  1. Crown. I had 300 'mini's' back in '91 by Latham's Hair Clinic in Huntsville, Alabama. Supposed to have been all 4 hair's, but Dr. Griffin said there are some 8 hair plugs in the crown.
  2. you still think 4,000? These are with natural sunlight and I'm sorry I can't post them all in this one post. Brand new haircut today too. New barber = too short.

  4. I visited him over 2 years ago, and he said it depended on my preference and finances, but if money was no object he'd recommend a large. My pics are posted below in another thread and those who responded thought I needed 4,000. I'd like to do about $7500 worth, and then some more in a few years to be honest. I have a good income and all, but for some reasons this hurts more than say, a new car purchase. I know it shouldn't, but I'm a little more tight with this I suppose.
  5. Transplant Dude, Will you read my post titled 'Confused' and give me your opinion? The lady said they rarely have anyone needing more than 1500 graphs. I would like to hear your perspective since Dr. Griffin did yours. Thanks.
  6. Alright, I've called back to Dr. Griffin's office and talked with a nice young lady. Here are his session breakdowns of the strip method sessions: Small (800 graphs) $5600 Medium (1000 graphs) $7000 Med. Large (1300 graphs) $8500 Very Large (2000 graphs) $12000 - $15000 I think She said they very rarely have anyone in who needs more than 1300 - 1500 graphs, so I took it to mean I must be a freak of nature because I think I need 4000. So, does Dr. Griffin use different terminology than others, because Dr. Cooley's tech said it's common for them to do 2 - 3000 graphs in a session? How is Wong talking about doing 4000 in one session, but Griffin says it's very rare someone comes in needing more than 1500? Thanks.

  8. Same with me. Griffin is 45 minutes away and Cooley is only a 300 mile drive / fly, but I want the best value. Griffin's sessions start at $5600 from small (800 - 1000) and Cooleys start at $5,000 for 1000. That's not a lot, but for 2,000 graphs there seems to be a $1,000 difference. Is Griffin worth and extra $500? Maybe not, if both are the same. If they are equal in work, I guess it's worth $500 to stay close to home ($1,000 - $500 travel is where I get the $500 diff.) Maybe I'm worrying too much about the $$, but the wife is wanting a $3k boob job out of agreeing to this, so I'm having to deal with that.
  9. Actually, I've learned a lot here researching the past couple of days and that's probably what I will do. I've read where they can even make the scar look better as well. That tech hasn't seen me, so I should forget what he says until I see the doc I suppose.
  10. Chucky, I had a consult with Dr. Griffin 2.5 years ago, and made the decision to start saving the $$ instead of financing. Last week I called and tried to get info. out of his tech, who scheduled me for an appointment. I asked the going rate for a 'small' session, as I knew Dr. Griffin prices them by small, med. large, very large, etc. and he said $5600. I asked how many and he said that's 800 FUE. I'm not sure if Dr. Griffin does strip, b/c I've just learned the difference.
  11. Here's another. I'm not sure how to post all my pics. This one is the front of my head.
  12. To follow up on my earlier post, here are some pics of the way I look now. I've got $6k in cash for a ht right now, and an appt. for a consult on Feb. 13. Dr. Griffin's tech says a small session of 800 FUE is app. $5600. I had 300 "mini" graphs 17 years ago with Dr. Shory at Latham's Hair Clinic. It's somewhat noticeable by some, but probably not a bad job considering it was '91.

  14. I think Griffin does one per day, no matter if it's a small one or large one. He seems sort of laid back so I'm not sure he's overly motvated by the money he makes. And by that, I just mean some people have different goals and his is obviously to do one patient a day, and he probably forfeits some $$ to do so. Thus, he charges more to recoup some of it. All my opinion, of course.
  15. For $5600. That's a small session, but his tech said the yield wouldn't be higher if I do a large session. Will it make a difference if I get 2,000 or so in one session vs. three sessions? That's a lot of cash, imo. I've saved up $6k but I don't want to go into debt about it. FWIW, I had 300 'mini's' for $3k back when I was 25 in 1991. I've got crown and front thinning issues; and my part is thin. I could use 3,000 I suppose if I had $15k or so. But, things like kid's college, retirement, mortgage, etc. are still important.... Thanks.

  17. If you type in Griffin in the Search Our Forum button above, you will find a great review of Dr. Griffin by the publisher Pat. With pics of his office and staff. I've got an appointment with him on Feb. 13 as well.
