  1. The truth is that in the propecia trials, hair counts rose for the first year, were maintained for year 2, then fell after that. At year 5, the hair count was only slightly above baseline. There is a 10 year study which shows finasteride is still effective with 86% not experiencing worsening of hair loss , however it is most effective for patients over the age of 30 (probably due to hair loss having started later). But effectiveness after 10 years doesn't mean effectiveness at 20 years etc. The general consensus is that propecia will not prevent further hair loss forever. It will most likely just slow it down. This is why it is so important to plan a strategy for the future when undergoing a hair transplant, even when you are on Meds.
  2. Hi, Dr erdogan is a good surgeon, however you must have a long term plan if you want to maintain a good result for the future. You are destined to be a Norwood 6, by your genetics. If you get an aggressive procedure of 5k grafts and don't take finasteride, the sides may drop in the next 2-3 years and you may not have sufficient donor to maintain a normal appearance. Yes you can shave it off, but you will still have a shadow in an unnatural pattern. Plus FUE leaves dotted scarring. This is a long term thing. Think it through properly and spend 6 months researching (at least). I think you absolutely must be on finasteride if you are going to have a hair transplant, and any ethical surgeon will tell you the same. Good luck
  3. Hey man, they don't sell biotin more than 1000mcg here in the UK. The reality is that there isn't any evidence that biotin is effective for hair loss. It may help your hair to thicken IF you have a deficiency, but the reality is most people obtain enough through their diet and biotin deficiency is rare.
  4. To be honest it probably isn't worth taking more than 1000mcg of biotin a day, as more than that can lead to side effects like acne. Usually you can't buy more than 1000mcg capsules in shops which is for a reason. You can obtain higher strengths online though. The reality is that Biotin won't really make any difference to your hair. As long as you get enough, your best bet is propecia

  6. Hey mate, I'm from the UK as well. You need to spend at least 6 months researching before you decide to have a hair transplant. If you can't afford and respected surgeon and aren't willing to travel abroad to visit a better prices one then you shouldn't have a hair transplant just now. This is NOT a trip to the dentist. It is MAJOR surgery and one that will affect the rest of your life. All surgeons are not equal and that's why there are so many repair cases. Do you research and save up and they make an informed choice. Also, are you taking propecia? It's a must really as you will likely continue to lose hair. Good luck
  7. It's Dr Jose Lorenzo. He used to be recommended here while he was working in the UK for a year, but opted not to continue his membership when he went back to Spain as he has more than enough patients over there. He is considered world no1 for FUE. Contact them through their website.
  8. What I think you are referring to are the scabs. This is normal. You might want to check with your clinic but I'm sure it's fine.
  9. Hi wibbles, you have narrowed your choices down to some excellent surgeons. However, I feel that 4000 grafts is excessive for your level of loss. Dr Erdogan, whilst his results are excellent, is quite aggressive. You may only have 7000 grafts donor capacity, does it make sense to use up 4k grafts with you level of hair loss? Probably not. I agree that lorenzo's hairlines are more conservative, but you can of course come to a compromise, and the Dr only has your long term interests in mind. You must also bear in mind that technicians do all of the work at Erdogans clinic, which could be significant. In addition, such a large FUE procedure could affect the overall yield of the result. It would perhaps be with doing 3k followed by 1k a year later. This would allow you to touch up any areas that need a bit more density. I am actually considering a procedure with erdogan or Lorenzo myself and this is my rationale at the moment. I hope it helps.
  10. WOW! Lorenzo really is world class. He has turned your situation around completely! Be happy man and enjoy your hair! You deserve it after all you have endured over the years! Congrats
  11. Where is he going to put 3000grafts? You have an excellent head of hair now so you may want to consider keeping some in reserve for the future.
  12. 15k euros is exactly correct: 6 euros per graft for first 1000 grafts = 6000 euros 4 euros per graft for second 1000 grafts = 4000 euros 2.5 euros per graft for remaining 2000 grafts = 5000 euros Total = 15000 euros Also, If you go back in the future for another procedure, you will only pay 2.5 euros per graft.
  13. Considering from where you started, you have excellent coverage for only 3000 grafts. You must be ecstatic! Do you plan on having a second session to add some density to the crown?
  14. Hi, it is possible that propecia is the cause. Itching etc is listed as a side effect. I would suggest you stop taking it for a few days or a week and see if it improves. Alternatively, have you tried taking an antihistamine?? It could be you are allergic to the drug or another component within the tablet formulation. You could therefore try switching to another brand.
  15. I have to agree feriduni does some killer hairlines! Hope it all goes well mate and keep us updated.
  16. Given your age and that you are on propecia, you shouldn't experience too much further hair loss. I would suggest you consult with them all online and tell them what you want. Listen to what they say and their graft estimates. FYI Lorenzo does do temple points when needed: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/173757-6453-fu%92s-dr-lorenzo-injertocapilar-com.html Hope this helps.
  17. Hi, you have narrowed it down to some great docs there. Tbh it comes down to who's work you prefer. Dr reddy is good but most of his hairline exapmples are 800 grafts and I feel density is an issue. Also, he doesn't go anywhere near native hair which means there's a slight gap and if you lose more it will be obvious. Lorenzo is clearly excellent at FUE. As you mentioned though, his hairlines are very mature and receded. Feriduni is the most aggressive, but be aware that you need to plan for the future as you will likely lose more hair. How old are you and what NW level are you??
  18. Hi, because Seb derm comes and goes its very difficult to attribute it to something like a supplement. I have had Seb derm on my scalp for 11 years and it is a real pain. I have heard Biotin can help but have never personally tried it. Over the years I have tried many shampoos but nothing really helps. Rotating shampoos every Few months can help a bit. More recently I have had some success with applying braggs Apple cider vinegar to my scalp in a 1:1 dilution with water, leaving it on for 15 mins then washing out.
  19. Hi, from reading your other posts, you have seborrheic dermatitis. There is no cure for it. It can be controlled, but it will flare up from time to time. Your best bet is to use an anti fungal shampoo regularly, and a steroid lotion when needed for flare ups. No supplement will help. I hope this helps
  20. Good result but WAY too many grafts. This guy is going to lose more hair, even if he's on Meds. The before pics are WET which highlights the thin areas. He could have had an excellent result with 3000 grafts to the front third and Meds for the crown. It's VERY unwise to transplant into the crown of a young patient, because when hair loss progresses he will be left with a halo of hair on the top.
  21. Just saw this post. Interestingly I have been using braggs apple cider vinegar on my scalp for the last few days as I have sebborheic dermatitis and it's been excellent so far! Have been diluting it 1:1 with water and applying for 15mins before washing out. Hoping to only do it twice a week from next week.
  22. To be honest mate, I would ditch the nizoral. It causes itchiness and irritation and a lot of shedding. Everyone is different so try it sparingly if u want. Biotin MAY improve your hair quality slightly. It will do nothing for hair loss. If you really want to keep your hair, try Minoxidil or finasteride.
  23. I agree that Lorenzo's hairlines are very conservative. I think sometimes this is called for, but other times more of a compromise can be made. The hairline is the most important part as it frames the face, so it's important not to be ultra conservative in that respect. I think a balance should be struck, but then because of the higher hairlines he can achieve better coverage.
  24. hi, I've never heard of him. i would suggest sticking with a recommended Dr from this site and make sure they are a member of the IAHRS. Anyone else is a huge risk. Do your research. This is not a visit to the dentist.
  25. To be honest BUSA, I am stating what I have seen. I have provided evidence to other posts. You clearly have some kind of agenda with the Turkish docs, as other forum members have already pointed out. We have you figured out!
