  1. Many of the transplanted hair follicles go dormant post-op and will rest for several months…after 3-4 months, the new growth phase emerges into new hair above the scalp line.
  2. Thank you my friend, listen, after I took the liberty of enlarging your pic of the primary donor zone, it appears that many of your hair shafts have varying degrees of decreased hair shaft diameter (caliber), which appears to have hair that is DHT receptive…and if some of the loss of density is related to shock loss, that should grow back…best wishes to you.
  3. Just from these photos it’s clearly evident IMHO that you have diffusion throughout your donor zone.
  4. You can get evaluated for both approaches.
  5. SMP works best in areas of thinning hair, not areas barren of hair.
  6. Look online for some cosmetic products such as Luminess that are applied with a spray applicator… the best ones allow you to mix/match your skin tone and the tiny applicator allows you to control exactly where you want it applied…IMHO, this is the best way to hide post-op redness without detection.
  7. As SA mentioned, on average grafts shed from 2-4 weeks post-op but some can take longer…we do know however that hair follicles behave in a cyclical manner moving between 3 phases of: growth, shed, rest…when the grafts shed, many of them enter the resting phase for several months before they move into a new growth phase…this typically takes 3-4 months for the new growth to emerge above the scalp line.
  8. Rc14…by now you undoubtedly are aware that the practice is now known as “The Hairloss Doctors” and yes they have relocated…also glad you are impressed with Dr. Dorin’s work…I especially like his hairline designs and his skill with FUE…best wishes!
  9. I truly understand how you feel and I think most individuals would agree…the standby situation will not work out for most people but it’s nice to know its available for those who can do it.
  10. If your schedule allows, it’s always a good idea to get on a standby list regardless of who the surgeon is because all clinics have cancellations from time to time.
  11. The regrowth is intermittent and why it takes 12-15 months to fairly judge a procedure.
  12. It sounds like you have a diffused thinning pattern and yes some post-op shock loss…and yes a procedure in a diffused area can advance the loss of the existing native hair…I would also like to see some pics.
  13. Please allow me to clarify something here…it’s not that I think Bisanga is not a good surgeon, I just think there are better ones that produce consistently great artistic results like DeFreitas, Mwamba, and the like who perform FUE and repair cases. Both Dr. Mwamba and Dr. Bisanga did extensive work on my 3rd procedure and after the procedure fully matured, I saw a significant artistic visual difference with Dr. Mwamba’s work regarding graft selection, angulation and placement in my frontal third (especially my hairline) and I attribute this to Dr. Mwamba’s endless attention to detail and how he continually checked everything he did…he is very patient and meticulous with every graft and I just knew he genuinely cared about the overall end result and my satisfaction.
  14. IIMHO, Dr. Freitas is worth the $ and wait because in the end results are what count and you never hear a ecstatic patient complain about the price or the wait…I’m just sayin’…
  15. Everyone loses or sheds a few grafts post-op so none of this is a problem.
  16. Based on the photos I see your ultimate class 7 so my question is how much available/usable donor do you have left including beard, chest?
  17. Once again Gats is spot on, weed or tobacco constricts the blood vessels and arteries and on average it takes approximately 2 weeks or so for things to normalize.
  18. Many good points made here and I totally agree that dark hair with a light scalp color contrast is a significant hindrance because of the high level of light that reflects off the scalp…henceforth any mis-angulation of the grafts will stick out like a sore thumb or any grafts that are a mis-match regarding hair shaft compatibility will also be visually noticeable especially when there is neighboring native hair that has already diffused in the recipient area…can be potentially very problematic especially in rebuilding a hairline.
