  1. OK well at the time of my reply, 44 people have viewed your thread but declined to give an opinion. The first thing I did when I looked at your photo was wince. That work is NOT tidy and it doesn't fill me with confidence. You haven't provided pre-op pics but given the distribution of the grafts, it looks as though the surgeon was trying to cover a very large area with a very small number of grafts. To be fair though, I've seen post op pics that looked messier than yours which still delivered a decent results but I can see why you're concerned especially after losing grafts already. Guess all you can do right now is wait for the hair to start growing. No point agonising over what might have been had you found this forum BEFORE you decided to go under the blade but I'm sure everyone here will be cheering you on and on hand to advise in the event you want to give it another go with a recommended surgeon
  2. A lot of hushed awe but I'm sorry; this looks like a semi-comb over IMHO. Where are the shots of the hair combed back to reveal the HAIRLINE???!!! Say what you like but, in my view, elaborately coiffured hairstyles in results photos don't fill me with confidence. There's no doubt over the improvement - especially in the crown area - but I wouldn't be jumping for joy if I had to style my hair like that to create the illusion of having a full head of hair. What happens when he goes out and a gust of wind blows that hairstyle away? Sorry to shut off the cheerleading music but I expect this forum to hold surgeons and clinics to higher standards of presentation in their results than this - it ain't like they can't bloody well afford it
  3. Well hang on a sec. If you rocked up here asking about Dr. Lorenzo or Dr. Reddy or something, then people would have something to say based on having had actual experience. This Vinci clinic may be very good but chances are, if they're not recognised by people here, that should tell you something. If you want opinions based on actual experience and you can't find any on here then go ask on other forums or search Google. Alternatively go with Vinci and discuss your options with a surgeon who's inaccessible to you until the day of your procedure. I dunno . . .you try and help people
  4. It's possible they may be ok but why take the risk? Seen lots of people come on here after going to "Anyoldclinic" and being saddled with poor FUT scars, mickey mouse growth and no refund. Do what you like but remember; you DON'T want to get this wrong. Nothing worse than having a botched result after waiting a year then having to get a repair done at extra cost and having to wait ANOTHER year for it to grow in.
  5. Damn straight. These Turkish clinics were HT rock stars when they first arrived on the market with their ultra-low priced, densely-packed ops on Norwood 2 guys with ideal donor but lately, I've been reading all sorts of things that leave me a little concerned. Techs being bussed to multiple locations in order to do two or more procedures a day, doctors leaving extractions to techs while they go on extended tea breaks, 5,000 FUE extractions in a day??!! Think twice, folks. Think twice
  6. Buzz2 I'm absolutely gutted for you. It's heart-breaking when you do all your research, get your hopes up and then nothing happens. I think its utterly egregious that there could even be a SUSPICION that surgeon and techs rushed your procedure so they could accommodate another patient undergoing surgery at the same time. You've lost 2100 grafts and wasted a year of your life waiting for a result that you really had no business expecting if, as you suggest, the surgeon was running backwards and forwards between you and the other patient. Good for you for getting your coin back but I know you'd have preferred your hair.
  7. Please tell me you're not holding out the result in that link as an example of slow growers ending up with great results. Those results were awful.
  8. His is one of those unicorn cases. I accept now that there are slow growers but, as I said - based on what I've seen on this forum - guys who haven't had much growth by the 6 month mark very rarely return with outta-the-park results by month 10
  9. No I'm sorry but 7 months is NOT too early to be pressing the panic button. Frankly, the doctor's can't have it both ways. They can't post early results where a patient's had excellent growth in the 1st 4 or 5 months and not expect other patients to compare themselves and their procedures. By doing so, they're saying, "Hey Shmo, this could be you in 4 or 5 months time so come in for a consultation and we'll getcha hair in no time." While I've softened my views on what I once thought was the "myth of the slow grower", from what I've seen on this very forum, it's rare for those who haven't displayed meaningful growth after 6 months to sprout Brad Pitt-like locks in months 7, 8 and 9. Sorry but the sickly sugar-coating of feedback on patients' progress is getting more and more insidious on this forum There are way too many people trying to protect cash cows and doctors' reps instead of coming up with meaningful explanations as to why a $5,000-15,000 procedure carried out by an ostensibly highly-qualified surgeon can turn in such mickey mouse results.
  10. Unnatural looking, I agree but fantastic yield and growth
  11. Very much in agreement with this. Those suggesting that 6-8 months is "early days" are being disingenuous and 9 times out of 10, are just offering false hope. More often than not, the kick-ass results are looking well underway by 6 months. While I accept that there are genuine slow growers, I think 80% of patients who are described as such are actually nothing of the sort - they've just had failed hair transplants and are being told to wait longer for confirmation. In this patient's case, I don't think he should've gone for a HT procedure at all let alone a mega FUE session but what's done is done. Another procedure with the same surgeon?? I don't the "hair of the dog that bit you" approach applies to HTs. If the surgeon botched it 1st time, go elsewhere
  12. Actually, quite a few patients are smokers and there are more than a few posting here who smoked at home or outside the hotel after their procedures. There's no conclusive evidence to suggest that smoking ruins or adversely affects the outcome of a hair transplant. Of course, I'm not saying it's a good idea but increasingly these days, a careless or inadequately-trained tech represents a bigger threat to a favourable result than a few ciggies.
  13. I think there's some truth in that. I had a "weak" side during my 1st procedure. I thought it might have been a blood flow issue but my repair procedure with a better surgeon has proved that it was a shitty tech at my first surgery who screwed up implantation. Just short of 5 months post op, what WAS the "weak" side is looking exactly the same as what WAS the "strong" side in terms of density.
  14. Dr. Diep is OK and even though I had a Skype consultation and came away feeling less than convinced that he understood my situation, I find it hard to argue with the results he's put up.
  15. Photos under sunlight tell the true story. I certainly wouldn't want to evaluate the results of my HT under anything less.
  16. Bernstein's good but potentially too conservative and you'll end up with an improvement but not a dramatic one. Feller will change your life.
  17. I'm pretty shocked; that's the kind of result I'd expect from a hair mill, not a surgeon with a pedigree as impeccable as that of Dr. Rahal. I don't buy that "wait until 18 months" flannel either. Yes it's true that a lot of maturation can take place in the 12-18 month period, but I think it's disingenuous to suggest to a patient that there's going to be a surge in growth to come after 12 months have passed. Dr Rahal will stand by his work but there is the issue of going back to the same doctor who didn't get it right first time. Personally, I'd rule that out especially if I thought there was shoddiness from the techs. Rahal IS one of the best - no doubt - but, if it was me, I wouldn't give him another shot
  18. In answer to your question, no I haven't been to Ziering but you're right; the purpose of this site IS, indeed, to provide support to pre and post op HT patients. Myself and a few other posters advised the OP to be wary of Ziering's outfit with perfectly valid justifications for doing so. I DO remember highlighting "APPEARS" in boldface on my post since there was no way to be absolutely certain you were/are a shill. If you're not, then I offer an apology but I'd still very much urge the OP to spend his money elsewhere with one of the recommended surgeons on here or one of the other hairloss communities.
  19. How fortuitous, then, that you should discover this thread on this forum and make your inaugural post a glowing review . . . without providing a shred of evidence to back it up in the way of photos. The OP should avoid any clinic that APPEARS to employ shills. Of course, he's free to go with whomever he chooses but he came here looking for advice, and here it is. The last thing you want to be doing is be back on this website a year from now asking advice on how to get a botched procedure repaired when you're already a few grand out of pocket and down 2500 precious grafts. Get yourself over to Brussels - it's a hour's flight, fer Chrissakes - see the Premier league players like Feriduni, Mwamba and Bisanga; class acts every one of them. The procedure you get is one you'll have to live with for the rest of your days so it makes sense to have top people working on it; not also rans
  20. Just because a doctor shares your ethnicity, it doesn't mean they can automatically give you a great result. You have to base your decision on examples of their work with your hair type, if any. For example, Dr. Bisanga is an African but I haven't seen a great number of results from him featuring African patients and certainly not using FUE. Dr. Diep is of Asian descent but he's done good work on countless patients with African hair. As for Dr. Umar, he's a good surgeon but he does lots of repairs of botched work and body-hair procedures. You would do well to look at Dr. Mwamba. He's got lots of checkable track record with black hair types using both FUE and FUT, he's consistent, he's a consummate professional and he runs his clinic with near-military precision
  21. Best FUT docs: Konior, Feller, Shapiro and Rahal
