Regular Member cpfm Posted April 19, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted April 19, 2021 @LondonRamenGreat work by Dr. Ferreira. Thank you for sharing your story here. If you don't mind me asking, did you notice any change by adding DUTA twice a week? I'm currently thinking of adding DUTA to my regimen but unsure if it will be of any benefit. Thanks! Regular Member LondonRamen Posted April 19, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) 5 month Post Op Hair has become quite long in lockdown which is definitely contributing to the illusion a bit. Feels and looks thicker, especially in real life and people have commented my hair looks thicker these days. It looks a bit thinner in photos than what I see in the mirror, I suppose the bright lighting by my window in this sunny UK weather and computational photography on iPhones automatically increasing contrast doesn't really help in showing how my hair looks in normal settings. One thing I noticed is that when wet (such as applying minoxidil in the mornings) my hair no longer becomes quite transparent and whispy. It seems to mantain a reasonable a density and not look too bad when combed. Now that barbers are open again in the UK, it will be interesting to see how it looks after a light trim... Only a minor improvement (like 2%?) and is the kind that only appears if you're looking for it, and probably hard to show in static pictures. Not a difference worth fussing over as how clean, dry or what product you use in your hair has a much bigger visual effect than what I got from taking Duta. The main reason I took it was to help strengthen my hair pre-surgery and minimise shock loss. I suppose it will help me hold on to what I already have better and for longer than fin will do alone, which is more important to me than gaining density from it. Senior Member Mycroft Posted April 19, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) Definitely a noticable difference in the definition of the hairline. The shape and position is clear and distinct, whereas before the diffuse thinning had eroded the frame. Top down looks to have noticeably fuller coverage as well. Regular Member LondonRamen Posted July 24, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 24, 2021 Hello all, Last weekend was the 8 month date when I took photos, though just getting around to posting it now. Please have a look and let me know your thoughts. I had a little haircut and the hair length is roughly the same as it was pre-surgery so I'm pretty pleased as you can no longer see my scalp at this length whereas before you could in the pre-surgery photos (apart from my crown where I did not have surgery - to be addressed in the future). It was a bit of a gamble getting this operation as a diffuse thinner, but I think it's working out for me so pretty chuffed. Unfortunately it's hard to take the right photos that can display to you what I and others see in real life. it's pretty dense in real-life but with this newfangled computational photography some phonemakers like iphone do I find the contrast is messed around with a bit which can make things appear thinner than they are. This is my usualy style of combing my hair. Freshly washed and dried here too. The side parting I do, can make some parts look thinner and other parts thicker than they really are because of how the hair angle hits the camera so I've also done a few where it is combed straight down so you have a more realistic view of the uniformity of growth. Scalp is still hidden, so pretty good!
Regular Member LondonRamen Posted July 24, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 24, 2021 (edited) Oooh, after digging around in my google photos album I found some extra pics pre-surgery and pre fin+min. All around the same length of hair by luck. Pre fin + min (4 years ago) Pre-surgery (around 2 years ago), when the hairloss and extra growth from going on fin+min had stabilised And then my 8 month result Edited July 24, 2021 by LondonRamen
Senior Member Britanium Posted July 24, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted July 24, 2021 Really nice progress! I know exactly what you mean regarding taking pics. Sometimes it can really bring out the weaker side of a transplant. Yours looks pretty amazing to me though 👏 thanks for the update 🙏

Looks extremely natural! @LondonRamen Did you see any progress/new growth from Month 7 to 8? Any new hairs that you can feel sprouting through? For sure, there was noticeable increase in thickness going to month 8 from 7. I can't really 'feel' hairs sprout through- my scalp is not sensitive enough I just notice in the mirror my hair looks thicker. I don't generally go close in either to count the follicles or track new ones poking through. I feel like i'd go insane with paranoia if I did that regularly haha. Most of the growth was from month 6 to 7 though. That was when I achieved scalp coverage and I could no longer see through. My lack of follicular peeping means I sadly can't give an honest answer here because I don't know if the growth is from new hairs or the current hair thickening up and maturing. All I know is that even 8 months in it is still improving so looks like I may be one of the 'long growers' relative to the people who basically get complete growth 6 months in Edited July 25, 2021 by LondonRamen
