Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

  1. Hello, I have no other place and no other people to ask for opinions. I want to tell you my story, and I want opinions on what I should do based on my case; I am 20 years old. I've had a very receded and high hairline since birth, I've always somewhat of a bald head. I have very receded temples, and a very high frontal hairline. It has killed my confidence since I was a child, till today. Of course, now, I have some products to help me hide it and some style I do. But, it takes me literally around 1-2 hours EVERYDAY to fix it to somehow hide my baldness. It frustrates me, drains me every single day, makes me hate myself. I researched about hair transplants, and I was looking at clinics in Turkey. I found Dr. Serkan Aygin and some others, I got consultation from them and found out how many grafts I need..etc. But theres something I'm worried about - since I'm still only 20, and since I've had a receded hairline since birth, what if that makes me highly likely to get even more bald later on? I really, really wanna get a hair transplant but I'm also scared it'll go to waste and my hair will still fall out and get bald again. At the same time, the reason I want a hair transplant is to feel young, and feel confident when I'm young, because I never got to experience how normal hair feels like. Ever. I won't care as much about my hairline when I'm older as much as I do when I'm younger, because I want to date, I want to live my life and enjoy my time in my youth, I want hair now, not later when I should be more mature and responsible. What should I do? If I do get the hair transplant, how do I make sure not to ever get bald again? I really need some advice here, my hairline is attached in the pics provided, it's been somewhat similar to that since birth, but of course with puberty and age it got a little more receded than it initially was, but my forehead has ALWAYS been this high. Please, give me advice, I was planning on getting a hair transplant next year right after I graduate from university. I just want to feel young and my age for once in my life. I want to wake up without having to fix my hair for 2 hours trying to hide anything.
  2. Hair loss is an exceptionally a basic issue that a number of people suffer from. When you are thinking about how to avoid hair thinning, there are some things you should do to take care of your hair naturally. Hair may be dead but you should know how to maintain them. Losing a couple of strands of hair is ordinary and not something you should stress over, In case, if there is a notable amount of hair fall at that point it can cause you some worry. Hair consist of protein. Hair fall and its causes can be noticed clearly in most of the situations. However, the best hair transplant clinics are available in Mumbai with the best techniques. Listed below are some of the tips to take care of your hair naturally: Oversee the quantity of oil in your hair: A lot of amount of oil in your hair can cause problems like dandruff because of the weather conditions, this dilutes the scalp of your hair and causes it to fall. The best and easy way is to use a shampoo that is rich in Neem and Aloe vera. These elements will help keep your scalp crisp which in return will reduce the quantity of oil in your hair. Caution: Wet Hair: Your hair becomes weak when it is wet. Wet hair is often neglected when considering the aspects of what causes hair thinning. Let your hair dry naturally is the best way. In case if you want to comb your hair when it is wet a wide-toothed comb is the best solution. If you apply too much force while combing with other brushes it may harm your hair. Let your hair dry naturally, drying them with artificial heating and drying methods can make your hair fragile. In case if you have a habit of combing your hair frequently you should stop that because it can damage your hair. Consume less alcohol and cigarettes: Immoderate alcohol intake can reduce your hair growth, the people suffering from hair fall should reduce their alcohol intake Smoking reduced blood flow in the scalp. So this is a heads up for those people who are suffering from hair loss and consume an excessive amount of alcohol and cigarettes. Think twice before putting it in your hair: There are a number of hair products we get now a day like hair color and hair gels that contain a lot of chemicals that can be dangerous for your hair. When you use these kinds of products make sure that they are from a well-known company, avoid using products from an unknown source as they may contain harmful chemicals. At times hair loss can be caused due to medicines so be sure that you take medicines subscribed only by your doctor. In the case of the care procedure post hair transplant, you should only take medicines that are prescribed by your doctor and not consider taking anything unprescribed. Healthy eating: A healthy diet plays an important role for the people who are suffering from hair loss. Vitamin A helps with sebum production, vitamin B helps maintain the healthy look of your hair and vitamin E betters blood circulation in the scalp. Vitamin A and B can be found in meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products while Vitamin E is found mainly in vegetable oil, wheat germ, nuts, nut butter, and seeds. To make your hair strong you need to eat protein-rich food product. Hair loss can happen due to a lot of reasons there is nothing specific. One can only protect their hair by taking care of them. One of the most important times to take care of your hair is after a hair transplant: when you’re considering What to do post hair transplantation operation, you should consider this aspect. In case if there is excessive hair fall and damage is done to your hair the only way to make it fine is a hair transplant in India, from the best hair transplant clinic in Mumbai.
  3. When people think about their losing hair, often times a thought sparks in the mind about getting a wig to replace all of the hair loss. This might be a solution and might make you feel good in the short term, but here is why getting a wig is not a permanent solution and is not something you should consider pursuing in the quest for better hair. Thinking about the nature of a wig, it cannot be a permanent solution because you have to consistently update the wig and get renewed wigs different wigs every time. A hair transplant surgery is once and is final, whereas a wig is recurring and is not final. One of the apprehensions that people have when considering a hair transplant surgery is that there is a lot of blood involved with the surgery but the reality is that there is no blood loss involved in a hair transplant surgery. Skin problems – Wearing a wig causes skin irritation and itching and is not a permanent solution because it causes scalp itchiness and redness and irritation. On the other hand, if you were to go through a surgery, Aren’t done by trusted doctors – A wig is not made by a doctor that is well trusted and has years of experience and training doing something repeatedly. Doesn’t solve the problem – Wigs are inherently a short term solution and don’t address the actual problem, the problem is that there is not enough hair on someone’s head and a wig is simply window dressing to cover up this aspect rather than offering an actual well thought out solution. Can lead to even more hair fall – Wearing a wig can actually lead to even more hair fall than normal. Wearing a wig stresses the hair follicles at the base, which makes it a problem for someone who is concerned with their natural hair and increasing their number of hair follicles. Stress on the hair follicle causes the hair follicles to gradually weaken and eventually fall out of their natural place. The excess stress on the hair follicle is not good for existing hair follicles as well as subsequent hair growth. Regular Maintenance – Wigs require a consistent and constant investment, they’re expensive and need to be renewed after a while. In the long run, a hair transplant could actually prove to be a better investment than a wig. If you’re considering the cost of a hair transplant in Mumbai then it might actually be beneficial to get a hair surgery than it would be to get a wig. If you’re looking for a better solution than wigs then you might want to look for a hair transplant in Delhi or Hair transplant clinics in Mumbai.
  4. I began losing hair at crown alone at 18 years old which has progressed to diffuse over whole scalp, had used finasteride on and off between 18-20 but have been using everyday since 20 yrs old, seeing hair loss slow down but not stabilise. I recently underwent an fue hair transplant procedure totalling 3200 grafts (6897 hairs) by ak clinics in Delhi. My hair count prior to surgery was 90 units/cm2 , 187hairs/cm2, my hair loss is progressive but I was also advised I have good donor area/cm2 to harvest. I am curious as to how many grafts I could be able to harvest via scalp in a lifetime with final baldness pattern is showing significantly, noting I have already taken 3200 grafts (1400 crown, 800 midscalp, 1000 front scalp) Any advise or opinions are appreciated. Regards
  5. I had 2000 units for a hair transplant on my crown. Shortly after the surgery, within a month or two, I developed anemia due to parasites -- unknown to me. I had anemia for about 4 months after the surgery before I corrected it. I've read that hair lost due to anemia grows back. Will follicles planted after a hair transplant be destroyed if I had anemia post transplant? They seemed to take root ok within the first month after surgery. Will they too grow back once the anemia was corrected?
  6. Hi, my name is Zac and while I'm waiting (very patiently) for my hair to grow I figured I'd take the time to share my results. Thanks to all who have shared their results and stories in the past, as they've helped me a great deal in preparing for the process. I just turned 40 years old in July, about a month after my surgery with Dr. Vories in South Carolina. It took me a few years to decide to have the transplant, but the only thing really holding me back was the cost. I felt Dr. Vories was fairly priced in comparison to most I'd researched, and his results seemed to be on par with the best I'd seen, if not better. I made an appointment for a 2000 graft session to fill in my crown for June of 2017. My experience at his clinic was great. Everyone there made me feel comfortable. They fed me lunch and we watched Caddyshack (my choice..they have hundreds on Apple TV) for the portion of the surgery where I was upright. For the extraction I laid on my stomach with my head facing right for 500, then left for 500 more, then with my head straight down in a massage style pillow for the final 1000. We ended up with 2004 grafts extracted. The only painful part was the numbing, which is a decent needle prick over and over in the area he's working. I sat upright (but leaning back a bit) for the rest of the surgery. Again, the pain was fairly mild and only during the numbing portion. He started to implant a few a little soon on one spot, and I simply told him I could feel it so he numbed me up a little more and on we went. So far I feel good about the decision and the process. I have pics I'll attach below from before, 1 day, 3 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, and 2 months. The 3 month mark will come in mid-September, at which point I'll continue to load new pics monthly. Thanks again to all who operate this website and all who have contributed to the forum.
  7. Hi Everyone, I was at my best friends engagement party last night. I ended up having about 6 drinks then I Ubered home. I'm just curious if I should re-schedule my surgery, how serious is having drinks four days before my scheduled date of operation? Please let me know, as I am now concerned. All the best, Adam

  12. Dear all, This is my first time ever posting on a site like this. It seems like such a great place for guidance. As it stands I am 28 years old soon enough and have saved up a fair amount of money. My hairline shape has always bothered me from the age of 21. My father is not bald however my mum has a distinctive triangle shape which I have inherited--- looking like Dracula. So I have been researching hair transplants for about 3-4 years now. My hair loss doesn't seem to be worsening or changing . I have narrowed my surgeons to 3. Dr Diep, Drj Pak and Dr Umar - I have spoken to each of them over email sending them pictures to which they have given similar responses of around 1500 grafts. I am not to bothered about cost as the difference between each doctor is minimal. Does anyone have any experiences with these Doctors or any information? Thanks do much. I will attach pictures. Denis Ps I live in London and have spoken to the Farjo institute but feel the USA is further ahead ok the field.
  13. Hello everyone, I am new to this so thanks in advance for any advice Basically its been 3 years I have been suffering from hair loss. I have been on propecia for 3 years now. The issue is that I am suffering from telogen effluvium due to thyroid nutritional deficiency and chronic stress. My hair has been miniaturized. I tried minoxidil to thicken up but gave me side effects; dry skin and dark circles eyes, so I quit after a month. I have been told because it is telogen effluvium; its reversible. For the past 3 years its been the same. I contacted few hair transplant surgeons but they refused to carry out any procedure mainly because I am young as I am 24 and huge risk of shock loss. They basically said its best if I wait for a few years. I tried everything; oils, vitamin pills etc. I am about to start forcapil, which I have been told is a great supplement especially when it comes nutritional deficiency. I am not looking for drastic results, I just want my crown and hair line back so that my scalp is even, I have miniaturised hair at the crown and hair line; someday it looks thicker and sometimes it just gone. I am considering Scalp pigmentation with existing hair, that would sort add some thickness illusion. I am definitely going for a transplant in a few years, until then I really cant think of an alternative other than pigmentation. Any advice on what's the best way to treat telogen effluvium? Many thanks

  17. Hi Guys, After interviewing all of NYC's recommended doctors (Bernstein, T/D, Feller) I've decided on going ahead with the procedure with Dr. Wesley. I felt most comfortable with him. He said that his technique is so precise that I shouldn't expect any shock loss. T/D said I would expect considerable shock loss. Wesley also spent the most time with me and showed me multiple before and after pictures of patients with similar cases to me. He thinks I will have between 23-2500 done. Quick question- How long do the sores/scabs usually last? I have long hair which might cover a bit, but how long before i can go out in public and not be totally noticable? Here's what it will look like:

  19. Hi, I'm Derek and am new here. I'm 31 years old and have been losing my hair slowly since I was 19. I have been on Propecia and have been on Avodart for the past few years. For the most part it has worked. I am not balding on my crown that bad, but my hairline keeps on receding ever so slowly and it's gotten to the point where I need to do something about it. Luckily I have pretty long hair so I am able to somewhat hide the fact that it is receding. Who is the absolute best person to go to for transplant work in New York? I have been told I have terrific donor areas and would only need my hairline filled in and a bit on crown. Dr. David Orentreich has been my family dermatologist for years, and has kept me with a good amount of hair, but I can't find many reviews on him. I know his father Norman created the hair transplant, but is he good? I have been doing research and it also sounds like Carlos Wesley is very good as is Dr. Bernstein . I feel like Berstein might just have the best advertising though! There is also Dr. Feller.. Can anyone lead me to the absolute best? Luckily, I make a good enough living that I am willing to pay to have the best results. I've attached some pics of my "situation" Any advise would be so so appreciated.

  22. Hi all, First of all, great work with the forum. Only a person who is losing his/her hair knows the mentaility of another one I'm a 26 year old male with NW 5 type hair loss. I went through a hair transplant in 2011 (3200 grafts) in India, but the results were very much patchy. When I asked the doctor about this not so good result, what he told me was that I had lost further hair (non-transplanted) and that was the issue. And last time I was in a hurry to get the transplant done, so that I did not come across this forum, and it was only after the surgery I found out that the particular surgeon was not recommended here. It was my fault. So, here am I thinking of another transplant, and I have done some research on this area and on surgeons. I don't have any local HT surgeons so I chose Dr. Pathuri Madhu from India, who is recommended in this forum. Just about to get in touch with Dr. Madhu, so I thought of getting your expert opinion first! Any reason that I should not choose Dr. Madhu? Thanks a lot everyone!

  25. Are all of the post surgery forum members in the upper 15% of the income strata? After gobs of research, I fail to see how the working class or the middle class afford hair restoration via surgery. Are there that many rich folk posting here? Consultations with the Bosley people in New York and a private surgeon in Ontario reveal that my baldness would take appox 4000 grafts at five bucks per. That's a staggeringly amount of $$. I make ten bucks an hour.
