  1. Hi all.

@karatekidDid you end up having you’re procedure with Dr De Freitas? Be great if you could do a result thread 🙏

yep, I did end up having it with him, and I will definitely soon try to find time to post about it, this great forum is basically where I got all my knowledge about hair transplants and good surgeons, I want to share back.

I will just say the whole procedure was really good, the doctor is very professional and nice, Im really happy I chose him.

The issue is, that I expected to have bigger procedure - more grafts, but when he examined me he said my hair situation isnt that great, basically my donor also thinning, so he cant take lots of grafts from their...  This really depressed me a bit, I wanted to have lower hairline and also put grafts on the sides.  So I cant say Im particular thrill, but again, nothing to do with the doctor, it's just my hair.  he prescribed me some meds, so Im taking them and hope maybe in future I can have another one (Im fightnig hairloss for a long time, took meds in the past, on and off, didnt help much, but trying now again with different variant, what can i lose...)

  3. Hi. I have done a procedure of ~2400 graft on my hairline 2.5 months ago. All the hair shed of course but there is still not any growing, is it ok? all the recipient area is kinda light red and almost no hair at all.  I know it takes time but I have seen here people that already had the new hair grown by that time or 3rd month.

I understand its early so Im not really worried but it seems weird.

  4. Hi all.

So I have my hair transplant procedure set to May 15. It is in another state and it's like 5 hours flight.  Im kinda nervous, and I want to make sure I got all the details and I prepare everything right to the day of the procedure, and the days after.  I plan to stay there for about 2 weeks after the procedure for the initial recovery.

I have some list but it would be very helpful if some experienced people here can add, whatever comes to mind that I might need.

One of the things that bother me the most is how Im going to walk around looking REALLY bad (I mean, even without the redness, I just look bad as bald/clean shaved, I never ever shave my head down to zero, doesnt suit me at all). So I wanted to buy some light hat I can wear,  which hats can I wear 2 weeks after procedure?

Other stuff are some neck pillow, shirts with buttons to wear in the procedure, and some movies to pass the time there because I will probably wont leave the room for few days after the procedure :)

Anyway, any advice in this subject will be helpful. I think there was somewhere in this forum a thread about all the stuff to prepare towards a transplant, I dont find it, if someone can share it here, it will be great.

    Thanks.

Did you consider Wong after Hasson only offered you FUE? Did you inquire if Hasson would perform FUT on you?

I asked him why only FUE and got some fuzzy explanation.

I didnt consider Wong since Hasson is the one whom I reviewed his cases and liked his work, especially hairlines.  So after I ruled him out I had other options which are much closer to me, since I live in the middle east, and there are really good surgeons in europe, especially for FUE.

H&W are actually very cheap for their level of quality. Check my list.

Konior prices are geared towards upper class US citizens and foreigners.

The annual net average salary in Portugal is 14.000USD so obviously the average Portuguese can’t afford Konior as it would cost what they make in 1 year.

For someone that has a annual net income over 80k (if it´s a family men with kids) or 40k (if it`s a single guy without responsabilities) I can see them considering Konior but here in Portugal less than 1% of the population make that in 1 year.

It was just a joke, lol

  7. probably all the crap that advertised in this video lol:

I was watching the video and in the beginning I was interested since I thought it was legit, but then I realized he just has a set of products that he tries to sell.  One of them is this band btw. complete bulshit anyway.

Funniest thing is that his hair didnt change at all, only different style. He is literally nw3-4

  8. Someone heard of this tablet called "COMPLIDERMOL 5 ALFA PLUS"?

I scheduled a HT procedure and they put it as part of the treatment before the procedure.   I looked a bit online but didnt see much info, I did read that it is for women thoguh (and Im a man), so why would they prescribe me that?  I never read about this pill also so it is strange.  Maybe it's some popular treatment in spain (if there are some spanish guys here)?

I want to know if it is from natural component, no side effects etc...

You feel like you have landed in a small Russian city but with a lot of muslins.
Nobody speaks English at the airport! 5 star Hotel that had only 1 person that spoke English.
City itself is ugly and stuck in time.
Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are banned here and as you can imagine there’s no uber or uber eats.
Its not really a safe place to go to due to their government regime so I told my wife it was best for her to stay home with the kids (if I had went to Porto we would have gotten a babysitter and turned my HT into a second honeymoon).

You hear the church chanting on the loud speakers something that resembles a grown man crying/singing which seems to be  the church telling everyone in the city that it’s time to pray. It’s ok the first one or two days because it’s was something I never experienced but after 2 days closed in the Hotel room listening to this it can become very annoying.

Obviously what matters is the results of our surgery so I happily endured being in this weird place for 5 nights because i trusted I was getting a great crown reconstruction with a mega session of beard grafts.

If I didn’t need a mega session with beard grafts I would surely have went to the trendy European city of Porto instead where Dr. BF does a more advanced technique for a slightly higher price than Pekiner.

Dr. BF is by the beach at Espinho (20m drive from the airport) but about 1h drive from the Airport you find the Douro Valley which is the oldest wine region in the world and in the city of Porto you have world famous Port Wine wineries so obviously nothing like going to Ancara.

You can’t compare going to the Portuguese equivalent of Napa Valley (but with much more breathtaking scenery) to a small muslin city stuck in time.
To give you some prespective check out Six Senses Douro Valley below with the hillside vineyards  :)

Looks amazing, I wished I could enjoy the traveling and the attractions of the place I go to for the transplant (where ever it will be), but I dont think I could, I will be too worried and nervous the days before the surgery, and will be too embarassed to walk around with weird looking head the days after, and probably with physical discomfort and pain.

  10. @Portugal25 I respect your opinions but I think that the fact that your friend had good results from Ferreira effects your judgement too much. It is only one patient, you cant form an opinion based on that. And reviewing his results on the web, which are not many, show that he is not bad but still not amazing, definitely not close to Pekiner's results, which are pretty crazy, his density and hairlines are of the best I have seen (not going into the whole abortion thing now). In a close price there are more options even outside turkey like Dr Maras in cyprus which is better I think.

  11. I wanted to know about hot whether - how long do you suppose to avoid sun exposure after procedure? And do you have to completely avoid it or for short times it's ok? I of course not talking about laying at the beach and getting tan, just everyday activity. And what are exactly the risks of that?

The point is Im going to have a procedure in May next year (still didnt confirm yet tho), and I live in a country with really hot whether, so it bothers me that I need to go through the time after  the procedure in such condition. And it's not only that it's hot, but I also sweat like a pig, I really sweat alot, so I wonder how does it effect the recipient area. I have no problem to wear a hat in the weeks after the transplant, but the sweat problem still exist.

Which also lead me to the second question - from what point is it ok to wear a hat? just a simple baseball cap you know.  I really dont want any risk of my follicles getting damaged 😬

Any input on those topics is welcome. It really concerns my to a point I want to move the date to somewhere during winter

https://bellicapelli.forumfree.it/?t=74988151 Italian Forum with a couto patient report - a decent result, but slightly thin hairline - removes the illusion that couto just gives everyone elvis presley hair. Would be cautious of english forums which generally have no patient testimonials whatsoever and is rather just an echo chamber of people who have never had surgery with him but just seen a few of his videos online. (I'm sure couto is very good, don't get me wrong, but this is important to point out). It's always worth going on foreign forums (google translates the page for you) as it gives you a lot more patient testimonials for some european clinics.

Well, I didnt say anything about the quality, only talked about the client relations. But if you want my opinion - one patient review that you saw isnt really indication for anything of course. As I commented here in another thread, I have seen several of his cases in the spanish forum, and the results look quite good, the point is it is hard to compare some photos taken by low quality cam in shitty lights to HQ videos as posted in his youtube channel, so it's not a simple comparison. But ye bottom line I dont think he really gives everyone the elvis hair. Are his results for the average patient still better than the other top doctors? dont know...

  13. As for Dr Couto - he doesnt even do online assessments now, his waiting list is very very long, it's really pointless to set a date for 2 or 3 years imo, and they seem very busy and you have to chase them for every question you have. I get they have high demand, but I dont think it's smart to have a procedure with this type of customer service, what about post procedure care? will I have to chase them for every little thing?

    Guys,

I understand your concerns, but you guys are beating a dead horse. What is there to explain? He aborts surgeries if he’s not confident, does it suck? Yes, but that’s why you have a choice. You don’t have to choose him if you don’t want too, very simple. Can we move on and help the OP with the original question.

If you refer to my post, I have no idea what you talking about. If anything, I was talking in the favor of the doctor, I said that we judge by a tiny fraction of his cases and it is wrong.

And why you say we beating dead horse? why is he a dead horse and who says we beating him? I think this is a legit discussion about a great doctor, that we aware of his 2 misconducted cases, and we want to know why does it happen and what are the chances it will happen for a new patient. As someone that consider him for upcoming surgery I find it important. And of course there is something to explain - why didnt he find out those problems before the surgery?  Are those super exceptional cases for some specific reasons or is it something that has high chances to occur again?

One thing you are right though, this thread is probably not the place for this discussion

  15. Ok so I want to do some order here. As I said before, aborting a surgery after some extraction is  really horrible for the patient, no doubt. But we need to look at the big picture. @Portugal25 said there are only 3 cases -

    @PT#31

    @duchaine

    @lixinfu

So the duchaine case indeed sounds bad, and that's the case everybody talking about. But the case of lixinfu is not the same at all, I read his thread - doctor Pekiner checked him before the surgery and already told him he is not a good candidate and completely refused to operate. But, the patient really insisted that he wants it done, so just after fighting with the doctor about it for a while the doctor gave up and agreed to try. After a few extractions he saw the situation is really bad since all extracted grafts had miniaturized hair and aborted. But this is of course a mistake of the patient, I would  never  argue with the doctor if he thinks Im not a candidate.

About the third case of PT31, I dont know exactly the details but lets assume it's the same as duchaine.

So, there are only 2 cases that we know of, of this bad conduct.  People tend to focus on some isolated incidents and have big conclusions. If the doctor operate on hunderds of cases, and has just a few mistakes, at the big picture it is almost nothing. Because bottom line, if I need now to choose a surgeon (which I do, and pekiner is currently one of my options), I would happily go for scenario of 98% of great results (which Pekiner do achieve), and 2% of aborted surgery.

The question still remains, that how does he didnt notice the miniaturization before? does he do microscopic analysis? what is he doing  to prevent those issues from reccuring?  I dont know, I think we should just clarify this issue with his representative.

    - I am not here to defend or bash nobody, just saying the fact and my objective view on it

And in any case the 200 grafts extracted, the patient pays them all, in the end, if we have to talk about ethics, he should not take that money, if we think well, the mistake is his, it is he who tells the patient that he is a good candidate on the basis  to the photos she sends him.

Ok this is just horrible. I actually cant believe it is true

Edit: ok I saw now the comment of portugal, this makes a bit more sense

R u joking? Do u know how devastating it would be to prepare for surgery, fly out there, all the while the doctor tells you you’re a good candidate thru email. Then while he’s extracting roughly TWO HUNDRED grafts, he tells you that he will have to abort the surgery Bc your grafts are Miniaturized. Ask @duchaine how he felt about his aborted surgery. Luckily he used his time in Turkey wisely and went to the clinic that pekiner trained at and they evaluated him and said everything was ok and even took out a few test grafts to examine. His results look excellent now.

also doesn’t Help that he had a rep on here that was telling the moderators to remove threads with bad results. Now you tell me if all of this is ok

No Im not joking, did you read what I wrote? I said that this part of aborting during the surgery is awful, especially such high number like 200 grafts.  I just wondered if it really happens often.

  18. 23 minutes ago, LonelyGraft said:

Is pekiner aborting surgeries Bc he is ethical or is he aborting surgeries Bc he’s afraid of bad cases being posted online and affecting his reputation that he’s trying to make? His rep here was attacking a member from Russia that had posted his bad results and after that it seemed like he started aborting more and more operations.

Why does it matter which one of those reason? he prefer to avoid surgeries with low potential, and honestly I dont think it is that bad, it shows he has ethics, either way you want a surgeon that his reputation is important to him, rather than one who wants only your money. And bottom line you know that if you had a procedure with him you have very high chances of good results.  The really weird part is that he aborts it DURING the procedure... I mean, is it really true? people here keep saying this, but did we really hear it happens often? if it was only one or two cases then maybe it was just some 'glitches',  But if it happens repeatedly then it is  concerning, even frontal consultation cant prevent it? I am in contact with him to verify this issue actually. It is just bad since his results are amazing, but I really wouldnt want to get aborted on the day of the surgery...

  19. 21 minutes ago, transplantedphil said:

I believe the argument for FUE in that case is that you can simply cherry pick the best grafts you want for a higher density result (the 3 and 4 hair grafts) rather than get stuck with whatever comes generally with the strip. Graft for graft then you would achieve a higher density result.

Well I got that, but this is a general statement,it's not related to my specific case . So it just means that he suggests FUE to everybody now?

  20. 3 hours ago, yesplease said:

Why were you only offered FUE and not FUT as well?

This is a good question, Im not even sure I fully understood why. I sent him a video of my donor area, and this was his exact reply:

"Dr.Hasson does not recommend FUT method surgery for you. He added that with the FUE method it is easer to achieve density because grafts are smaller, they can be dense packed and he can transplant more hairs per graft"

But what is particular about me that FUT won't suit me? I dont know, and after 2 emails I figure there is no point to argue with the doctor recommendation, whatever be the reason, so I passed on it completely
