  1. Great interview. I think it is safe to say that hair procedures are a balancing act of expectations, unbiased approach and thinking about the future. I also re-confirmed my hypothesis that FUT is not going anywhere until regenerative medicine takes a significant step forward. It just disappoints me that FUE is so heavily concentrated on and that FUT is often considered an archaic and outdated procedure. There are going to be a lot of unhappy young people in the future as a result of becoming FUE fanboys and not doing proper research.
  2. What surgeon did you see in Toronto who recommended 1200 grafts? Since you are going with Dr Hasson, I am guessing you are looking into FUE?
  3. FUT maximizes the potential of your donor area, meaning you would have the ability to move more hair over your lifetime. It allows for more of a 'buffer' for your future in case you are not on meds and/or are destined for an advanced hair loss pattern.
  4. If it is feasible to use 3000-4000 grafts (assuming the patient has a good beard) then having 2400-3200 (80% survival rate) extra grafts is huge in my opinion. It literally gives hope to many cases, from repair, to NW6/7 and to people who just want to be able to move as much hair as possible over their lifetime. I hope there are more doctors who eventually are willing to practice and start incorporating beard hair as it's thickness can really help achieve a fuller density in the crown. Does eugenix also do FUT as well ?
  5. I believe this is an example where if he had started with FUT and then done FUE using both scalp and beard hair, his crown would be much fuller. This would have allowed him to address the crown as well especially where it dips down into his donor region. Nonetheless, this is a great transformation and beard hair grafts can really give someone the ability of having a 'full head of hair' when used as an addon. I wonder if doctors in North America would ever start using beard hair more often. Seems like they aren't too crazy about it.
  6. Wow 3000-4000 beard grafts is insane. I thought it was more along 1500-2000. Just imagine the hair one could have going FUT and then FUE (scalp and beard), assuming the person has a strong beard.
  7. Eugenix actually uses 3000-4000 grafts from the beard? Do they routinely do this without visible scarring and good graft viability?
  8. I am assuming he said you have 5000-6000 grafts total (FUT+FUE), right? Did he see your donor in person or video consult ? 5000-6000 FUT is often done in one procedure by Dr Wong. Did he break down procedure sizes? Expectations?
  9. Let us know how your skype consultation with Dr. Wong goes. Maybe ask him why he suggested FUE as opposed to FUT as well
  10. Marketing and misinformation can go a long way when words like: modern, scar-less and minimal recovery are thrown around. Knowledge is power, and you will usually get that from sources that look beyond the marketing. This is because they have the knowledge to do so.
  11. I was also under this impression after speaking with Dr. Wong, which makes sense. I guess it is something along the lines of 'go big or go home'. Since we are getting a strip scar, getting the maximum amount of grafts that our elasticity allows for is what makes it worth it alongside maximizing donor potential. However, did he mean that a second FUT is only worth it if you can get another 3000+ grafts as well ?
  12. I think being on FIN helps with potential shock loss and some doctors seem more confident than others addressing the crown. Obviously expectation has to be in check depending on donor availability and overall master plan. I find that doctors are more willing to address the crown relatively early on with patients who are willing to do FUT first as this ultimately can be the difference of being able to have some crown coverage and not
  13. This looks like it can be from shock loss (it matches the extraction location from your post-procedure pics). However, maybe your friend simply went too short when cutting your hair at that spot and if the hair was already "weak" due to the extractions from that spot and now it shows a bit more. I personally think it is temporary and you should be fine.
  14. Ya, I've heard too early can stretch the scar. I assume you naturally have a loose scalp to have 6 FUT surgeries
  15. That's good to know. Also what is your take on exercise and lifting weights after? I read so many conflicting opinions. Some say you can start up within a few weeks. Others say wait at least 6 months.
  16. Really? that's pretty interesting. I wonder why it isn't mentioned/promoted as often anymore. Maybe it has to do with the rise of FUE.
  17. Does the 'tightness' persist long term? What is the long term feeling of having FUT for the scalp/head ?
  18. The scar looks fantastic...Was Dr Wong actually able to improve on that? Do you remember how your laxity was prior to your first ever FUT ?
  19. Is there any source for this? I only ask because I have read to avoid him in general.
  20. Looks good and scar looks great. Did Dr Bloxham tell you to do scalp exercises before the FUT?
  21. That was quick. They do have a great reputation. Is it with Hasson or Wong? Also are you doing FUT or FUE ?
  22. Interesting I have been researching the same thing lately and it seems like scalp exercises seem to be the key to being able to do multiple FUT/getting a lot of grafts from FUT. However I wonder if someone who has a naturally tight scalp should embark on focusing on FUT/stripping out. Because a scar should in essence be the trade-off to actually being able to get those extra 2000-3000+ grafts lifetime right?
  23. Was there a mention of which doctor turned you down? or was it the consultant?
