Regular Member Antlor Posted September 21, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted September 21, 2022 I just received my minoxidil tablets. Since minoxidil can increase your heart rate, should I take the medicine just before bedtime? I am not certain what the half-life is. I was thinking if I take it in the morning and I were to partake in physical activity such as jogging, I can have excessive beating of the heart. I find it peculiar to take a vasodilator drug that increases blood flow to have more hair. Minoxidil is not really addressing the underlying issue of hair loss, which is DHT attacking the hair follicles. However, since some doctors are raving about oral minoxidil, I’ll give it a try. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted September 21, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 21, 2022 Minoxidil is only one part of the equation, you need to stop DHT from attacking the hair follicles as well. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted September 21, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted September 21, 2022 (edited) I also take it in the morning and to be fair I wouldn’t know that I am taking it in terms of side effects. Regular Member PelazoVenAMi Posted September 22, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted September 22, 2022 I was recommended to take it just before going to sleep as it can lower blood pressure. A hug!

I've taken half a Norwood off my hairline in 4 months of using topical. Granted they're baby hairs maybe an inch or so, but the illusion of density it provides is huge.

I meant in the long term. As Melvin said, it does not block DHT. Edited September 22, 2022 by Mike10
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted September 22, 2022 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2022 I think oral minoxidil is a good weapon, but alone it won’t be as effective as combined with finasteride. Regular Member Antlor Posted September 23, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2022 @Melvin- Moderator I am adding oral minoxidil to my stack. I take finasteride nightly except Wednesday night and Sunday night when I take dutasteride. I apply XYON every morning. No matter what, oral finasteride/dutasteride is my go-to. Effective and easy compliance.
Regular Member Antlor Posted September 23, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2022 I read on the Internet that people would ingest liquid minoxidil. Personally, I would not because topical minoxidil is manufactured in different standards and has chemicals that might not be suitable for internal consumption.
Regular Member HairTrippin Posted September 23, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2022 I just started taking it and took it at night and monitored my blood pressure and heart rate. I’m gonna see how I feel for the first couple of weeks, but after that I will probably take it before I sleep
Regular Member hockeyman Posted September 24, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted September 24, 2022 Antlor So your using the xyon topical daily and oral fin/dut? What is your reasoning for doing both?
Ale
Better to take it at night. If you are taking low dose or if you are a big boy like Dr Bisanga you can take 5mg anytime during the day, but to avoid any potential blood pressure swing I would take it at night. I’m just curious I didn’t say it wasn’t effective. It’s still effective, but NOT as effective as combining it with finasteride. Finasteride isn’t as effective either without minoxidil. I’m taking xyon topical finasteride. Should get it next week, look out for my thread. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic.
