  1. My scar isn’t wide and I did dumbbell presses starting 6 weeks after the op. How much of that is to Bloxhams credit, I can’t say. It could just be my physiology. Same for your friends. As for OPs concern, he should definitely go the FUT route if he’s really that concerned about that much loss. I think either of these choices plus Hattingen would be good.
  2. Whomever prescribed you 5 mg to start is a moron. I just started on .625 mg a day and will be moved up to 1.25 mg a day in a few months if I respond well. 5 mg is easily 4 times what you need. And probably .625 is enough to get benefits with very low side effect risk.
  3. So what was Feller's reason for being against large sessions of FUE? Is he bad too? And aren't they both fundamentally correct that you allow yourself the most lifetime grafts by starting with strip?
  4. You're probably not crazy to want to do FUT for the reasons you stated and I think both options are good. I'm a bit short of the 5.5 month mark after a Bloxham surgery and things are really growing in well. I'm sure Wong would be a good choice too, though.
  5. It looks solid to me. Maybe not the densest transplant ever, but I'd imagine this will look good. You'll look like DiCaprio come next spring OP.
  6. This looks quite good and I'd be surprised if you felt the need to go back again - not including years later if loss progresses, of course. At some point in the process you may get the idea in the back of your mind that you might wish to go back for more grafts only to realize a few weeks later you won't need to As of about 2-3 weeks ago I was thinking I might want to go back and get more grafts put in, but now at just shy of 5.5 months I'm very confident I won't need to.
  7. It looks fine for 3 months, like the above poster said. Barring infections or horrible folliculitis, it's hard to really make a judgement at 3 months in. Growth is starting, so you can't ask for anything else.
  8. I'm not interested in all his meaningless credentials that pop up when I search his name, nor should you be. What matters are impressive, transparent before/after results. I haven't found any videos of his that shows clearly how his results pass muster under difficult conditions or comb-throughs. I'd pass.
  9. If we're talking about transplanting to the hairline region of a virgin scalp, it does seem that 6 months is 85%+ of the final result. Perhaps some of the change in hair caliber may be perceptible in person if one looks very closely, but it doesn't seem to show up all that much in photos. Sure, added length to make the hair able to be styled and also uniformity of length with the rest of the scalp both make a noticeable difference, but as far as purely hair caliber improvement, it really does seem to be fairly marginal in most cases. The lighting and wet/not wet of the case posted in here makes it impossible to know exactly how much improvement occurred from 6 months onward.
  10. Safe to say more than just several men have had children while on finasteride, isn't it? And even though it can cause ED, it doesn't make people sterile as far as I'm aware. OP, you should try topical fin. Also, if possible, this topic should get stickied in such a way that people can't ask this question over and over again. It seems non-stop.
  11. Try using topical fin and remaining calm. If applying minoxidil is causing you to have major panic attacks, I think hair loss is the least of your problems. Consider seeing a psychiatrist. Seriously, I'm not saying this to be a jerk, but panic attacks over minoxidil use makes it seem like you genuinely may have an issue. That level of anxiety is not conducive to undergoing a hair transplant - which involves many months of waiting to see a result that is permanent and which you spent thousands of dollars on and months recovering from.
  12. That's a very good range. Mine is around 7.5 or just a smidge less and looks quite good IMO. You'll use too many grafts getting down to that mole and you'll risk having to go back again to ensure the density is spot on in case it isn't the first time. As far as whether it'll improve or not, only time will tell. I'm about 3 weeks shy of 6 months and it definitely seems as if more thickness is to come. If the hair still looks (and this is probably easier to tell in person) to be a bit thinner than the rest of your hair, then it'll probably improve. Honestly, the whole timeline is frustrating because it seems to vary so much and I think the "average" timeline is structured for patients that genuinely grow slowly so they don't freak out. I think most people are 80-90% of the way done at 6 months.
  13. Looks very good. I think the darkness/redness will linger similarly on me as it has on you, but you're even fairer. It's good to see how that looks. In normal lighting, it's irrelevant. The shape of this is great and it looks very natural.
  14. Like @Fue3361 said, it’s going to be noticeable for 5+ months minimum pretty much. So wearing a bandana for that long might not make sense or be desirable. Best to wear a hat if possible. I’m not suggesting you tell people, but at least make your lie easy on yourself.
  15. Pictures would help. Pretty much everyone here will tell you not to limit your choices by geography. And do you really want to spend tens of thousands of dollars and years recovering just to (in all likelihood) look like you're a man who's significantly on the way to balding even after all that? Why not get a very realistic hairpiece? That has to be easier.
  16. I don't think him being a dermatologist is a problem. I think it'd look better if you grew it out to medium length, but I would say this is definitely an improvement. Hopefully it keeps thickening. If you get another procedure done, I'd be wary of lowering, but increasing the density in the already created hairline would be fine. What's the distance between the lowest point of your hairline in the center and the glabella?
  17. What's the hairline look with the hair not combed down and covering the hairline, though? I'm not trashing it, I just honestly couldn't make a fair assessment based on these pics. I'm glad you're satisfied.
  18. I highly doubt any of the highly obsessive young (and older) men on here are qualified to answer your question. Your issue doesn't appear bad, though. It looks maybe fractionally worse than the rest of your part-line. I highly doubt it's Vitamin D related, but have you considered taking a vitamin d supplement.
  19. Other than how fast your loss is progressing, family is the only conceivable predictor. That doesn't mean it's fool proof, though.
  20. Show them some sort of design that you imagine for yourself and ask roughly how many grafts that should be. Ask how densely they will be able to pack the area or how densely they tend to pack hairlines as far as follicular units per square centimeter are concerned.
  21. Cut your fin dosage in half, use ED meds, and bump up your vitamin D intake. That should help. Or just switch to topical fin. Yes, they have helped some in my experience. It's hit or miss for me. Sometimes it hasn't helped at all, other times it's made it seem like I never had the sides from fin in the first place.
  22. @Coverdale ghosted pretty early on in the process so we have no clue how it went. As for the results he showed, those couple of guys have been featured on his site for over half a decade without really any new ones being introduced. And even with them we don't see graft placement or comb throughs or videos. I do think he's knowledgeable and I do think he's competent - he's not going to botch you or get you poor growth I'd imagine - but in terms of giving yourself a good chance to get substantial improvement, there are others I'd choose ahead of hm. Rahal, H&W, Konior, Nadimi, and Bloxham in North America for starters and then a good handful of guys in Europe as well.
  23. Doesn't look bad. Looks like a decent number of grafts for the area and the design looks fine to me.
  24. Couldn't you somewhat negate the impact of the oral minoxidil sides by using something like a collagen powder? And wouldn't it only have a negative impact on one's face if they used it on, say, their beard? It makes zero sense that applying minoxidil to the scalp would age the face. None.
