  1. TomA: Do you live in that part of the world? If not, what made you go there if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure they are top notch, but for me if I lived in a certain place I would want my surgeon close enough that I could be to him in a day, in case I needed to strangle him or something!
  2. I must say after it's dried, and I've brushed it again it has given me the appearance of thicker hair.
  3. When they determine you to have good credit, you'll start getting like five blank checks in the mail that you can write and the balance will go on your credit card. The credit card my firm offers is a Mastercard with 9.9% fixed with no fee. If you would like for me to try and get you one, email me your name and number and I'll call you Monday from my office. It'll start out with a limit of $500 or so probably if you've never had credit, but once you use it and pay it off for a few months, they might raise it to a higher limit based on your household income.
  4. I think your hairline looks fine. I know you're only 21 but I had people noticing my 'diffused' thinning at 21 as well. I know how it is bro, but try and wait. How about a pic without you pulling it up? Maybe that's what has me thinking your problem's not all that bad. As far as the girlfriend. Maybe it's your imagination about her feelings on the hairline. Maybe you look for a 26 year old woman who doesn't have a MySpace. 26 year old's are fine, too! I had a ht at 25, and believe me my hair thinned so rapidly afterwards that it never gave me any sort of feeling of more hair.
  5. I got mine in the mail today. Do you rub it on your scalp? I just applied some, and while I don't have the look I did at 18, it appears to have covered some of the thinning areas. I'm sure I didn't do it quite right anyway, though.
  6. I'm not a spokesperson for this site, but I'd go to Dr. Jerry Shapiro if I needed some skin work, or a mole removed. However, no way I'd drive past Hassan & Wong in Vancouver - two of the world's best, to go anywhere else. That's a long way from me (Georgia), but I considered them strongly.
  7. I'm in the financial services business, but I must say I've never actually had direct experience with this, but here goes... I'd say if you have just moved to the U.S., and keep a job for a year you should be able to qualify for a credit card or a cosmetic finance company. You might also save a couple of hundred bucks a month and you won't have to finance it all. Nevertheless, the longer you can hold out the less in interest you'll probably pay. I'd say you could probably get a loan after 3 months, but it might be at 21% or so - and to me waiting another year would be worth it. Start with a credit card though, if you're looking to build some credit history. Don't completely pay it off monthly, but don't get into trouble with it either and before long they'll be sending you blank checks in the mail!
  8. There was a pretty good debate online here between a couple of dr.'s. If you use the search above, you might can find it. Seems like it was Feller (against) and one of the docs from down in Napels (for). But, to answer your question - I've never tried it but it was interesting that Dr. Feller thought there was no benefit.
  9. The best advice I can give you is the same that was given to me a couple of months back: SLOW DOWN.... Spend the next couple of months doing some research and stay the heck away from Bosley. If I were on the West Coast, I'd check with Dr. Alexander in Arizona - though I'm sure some can recommend good docs in Cali. It looks like there are Three (3) recommended in Southern California. Look up at the "Find a Physician" tab and start doing some research. Don't rush out and make a mistake! Believe me, pretty soon you'll be 35 and still be interested in looking half way normal, so you don't want to get messed up now.
  10. Do you have any pics you can post? How old are you, what's your NW level, etc...? Thanks. Personally, I think you made a good choice as he has an excellent reputation.
  11. Pilo, Sometimes honest people don't necessarily know the best. My friend and electrician gave me a referral of this hvac man to work on my pool heater. Turns out, he blew my transformer and replaced it with one that apparantly was the wrong size. Luckily, I was under warranty and after they made three trips out and replaced dang near everything, they noticed he'd put the wrong size transformer on the thing. I'm sure my electrician had my best interests in mind, but I should have listened to the people who work with these heaters every day - instead of someone local. Maybe that makes sense.....
  12. hair, or the transplanting of hair, can be found in this docs website... This is about the most comprehensive report on the whole process as I've seen. I'm sure he's a good doc as well, but a lot of answers can be found here. http://www.bernsteinmedical.com/hair-transplant/follicu...ransplant-grafts.php

  14. Personally, I think it looks good. Being so young, I can certainly understand you want the lower hairline but I figure the dr. might have done you a big favor by not putting it low. I too had a transplant at 25 (17 years ago), and even though the technology wasn't great back then, my dr. did at least put the 'new' hairline about 1/2 inch above where my actual hairline was at the time. How is this relevant, you ask? Well, I'm now about to turn 42 and actually still want to look good! My former hairline is gone and now the only hairline I have is those grafts from 17 yrs. ago. I would look like a clown had he put the grafts much lower than what he did. The moral is; you might lose some more hair in your life and that will be a great looking hairline when you're 35 and up.
  15. I workout with a paid trainer a couple days a week. There is usually two other guys working with me and the trainer during these times and two are doctors in the practice I go to (not actually my doctor, but partners in the practice as well) and one is a client. My trainer is a client, and another guy is my insurance rep. and yet another is a client and my chiropractor. So, I know all these guys pretty well and I won't be able to pull off the being sick for 3 weeks, surgery, or a hurt back, shoulder, etc. And I don't want them to know about my transplant because the trainer is the biggest damn gossip I know, and everyone he trains will know about it. I don't care about the doctors or chiropractor though. Any serious suggestions on a couple of good excuses I can come up with as to why I'm not working out? We're in a fairly small town so I'm not so sure I can pull off the "I'm so busy" excuse either, but given it's tax season I might have to try that one. Thanks. (And if anyone knows how to shorten my weblog title to the left I would appreciate it.)
  16. I assume you had an idea you were balding and had mpb before they ran the analysis? Seriously, the experts are posting on this forum daily and you're likely to learn more here in a week than those 'Hair Club' folks learned in their course in Hair 101
  17. The host of "The Bald Truth", a radio program on XM 152 (Sunday nights at 8 p.m.)said last week he gets more complaints about the "Hair Club" than any other outfit that has anything to do with hair. So, he's a pretty big leading consumer activist for hair losers..... BTW, I tried one of their 'systems' back in '96 and it lasted a week with me. When they finally took that damn thing off me, I was proud to be bald!
  18. Bill (anyone), I looked at the old thread documenting you ht journey and wanted to ask a question, as my hairloss is similar to what yours once was.... Your first HT was only about 1600 grafts, which today would seem to be small. It looks like Dr. Katz spread those graphs over your whole head. I'm wondering about the plan for my head in a month. Of course I will take advice from the Dr., but I'm wondering if you would change the strategy today. If you were going for, say 2500 grafts, would you want to establish the front density first or would you still do some sort of mix to cover the whole head? I'm thinking of telling the doc I want 1500 in the front 2/3 and 1000 in the crown, even though I know I could probably use the whole 2500 in either the front or the crown. But, I'm thinking he just might say "we need to build up the front and the hairline, etc...." What do you think?

  20. In my view, 4k would last you a long time. Maybe a couple of the docs who post will offer some opinions. I'd get on the meds asap to make sure you don't lose that hair in the crown though.
  21. Both seem to be great surgeons. I'm curious how you got it down to those two, as the geography (I know it's not supposed to matter) is not similar. For my research, I looked all over and the south specifically and figured if everything was equal I'd go to Charlotte instead of say, Las Vegas. Do you live in the south? Another thing for me was cost (I know that shouldn't matter either). But, the way I looked at it - if surgeon A is great by all accounts, and surgeon B and C are too, but A is $4 per graft and 300 miles away, and B is $6 per graft but 100 miles away, and C is $4 also but is in Billings, Montana or wherever; then I should choose A. So, really when deciding between two or three elite surgeons, then price and location should matter some. Am I correct? Anyway, I don't think you could go wrong with either. If you plan on going back for a six month, it would be nice if it were a one-hour plane read instead of a four-hour I suppose.
  22. Why don't you just have them shave it all right before the procedure? Or, shave it the day before. By the time you need to do it again it'll be 6 weeks or so and you'll be fine. Then again, are they requiring a shave? Some do and some don't. I would personally just tell them to shave it all immediately, wear a hat for a couple of weeks then put some of that Dermmatch on it for 3 - 4 months.
  23. this type result. Any Dermmatch users testify that they could get similar results? Thx. https://www.dermmatch.com/malephoto4.htm
