  1. Although not typical at this point in time post-op, it can happen and it’s more of sympathetic shed, nothing to be alarmed about.
  2. I agree…the FUE surgeon can cherry pick softer texture or finer caliber grafts especially when establishing a new hairline.
  3. As HappyMan pointed out, it’s not unusual for there to be small areas that are barren of hair…even if it is a scar, the area is pink and a good sign of blood flow so I think a very small amount of FUE grafts would grow…your surgeon could harvest a small number of beard grafts from areas on your face that are much denser for donor.
  4. They must have someone who monitors that app every day.
  5. I agree and IMHO, there are so many more FUE surgeons worldwide doing top notch work to consider that it’s getting more difficult to choose from!
  6. No, shaving down to your bare scalp will not destroy hair follicles…it’s DHT that destroys hair follicles…but this is a degenerative process that takes place over a long period of time…each time a follicle fulfills a complete growth cycle consisting of grow, shed, and rest, DHT miniaturizes those receptive follicles until they are very small and eventually shut down any hair growth…Can DHT eventually destroy receptive follicles?…yes, but again this takes longer periods of time and why MPB is classified as a lifetime genetic progression. This is why certain hairloss medications such as low dose finasteride are so crucial to preventing further genetic hair loss because finasteride and dutasteride (DUT) have been clinically proven to effectively inhibit DHT.
  7. Good for you…now, your recipient area has a clean crust free environment for the regrowth of your grafts!
  8. A very simple way to evaluate diffusing hair is to take some samples of the diffused hair and some samples of hair from the donor zone and lay them down on a sheet of white paper such as printer paper… then use a magnifying glass and compare the differences in hair shaft diameter (caliber)…it will be easier to visually see the differentials of the hair shafts from each other when they are laid side by side on white paper.
  9. What you are seeing are crusts which are the tips of the grafts above the scalp line that have dried out…simply follow the post-op instructions regarding the removal of these crusts. Crusts and scabs are two different things…crusts are dried out tissue and scabs are dried out blood.
  10. How old are you?…yes, your hair will grow back…will it be exactly as it was before you shaved it all off?…there is no way of knowing until you allow it to grow back…unless you start using effective hair loss meds, your hair loss will continue to progress. Please share some photos of your scalp before you shaved it and after.
  11. Will look forward to your progress especially using your beard donor.
  12. Here’s the thing…you need a comprehensive microscopic examination of your entire scalp, especially your donor…then and only then can any determination be made regarding the suitability or candidacy of a procedure.
  13. I have always been a proponent of every patient completing a comprehensive medical history (including a list of all medications and supplements) “at the time of the consultation” before any decisions can be made regarding surgery.
  14. In this current day, considering countless clinical advancements especially over the past decade, there really is no justification IMHO for grafts to be “out of body” for 8-10 hours.
  15. Well said Gats, and the same was also true for me on all 4 of my FUHT procedures…I have never buzzed my hair or kept a short hair length so always having 4 inches or longer provided enough coverage in the donor and recipient zones.
  16. Actually, many patients begin to shed their grafts at 3 weeks post-op…perfectly normal.
  17. There are no clinical trials or proven studies that support any meaningful benefit from PRP treatments pre-op and IMHO, it’s a waste of money…generally speaking, I am not a proponent of using PRP in conjunction with hair transplant procedures.
  18. ZC…I see the area behind your hairline that is thin however it should be easy for a proven talented surgeon to resolve for you…you mentioned that your donor supply is depleted so what about using some beard donor for the crown?…do you have some beard donor that can be used?…will look forward to your progress in your upcoming procedure my friend.
  19. Give it more time..the redness should start to dissipate and should it continue to linger, there are steroid based creams that can potentially help.
  20. The hair follicles that have shed those tiny hair have moved into the dormant phase.
  21. IMHO, warm showers are beneficial for the scalp as well as the grafts 30 days or more post-op…the warm temps stimulate the blood flow.
  22. The absorption of ink into scar matter can be much different than flesh tissue and the composite of scars also varies during the healing process so IMHO, it’s very important to allow adequate time for the ink to enter a stable base.
  23. Back in the mid to late 90’s, there basically were no websites providing education on surgical hair restoration…instead, there were several large national hair mills such as Bosley, Medical Hair Restoration (MHR), etc. that were running very aggressive informercials, “In my personal and professional opinion,” SLY was referred to MHR where he met Dr. Matt Levitt.
