair will grow in very curly, wiry, kinky, rough, etc. That usually slowly gets back to normal by around 18 months. You should hopefully start seeing some improvement of that soon. You may also have badly angled grafts which could make it look worse. In that situation the hair grows in a different direction than your native hair. Bad angles won’t improve, but the roughness, wiryness should. You can see what Farjo thinks of your situation but I suggest you don’t actually do anything until at least past the 1 year mark to really know what you’re dealing with.
  11. Well if your wife likes it and gets excited and turned on seeing you look like you did years ago then I'd say it was money well spent 😄
  12. I don't think it's fair to say Dr Yaman's work here is a botch job. All the hair grew in. The angles are all correct. There are no sections without hair. The hair is all evenly spaced out. It looks like decent work. The only thing I'd say is the donor could have been handled a bit better, but even that is not so bad. Now certainly anyone can have a preference for one Dr over another. That's fair. No two are going to be totally equal. In fact even the same Dr won't always have same result. I'll agree that Dr Michalis's extractions here look cleaner than Dr Yaman's, but that doesn't make Dr Yamans suddenly become a botch job. As far as the pimples and cobblestoning I think much of that had to do with shaving/buzzing the hair down constantly while it was healing. Several people even mentioned that. I experienced that myself when using beard hair. If I shaved every day the area would get very irritated, but if I left it alone and let my bead grow, it would all clear up in a few days... until I started shaving it daily again. Over time it gets back to normal and I can shave every day without any issues, but it does take some time to get to that point. Anyway what I'm saying is I don't think you can really blame that on Dr Yaman either. Also you are comparing a one year result with a one week result. Let''s see how it all turns out before saying which one was better. Now with that said, I do like what I see here from Dr Michalis, so I'll be watching the updates here and of course I hope it tuns out great.
  13. I was going to agree with the others and say you got poor growth, but then I saw the immediate post op pictures that you just posted and I see you had some grafts placed into the crown and also some into the temple points. So if the 3200 grafts includes everything then it's not quite as bad as I originally thought. I still think it should be better and you have somewhat low growth, but I wouldn't call it a failure. It's a little hard to tell with these pictures. You will need another transplant to improve the density. I probably wouldn't go back to the same Dr as I do think the growth probably should have been better. Will it improve from here after 10 months? Maybe slightly, but I wouldn't expect any major improvements past this point. By the way, welcome to the forums. I do appreciate you posting your pictures.
  14. Your donor looks pretty good for only 6 weeks post op.
  15. Hello @Hairrevival101 Welcome to the forums. Thank you for taking the time to write and post your pictures. Everything seems good so far. Can I ask you a few questions? You have a small bald spot in the crown. Are you hoping finasteride improves that area? How long have you be on finasteride? Thanks.
  16. It sounds like some people are confused about the 3 strips. I don't have any direct knowledge of the surgery, but here is what it sounds like happened. Dr Bloxham didn't get enough grafts from the original strip he created. Either the density wasn't as high as he thought (density can vary a lot. It's not the same all over) or he may not have been able to cut the strip as wide as he wanted due to low laxity/scalp tightness. It could have been some of both. I any event, what happened was he didn't get as many grafts as he needed, so he went back and extended the strip on both sides. See the picture below to understand. The green line is the first, original strip taken. To get more grafts, he extended both ends further towards the front. The red lines are the 2 additional strips taken which simply made the original strip longer. So there is only 1 FUT strip, but taken out in 3 sections.
  17. I would say mild sexual side effects. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't deal with it, but if it's not going to keep my hair then I may as well get my libido back. If my hair had not started falling out again I would have stayed on it. EDIT: I almost forgot. I should point out the biggest reason I stopped using finasteride. Since it wasn't keeping the hair on my head I knew I was eventually going to use beard and chest grafts as they were just becoming a thing then, but the finasteride was thinning out my body hair, so that was a big incentive to stop. Also, just for reference, I was taking 1.25mg about every other day.
  18. I was on it for roughly 11 years from 1998 to 2009. I think it helped a bit the first few years but after that I was definitely losing hair, so I decided there was no point to continue on it. I felt why should I suffer the side effects and unknown long term issues if it’s not solving the problem. If it was working I would have stayed on it. I think my hair loss is just too aggressive for it.
  19. The buzz cut looks pretty good. If you don't get enough density once you grow it out then at least you know you can go back to a decent buzz cut. So right now you are in a very good spot.
  20. Not too long ago it was common for Drs to offer free consultations. But back then you would go for a consultation, decide on a hairline, find out how many grafts you'd need if you are actually a good candidate, what the cost would be, and usually then setting up a date for the surgery. These days everyone seems to go to 5 or 10 consultations, so the Drs are spending a lot more time on consultations without getting the actual surgeries set up, so they had to start charging for the consultations. They can't spend half of their week doing consultations for free. I think most of them will deduct the cost of the consultation from the surgery, if you decide to choose them, which I think is very fair since you then did get a free consultation with them if you have the surgery with them.
