Where do you recommend going outside of the US, that is not Turkey? I thought everyone loved going to Turkey for HT

We have a list of surgeons that are recommended and approved by the community. Feel free to submit some consultations to get some different price quotes.

This is the myth perpetuated by heavy online/social media marketing. There are several excellent surgeons in Turkey. But with a market share of roughly one thousand hair clinics/mills in Turkey then that’s a dangerous move without research on female results by female patients. Please don’t rush into this and take the excellent advice that others have chimed in with. From personal experience life lived from bad hair transplants is something you would not wish on your worst enemy. Often doing nothing wins. All the best.

Belgium has several excellent surgeons: Dr Bisanga, Mwamba, Feriduni & Lupanzula.

You then have Hattigen Hair in Switzerland, Dr Munib in Holland, Dr Ball in the UK, Dr Ferreira in Portugal. There are others beyond that as well of course. You’ve then got Eugenix in India. There’s a great female case from @Ilonaaon here that you can look at.

All surgeries should have the grafts sorted & prepared using microscopes. 99% of clinics in Turkey don’t use microscopes, which is why we see pluggy hairlines all the time from Turkish clinics. It’s bad enough when blokes come back with dodgy hairlines but I imagine it’s even worse for women. At the very least with less than stellar male HT results, they’ve usually at least got a hairline again. In most female HT cases, if they go to the wrong place (such as 99% of clinics in Turkey), they will substitute their perfectly natural existing hairline for a dodgy, pluggy, unnatural one. I don’t want that to happen to you!

Please make sure you do your research first. Unfortunately the hair transplant industry is a Wild West of medicine these days and there are way too many surgeons who just don't care and will botch you for a sum of cash.

Like the above users said, check the recommended list alongside names such as Bruno Pinto, Bruno Ferreira or Couto as well and see what they got to say.

Of course there are doctors who are better suited for female hairlines so those might be more favourable for you.

@Hannah-M,

While most of the members posting on this forum our mail, we do see the occasional female member posting and are usually in very similar situations as you are.  you’ve definitely come to the right place for research and since you have used the words “hair mill“, I can see that you have already done some research which is good.

Please be careful if you decide to undergo hair transplant surgery in Turkey.  While there are some good doctors in turkey,  you need to be very careful as turkey is a hotspot for botched cosmetic procedures.  But turkey is a very attractive place for individuals to get cosmetic surgery because it’s very cheap. And while cost doesn’t necessarily indicate quality, it is true that sometimes you get what you pay for.

In my opinion, spend time researching hairline specialists because as a woman with no hair loss,  your sole Focus is on creating a natural and dense looking hairline that suits you.

Now, if you look at my posting history and you’ll see that I rarely directly suggest individuals to strongly consider Dr. Rahal because it just comes off as a sales pitch since I work for the clinic.  Though admittedly, I work for Dr. Rachel because I consider him one of if not the best in the world.  I have a long posting history on this forum prior to working for Dr. Rahal and have seen and been extremely impressed with his work for over 15 years.

All that to say, Dr. Rahal did not obtain the nickname “the hairline king“ for no reason.  So in my opinion, I would strongly suggest considering him and if you’re interested in setting up an information session, just send me a PM and I’ll be happy to get the set up for you. The session is free and there’s no obligation.

Best wishes,

Rahal Hair Transplant

Most women are more open to strip because of lack of concern about the scar and some theoretical concerns about yield. If you don't plan on shaving your head in the future, this may be an idea for you. The best in the world at strip, in my opinion, are Konior in the USA and Muresanu at Hattingen. The latter will likely be more reasonable as far as cost.

You could have the procedure done for less outside of the United States, particularly the meccas like Spain/Portugal and Hattingen which seem to produce better results on average than clinics in the USA for FUE.

Less reliable options are Turkey and India, though some have had very excellent results there as well. Perhaps not the safest to travel alone as a female in India as of late.

which doctors would you suggest in Europe?

As a female who had a similar pattern but much larger(genetic), I would definitely recommend you take a LONG time before making a decision. Sadly,, there are many doctors out there who have very little ethics when it comes to their patients and I would hate for you to end up stuck with bad results and the pain that comes with it for us females(and cost). So take your time and trust your intuition as well.

Definitely look into places that have experience with female hair line. I had FUT and ended up with a bad scar. So be VERY aware of that as well. Good luck

For strip, Muresanu at Hattingen Hair -- excellent and extremely ethical husband and wife team from Romania that set up shop in Germany then moved to Switzerland. Though this isn't a "rule", having a woman involved for a female hair restoration is probably not a bad idea.

For FUE, there are so so many options in Europe it's an embarrassment of riches. To use an odd analogy, think about why redwoods are so tall -- each one is trying to get past the other to reach the sun. Spain and Portugal are filled with giants of the industry, probably so good because they're competing with each other in a very intense internal market.

That being said,  Pinto is probably who I would go with for your specific case. He's conservative and the most consistent of the Iberian peninsula. Ximena Vila is a female surgeon who trained under Lorenzo and has good results as well. Again, not mandatory to have a female surgeon for a woman (just like you don't need a female doctor to deliver your baby) but there's probably more empathy and ease of communication.

India is not a bad idea either if cost is an issue. Eugenix, despite their unfortunatly Nazi-esque name, is a decent husband-wife team that usually have decent results, though their hairline designs can be a bit wonky. They are not quite as consistent as the Spanish/Portuguese surgeons, but still quite good.

People have different opinions about this, but I don't think Turkey is a good idea for most people. Too risky and lack of basic accountability, possibly because of their volatile political situation. I would definitely avoid Doganay and Erdogan. Maybe consider Keser if all of the other options mentioned above don't work, but I can't imagine you'd need to go much further down the list than the first few names I mentioned.

@Hannah-M,

Sorry for the delay in my response.  I don't have a private message from you but I know you said you were having some difficulty with this.  I believe Melvin (the moderator) did grant you access if you wanted to send me a PM.

While female patients aren't Dr. Rahal's most popular candidate (in that he performs surgery on mostly men), he's exceptional at re-creating natural looking hairlines.  That said, he'd have to make an assessment as to whether or not he feels you are a good candidate, which is true of any surgeon you decide to undergo an information session with.

If you are interested in more detail, feel free to send me a private message and I'll be happy to set something up for you.

Best wishes,

Rahal Hair Transplant

Have you considered hairline lowering surgery? That might be an option for you.

I would also recommend Dr. Nadimi. She does both hair transplants and hairline lowering procedures. I opted out of hairline lowering option because of the chance the scar wouldn't heal well and would be too visible even in the hands of an exceptional surgeon. But if you've never had any issues with scarring, definitely research that option!
