Oral minoxidil has a systemic effect so could potentially have more side effects, but could be more effective. Topical minoxidil requires you to have the sulfotransferase enzyme to convert to minoxidil so that it will be effective. Some people don't have the sulfotransferase enzyme. Oral does not need that enzyme.

If you are planning to visit India to go to Eugenix or Darling Buds or wherever in India, prepare for the logistics hassle. I don't know about you but filling out the tourist e-visa takes several hours. The form requires you to state your religion, your parents’ nationality, their birthplace, how many countries you visited (can only input a max of 20 countries - what if you visited more than 20???), any affiliation or know anyone from Pakistan, questions whether you are a criminal and on and on. Also, you must include a picture of yourself and a picture of your passport. Both file format must be pdf and below a certain file size. I had to convert my images to pdf and crop them to downsize the file. Lastly, the website says you can pay using credit card or PayPal. I tried PayPal but it does not work at all. Then I used credit card and I keep on getting errors and tried multiple times to make payment. The payment process alone took almost an hour. Have you applied to visit India? What are your thoughts on the application process? I wish they would it simpler so that it's more tourist friendly.

I spoke to Parun, a Eugenix coordinator. He said that he spoke to Dr Bansal and she said implantation in the crown could risk permanent shock loss to native hair. Dr Cinik echoed similar sentiments. Oh well, it is what it is. Thanks for pointing that out. I tried and gave my best shot. Life is not perfect but you make the most out of it. It's OK, it is the way my hair grows and I accept it. Eugenix has a great staff. They really try to communicate with you on your concerns and keep track on the numerous communications via whatsapp. To be a great clinic requires skillful doctors and a strong supporting team.

Thanks for pointing out the bald crown spot where the swirl is. Here is a picture without any Xyon or hair products. Hair is a little bit more fluffed up. I'll ask Eugenix about the crown and see what the assessment is.

Thanks for your input, thoughtful as usual. I think for now, I like the longer sideburn appearance. Yeah, growing the hair longer would help. Perhaps, I'll grow my hair longer in the back. I just see a lot of people with short hair now in the back and it seems to be the norm. I read hair fiber is a real mess to use. It gets on the wall and even the ceiling. Another thing is I'll be visiting India, why not revisit Eugenix for some touchup.

My first transplant was in Sept 2019 with Dr Emrah Cinik. The result was OK. Concern at that time was lack of density. Did some research here at HRN and decided on Eugenix with Dr Arika Bansal and went there early April 2022. I just bought my plane tickets today, 14 Nov 22, to India and I hope Eugenix can fit me in!!! These are the things I want accomplished: 1. Left temporal point looks unnatural. Lack of density, too much density or too straight? What do you think and what should I do? 2. Extract some here at right temporal point for triangular corner and symmetry with right temporal point. Then implant that extracted hair somewhere else. What do you think? 3. Some beard hair implanted on lower right side burn. That's how Dr Cinik did it for left side burn with 10 hairs and it looks natural. Is it worthwhile to fill in a little bit for added density on right side burn? Perhaps 10 to 20 hairs or so. 4. Removed some beard hair on bottom right side and move to left side in jaw area for symmetry. Dr Cinik's staff thinks I have weak beard hair and not worthwhile. Is it a good idea? 5. Try it for a while and see whether you like the bald look. You are not an ideal candidate for hair transplant. Even with your hair long in the back, it does not look super dense. If you insist on the hair transplant route, you need to keep in mind that a hair transplant is about moving hair around and is an illusion of density. You will need an initial hair transplant and then wait 9 to 12 months or so for a second hair transplant. You are only 24 and let's say you live another 50 years. You will need another hair transplant a decade or so later. In your lifetime, you will need 4 or more hair transplants. It is an expensive and long journey for hair transplantation, why not go for the bald look? It is quite acceptable now.

I read on the Internet that people would ingest liquid minoxidil. Personally, I would not because topical minoxidil is manufactured in different standards and has chemicals that might not be suitable for internal consumption.

@Melvin- Moderator I am adding oral minoxidil to my stack. I take finasteride nightly except Wednesday night and Sunday night when I take dutasteride. I apply XYON every morning. No matter what, oral finasteride/dutasteride is my go-to. Effective and easy compliance.

I just received my minoxidil tablets. Since minoxidil can increase your heart rate, should I take the medicine just before bedtime? I am not certain what the half-life is. I was thinking if I take it in the morning and I were to partake in physical activity such as jogging, I can have excessive beating of the heart. I find it peculiar to take a vasodilator drug that increases blood flow to have more hair. Minoxidil is not really addressing the underlying issue of hair loss, which is DHT attacking the hair follicles. However, since some doctors are raving about oral minoxidil, I’ll give it a try.

That's really rough, BeHappy. That is quite a detailed chronology. Have you considered SMP? Quick fix and you don't have to be on the hair transplant journey anymore. If you buzz your hair everyday or so and with SMP, it can look good. Some people are content with SMP.

Congrats. I wish I was selected for the 1 year study. At 2.5% there is a lot of finasteride in there. I like the fancy packaging and the neat dispenser. It looks high-end and masculine.

OK, to finally your answer your question. Yes, that seems to be a good strategy. HT is about providing most visual impact from the finite donor regions. If you comb your hair from left to right a vast majority of time then you should consider it. Having hair everywhere on the head including the crown looks better than having uniform density in the frontal area and a sparse bald-looking crown. Ask Dr Couto about your strategy.
