This is the only reaction I've had; people have asked what I'm doing when I look so fit and healthy, but nobody has mentioned my hair.

Thanks for the reply Jotronic. I think my hair is slightly thinner because of how my scalp has slightly stretched to compensate for the missing strip - not because of shock loss or anything like that. It looks OK to me though and I can't tell the difference in the density looking at it now and how I remember it before the HT. I don't have mounds of loose scalp at the back but it doesn't feel tight either; it also feels as it did befor the HT.

As the others have mentioned, "natural" is what first comes to mind when seeing your pictures - nobody would ever guess that was a HT! Congratulations Gorpy

How did it go Facelessman? What was the final number of grafts?

Wow, that was quick healing - not much redness after only 4 days!

But if other doctors estimate that I only have 2000 donor grafts left, is it likely that H&W would be able to get more than this? I know that you can easily do 4000+ but I'm talking about remaining donor availability (my donor was average but after the 2700 strip, the density is now below average). If Proscar improved the quality of your donor hair, does this mean that you would lose transplanted hair if you stop finasteride or if it stops working for you at some point?

I'm jealous! Did you have mega amounts of donor hair or are Drs H & W able to extract more than other docs are able to? I've had 2700 and have been told that I have 2000 left but I need a lot more

Sounds like you need to get medical... could be early warning signs of a cardiovascular disorder.

Well strip surgery is scalp reduction too in a way - just in the area where there is hair instead of the bald area. You could wash your hair with antiseptic hand-cleaner gel, the stuff car mechanics use... it gets rid of grease and oil.

Straight up, eg. "Your hair is looking great, have you had a hair transplant or something?" (this is how I would like to be asked about it...)

It depends on the size of HT you are having. I had 2700 grafts in the front 1/3 and had the front half of my head shaved. So, my HT was very obvious for much longer than 3 weeks. Having fair skin I had problems with redness and suffered a lot of shock loss in the recipient area. I didn't have any shock loss around my donor area but had a very wide area shaved which was impossible to cover with anything other than a hat. I eventually had to shave my head to even things up. My transplanted hair started growing after 2 months 3 weeks and grew so quickly that I had a covering of hair after a week of growth and took my cap off at around 3 months. Nobody has asked me about my HT even though it was obvious seeing as I wore a cap in the office for 3 months. I haven't told anybody about it but if someone were to ask me about it, I wouldn't be bothered and would gladly discuss it.

You should have informed her that with modern liposuction, it would be possible for her to have the excess fat removed from her flabby butt and belly and placed on her chest where her breasts should be That would have shut her up.

I am an "older guy" (46) . I haven't noticed any change in color as my transplanted hair grew - most of my hair came in the same light-brown color it was in the donor area. The techs said I had a few white donor hairs and asked if I wanted them or not, I took them, better white hair than no hair The only white hairs I have are the ones that were white already before the HT.

Perhaps 5 to 7 years. Hopefully my hair will continue to thicken and knock some more years off. I haven't had any comments about looking younger but have had comments about looking healthier.

I weigh 182 and want to be below 170... it's not easy I want my body to match my new hair too.

How did the interview go? Has your hair grown enough to cover the scar?

I started working out on the same day I had my stitches out (day 9) without any problems (and I mean REALLY working out - not light exercise...).

Dr Feller seems like an ethical guy to me and I'm sure he knows what he's talking about ??“ he does have something like 15 years of experience of HT surgery. I would take the advice he has given you. If the hair in your donor area isn't very dense, it may be that any more than 2000 would mean doing an exceptionally large strip. I had a similar problem due to poor donor density at the sides and I could only get 2700 in one go but I can go back for a second similar sized operation later once the last strip has fully healed; which it pretty much has now 6 months post-op (I'm going to see him next week for a consultation ).

You're so right! I wouldn't even have a HT in India if they were to pay me to have it! The same goes for the UK - some of the worst butcherings I've seen have been done in the UK.

Why do you need to cover your donor if you are 6 months post-op ?? I am also 6 months post-op and my donor area has been back to normal for 3 months, at least. I tried DermMatch when my transplanted hair was in its early stages of growth and it didn't really help, it looked like I'd smeared boot polish on my head and I got more on my scalp than on my hair.

Your hair looks great to me, I wouldn't have anything done with hair like that. You look better than most do AFTER a hair transplant. PB
