Hi, hope you lot are well! After about a year or searching I found a dermatologist that would prescribe me oral minoxidil. He advised me to start with 1.25mg for the first month and then 2.5mg there on.

Im looking to start a new regime, I’ve previously used finasteride and got every side effect you could think of Aswell as a lump in my breast so that’s not a option for me anymore. Also, I’ll be using nizoral 3x a week to try fight any inflammation. I feel like I’m not doing enough to keep the hair I have I Was wondering what Else i could use?

when I visited the dermatologist he had a look at my scalp and said there was “diffuse redness with no perifollicular exacerbation and there is no significant scale.” He prescribed me a 0.1% tacrolimus topical to help with the possible inflammation. Once I did a bit of research it said a side effect of the drug was hairloss and thinning. Was wondering if any of you guys have knowledge about this?

Any reccomdations would be great. Thank you guys!

Have you considered topical anti-androgens like topical dutasteride once per week? You can get it from Dr. Mwamba at FUEClinic.com.

I haven’t actually, it could be worth a try. I just got a little bugged out since using the finasteride. You have any experience with topical anti androgens?

One thing first: Topical Fin and Dut are not topical Anti Androgens, RU, CB, Fluridil are.

Even if you apply them topical they are still 5ar inhibitors.

I have severe sides on oral Fin even 0.25mg MWF.

So I tried to switch to topicals like 2.5 FIN topical liposomal even until 0.025 and also topical Dut.

All of them give me heavy sides and they will go systemical. Even as we think of the molecular size of Dut is over 500.

He prescribed me a 0.1% tacrolimus topical to help with the possible inflammation

I was prescribed pimecrolimus cream a few years back by a dermatologist to see if it helped with my erythema from my SMP. It didn't do much for me but I hope your script helps with the inflammation for you.

Were you using topical minoxidil prior to starting oral ? I would be interested to hear if you make improvements by switching to oral and if you experience any sides. Thanks

I was using topical since around 17 years old and stopped around 21 and the started back up for a year before stopping again. I’m 23 years old now. Sides wise so far I haven’t had anything. I’m pretty hairy already so more body hair isn’t that bad for me. But all the other sides I haven’t really had yet. I’ll definitely keep you guys updated!

How did you fight the inflammation? Did it just got away in its own?

Mine was erythema, not inflammation, but the derm treated it like atopic dermatitis so prescribed the cream. It did not go away but don't conflate my case with yours - you might have success with tacrolimus for your condition.

Yeh I’m hoping it will work, usually when the inflammation get worse or flares up it comes with oily skin, All over my scalp/face. Let’s see how it goes. Was looking for something more natural for the inflammation and came across magnesium oil so I might give that a go also.
