Dr Lorenzo or Dr Bisanga?
splitting hairs replied to roamingdiver's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Hi, They are both Top choices. If you are a NW5 then I would probably go with Lorenzo. He is the man for high norwoods if you want FUE. Just a quick question, you mentioned you've been on propecia for years. How long have you been on Propecia? And did you continue to lose hair over time? The reason I ask is I've been on propecia for 6 and a half years and just wonder how long it will work for. -
Dr Doganay 2050 grafts (3500 strands of hair)
splitting hairs replied to William1's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Swooping, There is obviously something that needs to be improved. Most top FUE docs prefer manual Punches as they say they can 'feel' the graft during the extraction and there's less chance of transection. FUE sessions over 3k are never a good idea as its a huge amount of trauma which can affect growth. It's also commonplace in Turkey to let the techs do all the work for FUE procedures. It also happens at Rahal I believe, Koray erdogan, feriduni. I believe Dr Hakan has some good results from the past but consistency is important. I get the feeling that some docs, because FUE is very labour intensive, are up scaling their clinics by getting techs to do procedures, allowing them to do 4 procedures a day. At the end of the day, none of this would matter if the results were consistent. -
Dr Doganay 2050 grafts (3500 strands of hair)
splitting hairs replied to William1's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
There have been A LOT of doganay threads about poor results. He uses a motorised punch, does up to 5k grafts in one day and the techs do all the work. I personally think it's time to review his recommendation here. Here are a few of the threads about poor results: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/174171-4025-grafts-fue-dr-hakan-doganay-july-2013-a.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/174668-what-point-do-you-call-failure.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/174976-1308-grafts-dr-hakan-doganay.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/177789-dr-doganay-2050-grafts-3500-strands-hair.html http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/173749-4-500-fue-dr-hakan-doganay-07th-march-2014-a.html -
My HT with Dr Lorenzo on Oct 2014
splitting hairs replied to Kikiss's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
To be honest Dr vila is a hair transplant surgeon herself. You also need to consider physician fatigue. It's good you had two surgeons working on you instead of them switching to a technician. I know you will have excellent results. -

Interesting that Lorenzo's higher rates were justified by the fact he did all the work himself. Looks like he may have given in to demand for his work. Hopefully quality is not affected. -

I thought Lorenzo did all the extractions himself? -
Okay I just had to comment on this thread. To date there are only two FDA approved medications to treat hair loss: propecia (finasteride 1mg) and rogaine (minoxidil solution). I am from the UK and have never heard of this particular company, but we have similar companies here. They claim that they have additional treatments and treatment programmes that are better than propecia and rogaine, but the reality is there is no where near enough evidence for them. In addition, adding saw palmetto to propecia could potentially increase side effects. My advice is go to your family doctor and ask for a prescription for propecia and buy rogaine 5% foam from your local pharmacy. Don't bother with anything else as there is not enough evidence and people are just trying to take your money.

Hi, as a hospital pharmacist in the UK, drug interactions are something I come across on a daily basis. There is no known drug interaction between itraconazole and finasteride. There are many different CYP3A4 isoenzymes so it is difficult to generalise. If, for example, itraconazole inhibited the isoenzyme that metabolises finasteride, that would actually result in finasteride staying in your body for longer and reduce hair loss. I hope this makes sense.

Dr Lorenzo no longer posting results?
splitting hairs replied to splitting hairs's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Agreed. A few years back Dr feller was charging 10 dollars a graft for FUE. Rahal is also very expensive for FUE. He is also cheaper than Dr Reddy here in London who charges a flat rate of 6 pounds per graft I believe. The Turkish clinics are obviously very cheap in comparison, but Hakan uses a motorised punch and both him and Erdogan rely on technicians to do the whole procedure whilst they 'oversee' multiple procedures at the same time. I truly think Lorenzo is value when you consider that he uses a manual punch and does everything himself. He is also the only doc I have seen to be able to harvest up to 13k grafts by FUE from the head alone. -

Just noticed Lorenzo doesn't seem to be listed on this site anymore. Looks like now he's back in Spain he has no interest posting here Either way, he's still one of the best FUE docs on the planet. Maybe one of the mods can shed some light on why he has been removed?? -
Best FUE doctor in terms of graft count

Funny. The point I'm trying to make is with FUE you shouldn't be getting 5k in one session. Some docs do it and it can work well. But the risks increase. -

To be honest, with FUE even if it's over consecutive days I still think it's best not to exceed 3000 grafts by too much. Dr Lorenzo is very ethical and will probably explain this to you. Some of the Turkish clinics may do 5000 in 2 days for you but then because of the amount of trauma, and judging by a lot of the results they have posted here, it can affect the growth. If you want say 5-6000 grafts in one procedure, you could look into FUT with Hasson and Wong. Good luck -
Dr Lorenzo no longer posting results?

KO, by new videos, I mean ones post in the last 3-4 months that weren't posted on this forum. They are all on his site, with the most recent first under each Norwood class. You can check out all his latest videos here: Injertocapilar’s Videos on Vimeo You probably have seen all of them since you have chosen him for your transplant. When are you booked? What is your level of loss? -
Hi, I've noticed since Dr Lorenzo moved back to Madrid from Manchester, they have stopped posting results here. Mick from Farjo posted some of their results and so did their Spanish rep, Jose Antonio. They have continued posting on their website and Vimeo, so I suspect now they aren't in the uk they probably won't be interested in posting/ continuing their membership here. It's a shame as he is a top doc

Best FUE doctor in terms of graft count
splitting hairs replied to arsenal009's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
If you want as many grafts as possible, Jose Lorenzo is your man. He has many examples of patients that he has performed 7000+ grafts on and some upto 11,000. Please be aware though that with fue, it is advisable to not have more than around 3000 grafts in one session, as this can affect growth. Checkout his website called injertocapilar Good luck -
Any negative results from Dr Lorenzo?
splitting hairs replied to jdhillon's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
As has already been said, ALL clinics, no matter how good, will have results that are sub par. These results can be minimised by the fact Lorenzo does all the extractions and implantations himself, as i feel the use of technicians, whilst it can improve efficiency, introduces new variables which can affect the outcome. When it comes to getting a sub par result, its all about how the clinic deal with it. If they dont want to know you, then you see what they will be like with you. If they acknowledge it and offer a free touch up, then what more can you ask for? I think Lorenzo's approach will also help with the yield. He generally doesn't pack too dense as it can reduce the yield. Here a video on vimeo of a lorenzo patient where they did a touch up because the outcome was not as dense as they would have liked. Dr lorenzo 2442 FUE Apr 14 results

Wow!! Excellent result!! Great hairline design! Did you have much input in the hairline design or was it just what the doc suggested?? Also how old are you and are you on any Meds?? -
The truth about Hasson and Wong.
splitting hairs replied to hairfarmer79's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I can't see your photos so can comment specifically. But the truth is that u got a sub par result that you have every right to be unhappy with. Even the top clinics such as Hassan and Wong and Rahal have scaled their clinics up, doing multiple procedures in a day, with procedures being mostly done by technicians. This introduces too many additional variables that can affect the outcome. Clinics need to be upfront about this. They are getting greedy and patients are suffering as a result. I suggest u go to Dr Lorenzo in Spain. He is the leading FUE surgeon and he does all of the extractions and insertions himself. The techs only load the implanter device. Us patients need to create a demand for clinics where the surgeon is heavily involved in the procedure.
