  1. I've read about a lot of guys on here really increasing their protein intake, through shakes, etc.
  2. You're really not all that far away from a world-class hair clinic at about $4 per graft. Listen to NG2GB, he is speaking the truth! At 40, you might just be wishing you were bald so you don't have to cover up a bad job. Check out the dude in Vegas, as I think he does in-house financing. Look up and click on "Find a Surgeon". Good luck and take your time.
  3. Dr. Cooley gives a full 10% discount on certified check received at least one week prior to surgery. That's a nice discount on 10 grand, in my opinion.....

  5. It just shows that we still haven't found what we're looking for..... The Edge, I mean Dewayne
  6. I don't really get it. I was looking at Epstein's site and he's got a lot of before / afters of facial hair, chest hair, etc. transplants. In todays society, I believe I'd just shave my beard rather than go through with that. And a lot of guys shave their chests, as well.

  8. Congrats Gator, I'm having 2,500 myself in a couple of weeks. I've had several emotions lately, but I'm ready to go....
  9. Isn't it ironic that a lot of us want hair back so bad but then want to shave it? I'm the same. I think it's a psychological thing with me, as before I was thinning I never thought about clipping my hair close. Of course, that sort of thing wasn't in style in the 80's but still..... Maybe it's just that we want to have options, after not having any for so long.
  10. My vote would be for Alexander or Epstein, but I'm sure the other two are good as well. Check out some pics that Alexander has posted; it looks like he does world-class ht's.
  11. Andre Agassi looks pretty good too, but I agree on the Bruce Willis. Has anyone ever seen The Edge's head that's always under that toboggan? He's the guitarist for U2.
  12. Joe, I don't think it gets better (or a better value) than Cooley, Charles (understudy of Shapiro?) or Lindsey (understudy of Feller?) or Alexander. There's also another Dr. in Canada who worked under Wong.
  13. Not that I'm trying to pick up women, but a lot of things in life come back to that reference point!
  14. Struggling; You and I are in a similar boat. I too had a 'mini' graft transplant 17 years ago. At 41, I don't mind thinning but I think about the unnatural look I'm starting to notice as well. Sometimes people look up at my hairline, and I don't know if that is because of the thinning or they can see the unnatural 4-hair grafts hairline. I'm going to Cooley in 20 days, and I think I'm going in telling him first and foremost; I want a "repair job". I actually think women are attracted just as well to thinning heads, but I'm not so sure about the plug look. And, I'm thinking when I'm 47 it's going to be even more noticeable. You can use the 'find' above to see the thread I posted a couple months back with some pics.
  15. Good question and points. I'm a financial advisor, so I can certainly relate to where you're coming from. I got a ht before I was married, and made payments on it. From what you've posted, I'd recommend you wait. Things will be much easier when you're 40 - 41 yrs. old, even with a reasonable improvement in your earnings. That's part of being a man. Don't make your family do without something because you want some hair. On the other hand, it's tough going through your 30's looking like this - but it sounds like that's what you must do. Start trying to systematically invest $50, $100 or whatever you can into a good growth and income mutual fund such as American Funds or Oppenheimer Funds, and designate that as your hair fund. Make sure you try and do without something to 1) Make sure you aren't still hurting the family, and 2) still feel good about it. I gave up dipping skoal about 7 years ago and saved about $3.50 per day. Drive a piece of shit for a few years while you save. Don't buy coffee at the store in the morning... Do something is all I'm saying. FWIW, a $100 investment per month for 10 years at 8% interest compounding should get you about 5,000 grafts, or $18,874. And, prices on ht's have gone down the past 10 years! By the way, as I recall Willie Loman had a head full of hair and a hot chick on the side He was a damn loser anyway, so I wouldn't bring his sorry ass into your thinking anyway......
  16. I found it interesting he says he has never seen one 'mega' session of 5,000 look twice as full as a 2,500 session. If that is true, then the only benefit to a mega session would be the comfort of not having to go through a second one. In my view, it would take the financial aspect out as there would obviously be yield issues with the 'mega' session - if that were the case.

  18. Personally, I'd shave and shine that thing up and spend about $5k on three or four new, custom tailored suits, a gym membership and a pair of running shoes, and maybe the first months payment on a nice Lexus automobile! I had lost a lot of hair at 25 when I had my 1st ht, and now at 42 I'm limited on the hairstyle I can have - and shaving or even clipped close isn't an option.
  19. IMHO, if you have a good build and a nice looking head, I'd consider wearing it shaved slick for a few years. Back in '88 when I was 22 this wasn't considered an option as far as style goes. But seriously, with the number of good-looking heads walking around shaved today I would consider it. If you're overweight, it doesn't look so good. In my business (investments) I see a lot of men from 28 - 40 who call on our firm who look very good with a shaved head; as most are in great shape and wear suits to work every day. If you've got money and a nice looking body - all of a sudden your head looks good to women! If you can pull it off, I think it's a great look and will cause you less grief if you just shave it every morning and forget about it. I know this site is about transplants, but I'm dead serious. There are plenty of examples, such as Bruce Willis, J. Gordon Liddy, Andre Agassi (on the front of GQ this month) and plenty of others. There are worser (if that's a word) case scenarios.
  20. I'd check with this guy in Vegas, as he appears to do world class work and offers a 12-month same as cash financing plan. And, he's recommended by this site. http://needhair.bannerview.com/financing/
  21. My 'mini's' were like $10 each back in '91. Adjusted for 3% inflation, that's $17.10 per graft in today's dollars! And that's fours, five, eights, etc. Unbelievable.
  22. That's true. Alexander in Arizona said on here he charges $4 per graft, and so does Dr. Cooley. I think both pay the hotel bill, too. Are there any docs in the world significantly better than those two?
  23. I agree with you, Gator. I'm north of Atlanta up I75 and I got confused in the beginning by all of this as well. I felt Dr. Griffin was professional as well. But they seem to use a different lingo than all or most other clinics. But, from what I could tell he was more expensive than a couple others when I got it to apples to apples comparisons. Now, he might always go over I don't know. But I do know two other world class doctors within 300 miles of Atlanta were about 30 - 50% less expensive, from the way I calculated it. And another thing, if I hadn't already sent in a $500 deposit I'd consider Dr. Epstein as well based on the pics posted on this site; so I'd definitely take my time. Some other good ones close to Atlanta that I found are Dr. Cooley in Charlotte, Dr. Charles in Boca Raton, and Dr. Fisher in Nashville.
  24. I tell you, I live about 45 minutes from Dr. Griffin and if I were him I would change my price structure because it is at the best, confusing, and at the worst, much higher than the others. If you'll type in his name, you'll read my experience which is similar.
