  1. @JDEE0 Just stumbled across this!  I haven't seen any work from Dr. Pinto before so this will be an interesting follow.  You had an enviable head of hair going into this surgery, also stellar donor characteristics.  I like how Dr. Pinto angled the hairs forward in the corners, it really matched your natural growth pattern.  Donor looks great.  I think you'll be a happy camper in a couple months!

Edit: You are the ideal candidate for FUE!

I am trying to understand if with my slow progression I can expect not do anything else at least until I am around 60.

You're trying to predict the future.  Just as likely is that after your transplant you'll want more density in that same area before the rest of your hair falls out behind it.  Don't be surprised if round 2 is just a couple years later.

  3. Some of the hairline grafts will need to be punched out - I see a number of multi-hair grafts up front but that's an easy fix.  You may want to consider a two-step approach.  1) Punch out the poorly angled and multi-hair grafts and give it a few months to heal.  2) Undergo another surgery to increase the density in the hairline.  The pitting will be camouflaged with more surrounding hair, also pitting improves with time.  It's hard to tell from the pic, but the strip scar doesn't look great.  So you'll have a decision to make whether to go FUT or FUE.  Where are you located?  You should be very selective with who does your next surgery.

  4. @SadMan2021 I agree your hair looks good when styled.  How old are you?  The reason I ask is that it is likely that you'll want more surgeries down the road just for more density.  Perhaps during a larger session, you can focus on punching out the most egregious of the poorly angled grafts (say somewhere 50-100).  So it wouldn't be a full on repair surgery.  Sometimes more hair hides these imperfections... for me it helped disguise the cobblestoning I had from my first surgery.

Hmm yes I worried about hair growing strange places because I’ve seen when younger kids took it they almost looked like werewolf’s.

I think I know the case you are talking about, and I believe they were misprescribed with a much larger dose of oral minoxidil.  That drastic a case of hypertrichosis is probably not possible with such a low dosage.

  6. @Baldingat22 Since you've been on fin for a year already it's probably not a bad idea to try oral minoxidil.  It seems that most docs have their patients cut the 2.5mg tablet in half or the 5mg tablet in fourths to start, so roughly 1.25mg.  This way the body can get used to the medication before upping the dosage to 2.5mg.  Hypertrichosis, were hair grows in non scalp areas, is one of the most common side effects.  For me, I've noticed some vellus hairs coming in between my eyebrows and temple points.  I haven't noticed dry/oily skin or acne/eczema breakouts yet, but I've only been on it for a month.
