Senior Member Future Hair Doc Posted February 15, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted February 15, 2021 Dutasteride is more powerful than finasteride because it works on 2 isoforms of 5-alpha reductase. Hence, the chances of side effects are higher with dutasteride than finasteride. This probably explains why docs are hesitant to prescribe it for hair loss as opposed to finasteride. He's probably busy with surgeries and doesn't realize that this facet of his business is being so badly mismanaged. I know they mean well but it seems like they're overwhelmed and being sloppy with orders and customer payments. The issue I'm worried about now is that even if I got a bottle, it's clear we can't rely on them to process refills in a timely way, so if we start on their formula there's a good likelihood that we'd run out before they got it together to ship a refill. That's very risky. Yup, that’s my concern. I’ll pretty much have to order a refill 2 months before I need it, to be safe. I need to find a better place. They say 90 days because it can lose potency after that and that is was the compounding pharmacy says but it won't stop working until longer than that, it probably just loses a bit of potency. How did they lie to you if they said 4 weeks? I am in Spain half of the time and it has taken up to 3 weeks, imagine the rest of the world, it used to be faster pre-pandemic but that is each's countries post office. Btw, do yourself a favor and get topical dutasteride somewhere else but don't do topical fin, you might as well take it orally as it goes systemic entirely. You can have different results at different days and times without taking anything. It's really not a good indicative. A best indicative is PSA. Did you do that?
