  1. Shifty, We need to see more angles and better quality pics to make a better assessment. I can tell you my loss looked exactly like yours at 35 and I got on meds. It slowed down considerably to where I didn’t see hairs on my pillow anymore. But at 45 on meds I am a classic Nw 5-6. From just the one pic, what you have on top looks like it will go by the time you’re 50. Just be conservative.
  2. We will not see anything like a cure in our generation. I’ve been hearing these claims for 25 years now. My guess is we’re stil 30-40 years away.
  3. Seconded. Would love to know because that is a pluggy look.
  4. Without being able to tell what’s really happening at your hairline it’s hard to say. You’ve got a large area that looks like it will eventually go if you don’t get on meds. But I wouldn’t throw a whole bunch into the crown without having a feeling for how much you’ll need up front eventually.
  5. Wouldn’t worry just yet. Looks like just normal shed to me. You’ve got 3 more months before it starts to really grow back in.
  6. Lol! And they both still have hair in their 70s!!!
  7. Absolutely Harry. I’m more into going a little slower too. However there are price breaks for more grafts. So that’s a consideration as well.
  8. Thanks for the reply John! What kind of procedure did you have done? How many grafts? Any pics? ***Nevermind John. I found your thread. Wow! You had amazing results for so few grafts.
  9. And I have considered SMP, but I like to leave the top a little longer. 1/2 inch to inch just because I’m not a fan of my head completely shaved. I think SMP is more for a completely shaved head. Think it would funny with any stubble. I grew the top out about an inch for some family photos and added dermatch and it looked really good. Was exactly how I’d want to wear it all the time if I had hair. It wasn’t thick, but for my age, looked pretty decent.
  10. Great info Laser. I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I am currently on 1.25 mg fin from Dr. Ron at Shapiro. Just started that 2-3 years ago. Here’s some photos from Dr. Bisanga when I visited him about 5 years ago. He used some pretty harsh lighting but you can get the idea of what the fin has maintained.
  11. Great topic. My father and his father both kept their hair. My mother’s father was a solid NW V. So there’s ammo for that myth. I have 2 young sons. I wonder if genetic testing will be able to eventually predict if they will lose their hair.
  12. Thanks Melvin. I was thinking the same thing. The only reason I have been taking the fin is to hold on to what I have in the event I decide to pull the trigger on an HT. The benefit of DUT at this time probably wouldn’t produce the cosmetic reward for the risk.
  13. Any side effects with DUT? If you stop DUT, any chance you lose even more?
  14. He felt FUE would not be enough grafts. He said ultimately if I progress to a NW 7 (please no!) I would look bad with not enough donor to fill in the lateral humps. He thought my donor area in the back was too small. He estimated a max of 4500 grafts total with FUE. He was of the belief FUT may yield more grafts.
  15. Hey guys, So I’ve been a board memeber for a while and HT amateur researcher for 10+ years. I’ve been contemplating this off an on for a long time. I’m 45 now and feel it’s time to make a decision one way or the other. I’d just like to hear what you would do if you were in my shoes. I’ve worn my hair short my whole life so FUE is the only way I want to go. I’ve been reviewed by Bisanga, Lorenzo, SMG and Feriduni. Bisanga said “no”, the other 3 said yes with donor appropriate expectations. The donor area in the back is not as dense as I’d like it. Been on Fin for the last few years. The thinning started at 25 and seems to have plateaued around 40. Here are some shots, with the proposed area to be restored with 3000 grafts. What would you do?
  16. If you can’t find any reviews then please don’t do it! You have a limited amount of donor. This is not an area to be budget conscious. Find an approved doctor.
  17. The density may not be stellar, but it is a natural, non pluggy look that is age appropriate.
  18. Lorenzo usually took about 10 days or so to respond. He doesn’t have a North American rep so that makes it more difficult as he is replying personally.
  19. My thoughts exactly! Would SMP be another option? I am considering taking the plunge soon and was planning on a small test session of about 200 grafts including a few beard grafts.
  20. Looks like you got enough chest hair to fill in the crown :-) I like your hair better with a bit shorter cut. You look like a mad scientist with that Afro!
  21. I'm considering Dr Jose Lorenzo for a FUE operation and wanted to ask a few questions. I've communicated directly with the doctor via email, but with his schedule replies can be a little slow. My main request right now is to see if there are any of his clients in the US willing to show off their results in person. I realize that can be a difficult request, but feel that is really the best way to judge any HT docs work.
  22. Darn. That's a bit disappointing. I wonder how this will change future Lorenzo results.
  23. Thank you acegik for the wonderful pics. You should get a stellar result, but your pics show that FUE does indeed leave scarring. A nice, honest assessment showing that there are limitations regardless of extraction method. As a potential candidate this helps tremendously.
