Scouting and Recommending Unknown Surgeons
kirkland replied to Melvin- Admin's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I agree. As best practices are shared around the world with HT surgeons, there should be some real gems emerge from all corners of the globe over the coming years. It would be great if this forum shines a spotlight on their practice so that serious, researched patients can seek them out. Consider Dr. Zarev. He's not a member of this forum ( I don't think?) but our forum has definitely raised his international profile. Now imagine dozens of Zarevs' popping up all over and reaching a mature international client base through posts on here. I also agree. But more information allows for greater scrutiny and if you can pass that test, you should be a recommended clinic on here. It would be good to hear a few, honest patient reviews. Like Zarev, perhaps we won't get much in ways of reviews from patients of Dr. Pittella because his patients aren't are local and, I assume, English is not their first language. But over time, like with Dr. Zarev, we get an accountable review from someone like @HugoXwhich provides valuable insight into a little known, but intriguing, clinic. That's why I hope that, over time, someone who lurks on this forum takes a flyer on Dr. Pittella and then comes back with a review on the entire experience. I'm still fairly new and so I'm only adding my own opinion at any one point in time. This forum is still the best place, byyyyyy farrrrrrr, to come and research top HT clinics and surgeons. Provides everyone an opportunity to see results from new clinics to the established ones, or to at least learn more about the different options out there. -
If cost is an issue for you, such that you are considering Smile, consider an alternative like Eugenix. More members on this forum are familiar with Eugenix and their founding doctors are listed coalition members of this site.

I’ve heard mixed reviews on Eugenix
kirkland replied to Mattk494's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Definitely in the interest of anyone seeking a clinic to look at a variety of sources and reviews and apply critical thinking skills. It's difficult to judge results based on a single source. Having said that, the reason that this forum is so helpful is that there is an expectation that, if someone has a bad result from a clinic, they will be expected to provide evidence. -
I’ve heard mixed reviews on Eugenix

I have a similar hairloss pattern as you and I went to Eugenix last October. One of the best decisions I've made. I had the Exclusive Package which included the involvement of Dr. Arika Bansal, one of the founding doctors. She did the hairline design, incisions in the recipient area, first few extractions and overall guidance of the procedure. I was perfectly happy with this arrangement since the price was lower and the other associate doctor (who did all the rest of the extractions) and the technicians (who did sorting and placement) were all fantastic. I assume the Supreme Package is the best one available at Eugenix so that would mean the doctors are more involved, not less. I recently posted my 3-month review on Eugenix. Feel free to DM if you have any questions. -

FUE Eugenix - 2240 grafts - August 16th 2021
kirkland replied to Wicky's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
That hairline is quite natural. It's a perfect soft transition into the density behind - like a good tree line into a forest. The angles are great, too. Good job by the whole surgical team, from the angles of the premade slits to choosing the right grafts for the hairline. -
I wore both the surgical cap and a loose-fitting, zip-up hoodie. Generally, I'm not bothered with what others think but I was, for sure, self-conscious about the HT when flying back to my home country. Just put on the cap, put on the hoodie, keep your head down and pretend that you are a sullen teenager.

Oral minox 2.5 mg per day Dutasteride 0.5 mg every other day Topical RU every day (crown area only) LLLT daily (30 mins, 10 cm distance) In the last 4 weeks, I have added warm/cold scalp therapy and an apple cider vinegar rinse. I alternate between 30 seconds on warm water, 30 seconds of cold water to the scalp area and follow that cycle 3 times, then I apply a diluted solution of apple cider vinegar to scalp for 2 minutes, then rinse, shampoo, rinse.

I'm just happy to have hair on the top of my head. Going from where I was to where I am now is such a big difference for me that, even if I had my crown and temple points done, they would be of secondary interest. I told Dr. Bansal as much so her focus was just on the hairline and mid-scalp. My plan is to assess what I have at the 1-year mark and decide where I want to go from there. I don't have much beard hair to use so I have to be judicious with what I've got.

The right wavelength is important - somewhere in the 630nm to 660nm (which is the visible red light) for the kind of tissue penetration depth used in studies for hairloss. Also, the output has to be sufficient. Seems like the new lasercaps on the market are boosting their output. I use a hand-held device that I have rigged to remain stationary about 10 cm just above my scalp for a duration of 30 minutes. It has red and infra red LED's that are each 5 watts (times 12) that are greater than 100 mW/cm2.
