Regular Member fito88 Posted November 2, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted November 2, 2020 Hey guys, Considering a FUT as I want to maximize my donor capacity for possible future transplants before I look into FUE. I'm in my early 30's and I am NW3. I gather that most members in the forums have lots of experience regarding transplants Who'd you recommend as a good FUT surgeon with consistently great results? so far I've gathered the following list: Dr Diep; Dr Hasson; Dr Rahal; Dr Feller; Dr Gabel. Would you add any one to the list? What's your experiences with any of the aforementioned Dr's? Do you still believe that FUT is superior to FUE in terms of donor management, yield and hair growth? Thanks
Senior Member hairlossPA Posted November 2, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 2, 2020 I would lean towards Dr Hasson or Dr Bloxham (Feller). Dr. Diep has too many ethical issues right now Dr. Hasson is world class Dr. Rahal hasnt posted many patient reviews in a long long time Dr. Feller (Bloxham) I think is a great choice. They have some really good recent/solid results and he's very engaged Dr. Gabel has a great reputation

I'm a bit concerned with the lack of patients with Dr Rahal lately as I admired his hairline work.

Senior Member TorontoMan Posted November 2, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 2, 2020 They might do it for some exception potentially. I am 2 months post op 2.4k fue with dr. rahal and I’ll post my results in a couple of months. They estimate I have another 5-6k to extract from, knowing this, fue was a better choice for me as I am also tolerating fin well.

Please share reviews with us in the forum as I can't find many recent reviews for Dr Rahal. Also, if he estimates 8k grafts to be transplanted from your donor via FUE in total then you must have an exceptional donor?

Thank you, and that is the ball park estimate, his tech said he believes there’s another 5-6k and then Dr rahal sort of confirmed by saying that I had a strong donor. If you haven’t already, I would consult with a reputable surgeon and try to get an estimate for your donor as well
Regular Member naakmuka Posted November 2, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted November 2, 2020 Dr. Gabel, Bloxham and Hasson are all fantastic surgeons for FUT. I considered all of them but ended up going with Dr. Alexander.

Senior Member home1212 Posted November 14, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 14, 2020 Drs. Feller & Bloxham do excellent and consistent dense pack FUT work always with an eye toward future loss and to maximize donor supply Hasson & Wong, Shapiro, Cooley, Konior (long wait list), Gabel, Arocha - others I consider top notch
Senior Member deitel130 Posted November 14, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted November 14, 2020 You have some great doctors on that list. There is also Dr. Konior, Dr. Bloxham and Dr. Wong who is a perfectionist.
Regular Member fito88 Posted December 25, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 25, 2020 Thank you for all the suggestions guys. Much appreciated. I am also wondering whether going for FUT first before exploring the FUE possibilities is still the way to go in order to harvest the most amount possible of healthy grafts from the donor area as I've been getting pushed to go for FUE only by some doctors. I will start a new thread in this regards.
