Regular Member _lshy Posted November 1, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) I'm currently on my search for a surgeon and as someone local to Australia, I thought it might be worthwhile looking into the local clinics here. Dr Knudsen receives a lot of criticism on this forum, justified or not I thought it fair to compile a list of his results aggregated from several sources. It might help people make up their minds in future. Please contribute your thoughts, discussion on the results would be appreciated and comparisons drawn with other similarly priced clinics internationally is welcome. In other threads I have noticed Australian clinics get hit with a lot of slander. A HT is spooky, unless you have a source to support it, there's no need for spooky words. He might not be as good as whoever did Machine Gun Kelly's hair, but if we are 90% the way there that's good enough to save the expense of a trip for some people. That might not be the case and that's fine, but at least let's keep things empirical. He charges around $7 USD per graft FUE which is high, but there is an at least 3k USD overhead for any Australian looking international which makes it uncompetitive for procedures under 2000 grafts (like me). https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rGZrelTxuO3Ag4ACRAVOiB6psLt9DAu_XODIJdyBmVw/edit?usp=sharing I may update this document with time which is why it's a google doc (forum posts become uneditable after a while) Edited November 1, 2021 by _lshy

Senior Member Gokuhairline Posted November 2, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted November 2, 2021 not good in my opinion..i know the guy gets hate on here for whatever reasons/past violations/ etc but looking at those samples maybe 1 or 2 were mediocre at best, again in my opinion
Regular Member Mark Wolfer Posted November 2, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted November 2, 2021 Case 11 was a terrible surgical plan. 600 grafts is woefully inadequate and a poor result like this was inevitable

Its so many better choices not too far away. I dont know where in Australia you live but you have some great Drs in Thailand, which costs about 500 USD for economy and about 2000 USD for business class if you go Sydney to Bangkok round-trip. You also have Eugenix in India, not sure the prices for the flight there but should be worth it. 2000 grafts is 14000 USD with Dr Knudsen, which makes me sick of even thinking of it considering his results. Regular Member Jonulous Posted November 12, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted November 12, 2021 (edited) I can comment on the consultation process of the clinic, from around 4 years back. It was fine. (I should have put that behind a spoiler tag to up the anticipation levels haha). But yeah a pleasant enough consultation which in my case just led to getting on some finasteride at a lower than standard dose. Certainly didn't feel pushed in the direction of a surgical intervention. The following comment is more about the relative scarcity of hair surgeons with much of a profile in this region, rather than about any particular doctor.... It's possible to be left with the impression that the relatively small number of doctors who are active down here can make a decent living by dividing their working week doing 70% chargeable consultations to 30% actual hands-on surgical stuff. So that is more the basis of my reluctance to shop around locally for a surgeon. Edited November 12, 2021 by Jonulous typo

Regular Member _lshy Posted November 12, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 12, 2021 Yeah but getting places is a bit cooked. I'm trying to fly to Thailand to see Dr Path. Lots of hoops to jump through and no direct flights. But I'll do it.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted November 12, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted November 12, 2021 Thailand opens up December 1st. Plenty of time to continue to ask more questions, do more due diligence, etc. All the best! 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
